4 Cicada VS Magikarp

{Day 3}

After waking up from my nice daily slumber of around 7 to 8 hours, I begin to practice on increasing my stamina bar. During my relaxation, I found out by doing basic exercises such as running or jogging in intervals you can increase your overall stamina.

The system told me that for every 50 stamina gained you gain a permanent stat increase of +1 for your speed, isn't that sweet. Pretty cool huh, although apparently this only works until you get 1000 stamina, so overall I can only get a+20 speed stat boost in total, which is a shame but it's still cool.

The mysterious power controlling this world probably thought that if they didn't put a cap for these stat increases that people would abuse the function and I don't blame them. If I was given the opportunity, I would abuse the hell out of it, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats and a 10km run every day, I'd be doing all of that. Maybe, if I did that, I'd go bald and become a super OP monster that could beat everyone with one punch. Yeah, I like the sound of that, welcome to the new monster of the year .... drum rollll...One Punch Cicada!

Kekeke. All right, that's enough fun for now.

"Hey system how do I level up my skill."

[Host needs to use skills more often to increase their proficiencies, in turn helping them level up.]

Right, so that's what I need to do. Guess I need to go hunting to improve, I wish I could just relax in my makeshift bed and auto level but that's not going to happen. If I laze around, I'll end up forgetting stuff and becoming weak and I still haven't forgotten about the revenge that I'll dish up on those spiders. What you'd thought that I'd forgotten, never.

My body started to twitch in excitement, as it dreams of the day that the stupid green spiders will be turned into green mush. I'm a very bad cicada, slurp. Mwahahahah. Cough. Cough. Yeah, I really need to work on my evil laugh.

After setting my spider conquest goals, I decided to hunt for food, and probably store some in my new crib as reserves for tough times, just in case an unexpected scenario ever occurred. Thanks to my battle yesterday with the Hulk caterpillar my strength stat had increased by 2, defense by 1 and speed by 3. Ooh look, I'm improving already. Slowly but surely I'm getting there, the solo levelling has just began, I'm going to become a world tier hunter.

Hmm speaking about progress, this is my 3rd day in this world and I've yet to encounter any humans. I don't even know the name of this world, actually I don't really know anything. Are there hot cat babes? Do humans exist, or is this a monster only world? Are there any other intelligent monsters other than me or do they all act upon instinct? I've got so many unanswered questions.

"Hey system you think you can give me a hand, can you tell me the basic history of the land, or the lore or answer any of my questions to be frank...please."

[Unfortunately, System doesn't have permission to retell this type of information to the host. The only thing that I can tell you is that this world is called Elictia and the continent we are in is called Bersia and you are currently in the region of Alteen in Bersia.]

Alteen, that name pops out again I remember it being mentioned when I was given my evolution options. Well, that was something I already knew but I managed to get extra info. So this world is called Elictia, interesting; hopefully later on I can learn more about this world. I'm going to need this type of information if I ever want to interact with humans or other sentient beings, well that's if I get a humanoid form. I doubt humans want to talk to a cicada, they'll probably try to step on me or something.

"Hey system can a Cicada like me gain a human form?" I say hopefully.

[No, they cannot, host.]

My mind begins entering into a state of mental anguish, no...I'm going to be a Cicada for the rest of my life!

[As humans say, I'm just kidding host, since you have me the system your evolution line is a bit different from others and humanoid options will be available to you eventually. Whether they're beneficial or not to you I don't know.]

If my face could be red, it would be red with rage, the darkest shade of red, 50 shades of red. So this system thinks that it's funny and can crack jokes huh. I'll find a way to disciple it sooner or later. Now, now breathe this isn't the time to be angry, look you've confirmed you can gain a humanoid form you should be glad. Yes glad.

"Woohooo, when I get my humanoid form, I'm going to be the biggest chad and have the largest harem. They'll be calling me King Cicada!" , I shout out loud in excitement.

[Teehehehe!]

"Hey system what's so funny?"

[....]

[Don't worry, you'll find out eventually host.], it said with a jovial sounding voice.

This system is so weird, laughing for no reason whatsoever.

Anyway, let's not get distracted its food time. I turn on my body engine and start moving once again. After a few steps I stop, because the forest is covered by a large canopy of trees it's easy to get lost. Not wanting to lose my sense of direction of where my home is, I come up with an ingenious plan. I call it "𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦", what a brilliant name!

The plan involves me throwing up acid balls onto the ground, every 5 to so minutes. The acid balls come from my skill acid mucus, and they dissolve into the soil, leaving my distinct scent, which honestly and surprisingly doesn't smell that bad. I do this for around an hour as I search for food, causing my acid mucus to lvl up 3 times to lvl 4.

Look at my amazing plan, hitting 2 birds with one stone, hip hip hooray to the throw up king. Yeah, that name isn't going to work, note to self-come up with better names.

After a while of walking around, I end up finding a lake filled with fresh crystal-clear water. Water, oh beautiful water I haven't had any since I've come to this new world. Driven by my newfound quench of thirst, I head straight for the lake and start gulping down the water. Mmmh it tashes ssho goowd. GULP! Ahhhh, that hit the spot, nothing like a good old glass or should I say lake full of water!

When I finished drinking my fair share of water, I gaze at myself in the water, looking at my reflection. Oooh I'm quite a handsome cicada, but where's my monster penis. Well, I guess cicadas don't have penises, yh I've heard that some insect species don't have them. Anyway, we're getting off topic, where were we, ahh yes, my beautiful reflection.

Glancing at my reflection you could see my jet-black body, with tiny little spikes emerging from them. The top of my head has a pink X on top of it, spreading in a pattern from my head to my back. This is probably one of those monster adaptations to show that you're poisonous, just like the poison dark frog. Hahaha, this should drive away, all those nasty predators.

[Teehehehe.]

"What's so funny now system!"

[Oh erm.... ahh yes, it's just your stream of logic seems quite stupid. Most monsters in this forest have poison resistance to a certain degree so thinking that you could drive them away with just your markings made me giggle.], it said.

Hmmm, I have a strange feeling it isn't letting me in on something... whatever, it can't be that important. If it were crucial for me to know, it would have told me already, and anyway it also likes to hide irrelevant information from me so it's not that surprising now that I think about it.

Enchanted by my sheer chadness, I gaze wistfully at my reflection... I wonder what I looked like as a human in my past life. As I continue to gaze into the pool, my shadow grows darker and darker. What's going on? Why's my shadow growing darker? Wait something might be coming out of the water.

I quickly take a few steps back from the pool, just before a massive red looking spiky fish erupts out of the water. What is that! Out of the water emerges a red aquatic fish with black speckled spikes on its skin. It looks like a red snapper, but bigger and uglier, and worst of all this thing... this abomination has legs. LEGS!

Standing in front of me is the first walking fish I've ever see. Yes, this abomination; I'm going to name it Magiman, the first ever walking wallmart magikarp in existence!

Venom Cicada VS Magiman, battle begin!

<Venom Cicada uses run to try and flee the battle.>

Immediately, after seeing this Magiman existence, I decide to bolt for it. There is no freaking way I'm fighting that!

ERGHGHGHGHG! It bellows as it realises my escape attempt, before quickly pursuing me.

I start to run with all my strength trying to leave the Magiman in the dust. HERE WE GO MAXIMUM SPEED! This should be enough right, after all its just a fish, it shouldn't be able to run that fast on land. Yeah, that's right I'm on my home terrain here, starting to relax I quickly take a glance behind me only to find Magiman hot on my trail, each second, its catching up to me.

HOLD ON WHAT HAPPENED TO HOME TURF ADVANTAGE!

[Alert your stamina is low!]

Damn perfect timing huh. I proceed to activate my Bull strength ability, not caring for my already low stamina. If my stamina goes down then, it will start eating chunks of my HP but my HP gauge is full so it's okay for now.

After applying my skill, the distance between the walking fish and I, expands by quite a margin creating a comfortable amount of space for me to breathe. Maybe I can relax now, wait a second I don't here its tribal yell anymore, have I finally lost it. I carefully look back only to see the walking fish sprawling on the ground.

It starts bashing about hopping up and down on the floor. It's quite a sad sight to behold. Wait a second... can this thing not breathe? I think it's dying. Hahahahahha, don't tell me that this fish was stupid enough to chase me on land this far out when it knew it couldn't survive long on land. Ahh, it probably thought it could catch me on time; well, it thought wrong. Hahahahaha. How do you like me now you stupid fish!

After laughing at the fish's struggles for a few seconds I proceed to calm down, before unravelling my speech.

"You were a worthy foe Magiman, today the world witnessed a battle that only comes once every millennium. A fight to the death between two peerlessly strong enemies, who waged war on each other. Alas, your earth running martial arts were not strong enough to beat me. You see ever since birth I have cultivated on the art of running away, so you were never going to beat me! It's simple logic, my running away martial arts is just stronger than your earth running martial arts", I say concluding my speech.

It was a good battle adversary. After saying my speech, I scurry towards the fish to deal a finishing blow.

Poison bite!

My venom seeps into the skin of the fish, killing it with little resistance. Today the death of a peculiar existence occurred, the death of Magiman.

Ding, the ringing sound resounds in my head again.

[You've gained: 456 exp]

[You've gained: 2 levels]

[HP and Stamina fully recovered]

[Void Eater skill can be applied do you want to use this skill?]

"Yes, please."

[Void Eater skill applied... select a number from 1 to 3]

Only 3 skills this time, Hmm I choose 1.

[Option 1 chosen; skill obtained Water shot (lvl1)]

An offensive skill, I finally obtained an offensive skill. That's great…but wait I'm a bit confused, if the fish had this skill then why didn't it use it on me, it would have been much easier to beat me if it did.

[Host the fish you dubbed Magiman needs to consistently use the water shot skill inside its own body to keep it alive on land, otherwise it dies straight away.]

Oh, I get it now. Thanks system, finally being useful.

"Hey system can you give me a basic skill description."

[Skill Water shot: skill that enables user to project pointy water projectiles from its body. Costs 5 MP points per shot.]

Woah, that actually sounds kind of nifty, but I don't have any mana points.

[Host needs to gain mana manipulation skill before being able to gain mana points and mana stat.]

Okay then guess that's the next thing that I will need to do.

Yawn!

Looks like my body is quite tired, let me eat some of this fish and head home, I'll look into the mana manipulation thing tomorrow.

NOM! NOM! NOM! CRUNCH!

I quickly devour half of the fish, then carry the rest of the fish on my tiny back. It's quite heavy but I manage to take it back home. Yawn! I'm tired, time to sleep now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Day 4}

New morning, new day. After getting several hours of sleep, I wake up with a new goal in mind. Today I'm going to get this mana manipulation skill in the bag I tell myself. This self-desire to learn results in me wasting around 2 hours of my day trying to practice Murim cultivation techniques from light novels I've read before. Nope not working.

Seeing that doing so is not yielding any results, my retarded ass brain comes to the conclusion to instead try chakra techniques from Naruto then Nen techniques from Hunter x Hunter. Nope, this isn't working at all. ARGH!

I spend several hours trying different methods from meditating to bowing my little cicada head. Damn nothing is working!

[Do you need some help host?]

"Yes, please" I say with delight hoping that the system can help me make a breakthrough.

[I am in a good mood so today I shall help you out a little.]

"Thank you, oh thank you great system"

Now if I had control of a human body, I would be doing the biggest dogeza possible. A dogeza made for the emperor. A holy dogeza. A dogeza so brilliant that by just looking at it you would think, wow he's such a dedicated person. That's how happy I was.

"Hey great system-nim, aren't you a machine like state, how do you even have a mood?", I say out of curiosity.

[Don't ruin it host, or I won't help you.]

"Alright, alright sorry." (seems like I touched a sensitive spot)

[Erm, erm. Now pay attention because I shall only say this once. Mana is an essence that envelopes the world. It exists everywhere as tiny little strings invisible to the naked eye. These multiple string act separately from each other. To achieve mana manipulation, you need to be able to weave these strings together and pull the interwoven essence towards you.]

I think that I understand although it's quite confusing.

[For an inexperienced chump like you, who can't even view the mana strings you'll have to stay in a constant state of meditation for at least two days. During these two day you will not be able to eat, sleep or drink anything, you must be in perfect synchronisation with the surroundings. Only after doing this will you be able to perceive mana.]

Damn that seems like hard work. No food. No sleep for two days, that sounds terrible! However, I have to endure if I want to get stronger.

Thank goodness I decided to bring half the fish back home, although it was hard work after 2 days, I'll need food and I'll be in a constant state of hunger. Phew I need to get mentally prepared; tonight, is going to be my last good night sleep for a while.

[Titles: Early Riser, Void Eater]

Looks like I've stacked up on on extra stamina from eating half of that fish yesterday, guess I over ate a bit. This is a nice piece of information, guess if I eat more than I need, the extra energy gets stacked up on my Stamina bar, nice. I bet there's a limit for this though, I'm going to have to test it out one day.

Alright not too bad for two days' worth of work. Time to sleep, starting from tomorrow it's going to be a challenge.
