6 [|Ch.5 Hunting|]

Italic text like this, are the mc's thoughts that are accessible to everything in his mind.

Normal text like this is the mc describing what he or others are doing, a sort of pseudo-omniscient narrator that is himself.

"Text like this is people talking."

I find myself positioned against a sturdy tree, observing Bonnibel as she takes aim at a distant creature resembling a cow. We had ventured all the way to the nearest forest, knowing that it housed the majority, if not all, of the animals in the vicinity.

Bonnibel has been patiently waiting for the opportune moment for a solid five minutes. Just as I am about to break the silence, a single hair's breadth causes her shot to miss, alerting the creature to our presence.

The creature swiftly turns towards us, prepared to flee, while Bonnibel begins the process of reloading her weapon. After a moment of contemplation, I decide to lend a hand. I seamlessly blend into the shadows cast by the tree and deftly catch up to our target.

I move into its shadow, now moving with it, I materialize a substantial portion of my arm, shaping it into a serrated blade. Surprisingly, rather than merely stalling the creature to allow Bonnibel a clear shot, I manage to slice through its entire leg and a portion of its hip, causing it to collapse.

Before long, a hole is blasted through its face, ending its suffering. I retract my hand, returning to my original two-dimensional form, and find myself panting from the exertion. "Damn, II didnt think I could sharpen myself that much" I mutter to myself as Bonnibel arrives on her bike.

She swiftly jumps off, "Thanks, didnt know you could move so fast" she says opening a compartment on the back of the bike, "No problem," I respond moving into her shadow.

She takes out what looks to be some sort of sled and throws the body onto it before tying it down securely. "This all we getting?" I ask getting a nod in response, "Yeah this will last me about 2 or 3 weeks".

.

Pinpointing the exact year was quite easy. It should be 185 AMW, going off how old Bonnie is, so I was a few decades off, but close enough I guess.

"Morning, Eni," I hear a tired voice at the entrance of the kitchen. I turn to see Bonnie, now in her teenage years.

We've been living together for about six years now. Bonnie is 13 physically, just like me. Over time, she started calling me an Enigma, and eventually, it became my name. It's still kind of weird, but she refuses to call me anything else.

The best part is that I have a full body that I can keep it active for about an hour, but at least I can move around in the light in this form. However, I usually prefer to stay in Bonnie's shadow and spend my time there. I have been practicing my shadow control powers every day and I am pretty good at it.

But manifesting physical shadows still drains my energy, so I dont do it excessively. However, it is still sufficient to accomplish anything I set my mind to.

"What are you preparing?" Bonnie inquires, taking a seat on one of the chairs next to the table where she always eats. I began cooking after our initial hunting trip, when I discovered the abominations she created.

I suppose she can't excel at everything, but it's enjoyable. I have plenty to do, and with unlimited resources, it occupies most of my time.

"Garlic and Herb Parmesan Biscuits," I reply, turning off the stove and plating her meal. I pick up the plate and hand it to a black hand forming from a nearby shadow, which places it in front of her while additional hands swiftly clean up my minimal mess.

Sometimes it's great to have powers and modern appliances. I don't know how I would have lived if I found myself here right after the mushroom war. That would have sucked.

I take a seat in front of her and place my chin on my palms. "So... how's your creation going?" I ask. Bonnie has been trying to create sentient beings after I nudged her along. Since I'm here, she doesn't feel lonely enough to try creating candy people.

"I am making progress. I will actually finish my first intelligent life from today," she responds, digging into the food I made her. "Mm... you keep getting better," she smiles, eating slightly faster.

"Of course, my skills were subpar when I first started, but that tasted like heaven with all the burnt pieces of trash you were eating," I tease, getting a cute pout. "I don't have time for things like this. That's why you are here, to work as my maid," she fires back.

I am capable of completing tasks quickly and efficiently. Using my shadows, I can clean our entire house and do laundry and cooking in just a few minutes. However, upon reflection, I realize that this arrangement is not fair.

"Hey this aint fair" I grumble, which elicits a chuckle. Before I can voice my thoughts, Bonnie pushes her empty plate towards me and asks for more. I sigh and reply, "Nope."

She pleads again, this time using puppy dog eyes. Reluctantly, I give in and say, "Ugh.... Fine." I stand up and begin working, reminding her that she owes me for this favor.
