1 Beginnings

In a quiet little village, a novice smith and his teacher sat outside on two wooden chairs, staring out among the field and trees in the distance.

The first day of the week was coming to an end. They had recently finished their orders for the month and were enjoying the silence.

The only sounds breaking this serene atmosphere being ones from the distant voices of the crowds in the village centre and the wind echoing the birds chirping as they nestled their young into their nests. Preparing for the night ahead.

The young man who is the novice smith casually yawned while looking back at a book in his hands. For a long time, he couldn't escape his thoughts of adventuring out into the wilds. Yet he wasn't too sure how to start.

His name is Adam, a boy with cute little dimples and lavish gold hair. Eyes bluer than the skies above, one would think he is a she!

It wasn't that he let his hair grow, he just didn't care. It would take enough embarrassment to make him think of getting his hair cut.

For a reason he didn't know, he always grew into someone who looked different than the others.

It wasn't that he looked completely like a woman, people simply struggled to discern his gender, people often thought he was half-human and half-elven.

Looking towards his teacher and boss he started to speak.

"Ahh, imagine if you could have a system in your mind that lets you learn things super fast!"

Adam sighed while looking at the shades the tree's were creating.

"What? You mean like in those fantasy books you like reading about all the time? Pfft, you daydream too much man!" Joel mockingly replies

"Yeah, but it'd be nice if something like that exists, I wish I had a system like that which could evolve. That would be awesome! I could do whatever I wanted then!"

Adam slowly cleans his area up while replying to his teacher.

"Yeah yeah, well I hope you get your fancy wish one day, once you're done with your fantasy head on home. The last of the merchants orders are completed for this month."

"Okay! See you tomorrow!" - Adam shouts to Joel as he cleans his hands and runs back home.

"If only my wish was true, I'd give my everything for it to be real"

So begins the story of a boy who becomes a legend! A simple thought with all of one's emotion, could drastically change fate!

Born in the 'Kingdom of Lavia' in a humble cottage, a son of two, a brother of three.

Lutia, the village he lives in, is rather bland and boring but with it, there is a charm, a charm of normalcy. Nothing ever really happens to this area, being too far from the wars and too close to the capital for the bandits. So it sits, in a bubble of safety.

Which is the exact reason Adam wants to adventure!

"Mum, Dad! I'm home! Where's Jerrick and Kora? Are they still out training?" Adam shouts to his parents while barging through the front door.

Jerrick, his second eldest brother. An apprentice Mage, would spend his days during the week in the Mage Tower an hours walk from the village.

Kora his only sister spent most of her time training, always focusing on the next best exercise, she would be the first to leave in the morning and the last to return

"Hello my dear, Kora is out training with the other squires while your brother Jerrick is with the apprentices," Lucy replies with a somewhat annoyed but loving tone.

"You know boy, one day you're going to put us in the grave by barging through that door everyday!

Thomas angrily snorts while calming his over beating heart.

"Anyways, Jerrick is learning what he says in his own words 'powerful ball of flame that can blow craters in the land!'

Humph! I've seen fireballs before, that light show he's putting up won't burn the hair off a fly's crack!"

"Hahaha! All bang and no buck hey?"

Adam laughs while taking his boots off from a hard days work in the smithery

"Dear, you barely ask about Arthur lately. Are you not worried about him?" Lucy stares at Adam worryingly

"Mother, we both know he is fine.

I'm sure he's finally got that sword from the stone and did all that knightly stuff he set out to do."

Adam joked.

"I can't worry about him if I don't get a bit more stronger. Plus I've just got better at making daggers, it took me nearly half a year to even remotely make a decent pair."

"Hopefully the pair between his legs comes out soon or I'll start calling him Alice! - Thomas quietly remarks

"Thomas! I heard that!" - Lucy snaps at Thomas "You know he's a late bloomer!

*Cough* *Cough* " I'm still here you know.." -Adam

"Late? He's 16! Long golden hair down to his elbows, fair white skin as though the moon goddess kissed him on the cheek and the damndest, prettiest blue eyes in the whole kingdom!

I've had many men across the area ask about the beauty of Lavia for her hand in marriage!" Thomas replied with annoyance

*Cough* "Uhh, I do have a pair thanks, I can;t help that I'm pretty I guess.." -Adam sheepishly replies

"He may be a pretty boy and sometimes I think he's actually a girl but he still has feelings! Besides at least he will have many suitors in the future girls or guys!"

Lucy was now preparing to throw some of her well-made soup at Thomas.

"Okay I'm going now" - Adam was now thoroughly annoyed

The sound of hay balls and bowls of soup being thrown could be heard while Adam walked up the staircase.

"My family is normally fine until they talk about my looks, ughh how embarrassing at least no one heard them"

Adam whined to himself while jumping on to his bed.

*cough* "Yeah about that."

"Ahhh! Who's there!?"

Adam scared out of his witts flies off his bed and lands on the ground with a thud.

"shhh! They'll hear otherwise!" The unknown voice beckons Adam urgently.

Searching his room to find the face to fit the voice, "Where are you?", searching everywhere he thought someone could be, checking his wardrobe, under his bed, his drawers, his bedside chest. Alas to no avail.

"I'm what you wished for!" The voice sounded quite happy and overbearingly confident.

Adam thinks for a bit..

"A pair of new gloves? A better hammer? A practice sword? Some semblance of skill to perform magic?"

"Hmph! For starters no no no and no. I mean with me you can get all of that but right now what you wished for the most was a system." The voice grew slightly more annoyed at Adam.

"Oh right! So like.. for real?"

"..."

"Hey voice are you there?"

"...yes"

Adam was getting a bit impatient. Tapping his bedside table with a tap tap tap.

"Sooo.. are you going to tell me what you can do? Also how come you sound like a girl?"

"For starters, yes I can and I sound like a girl because I am.

Look the creator is kind of bored at the moment so he's putting me on a mission to give someone random this system he made so I gave it to you"

Adam was taken aback.

"Bored?"

"Yeah, anyways call me Alice"

"Hahaha! Funny you should say that my dad wants to call me Alice."

Alice did not find this as funny, she simply ignored the laughing idiot and began 'installing' the system into his mind.

"Hey ow! That hurts you know! Wait.. ahhh!"

Adam passes out rather quickly from the pain of something drilling into his brain.

After what seemed like a very long time he woke up staring at his book on the table, drool slipping out of his mouth on to his hand.

"Seems I passed out, an odd dream I had"

"What did you dream about?"

"Oh nothing much, just some random girl popped in my head and.. hey!! That was real?!"

Adam fell off his chair, dazed and confused he clambered his way back up.

"Well duh. You're the one passing out after I installed the system."

Alice knew very well what she did, she just didn't have the heart to admit it.

"Oh, by the way, don't talk out loud, you can simply think and I can hear you."

A little sore and with a broken pride from falling often in front of this girl who somehow he can't see but can see him.

Adam thinks to himself. "System? Installed?"

-System Installation Complete-

[Replying to host, the system has completed the installation and has now merged with the host's mind. For usage please name system]

"hmm, so the system if what I wished for should be self-evolving?"

Adam was ecstatic!

"Yep! Finally, a tinge of excitement, if you were a bit more excited I would have turned off the pain filter when installing it!" Alice smiled while thinking to herself.

"You did what!?" Adam was now thoroughly annoyed at this knowledge.

"You.. you heard that? I was thinking to myself.. oh no! This must be payback from the creator for doing that!" Alice cried to herself, now she had a mind link to Adam as well. All thoughts are now read by both of them.

"Hehehe, serves you right for being mean! Anyways, I get the gist of what I have to do here. Since it is asking for a name I'll name it Self Evolving System, SES for short."

"Stink name.."

-System now updated.-

-SES now ready for host introduction, is host ready?-

"Yes!"
