14 Chapter – 14 Youth Devil Gathering & Ball

"Beautiful ladies, fearsome men, and other esteemed guests,

May I have your attention, please?

As we approach the grand finale of this splendid evening, it is my utmost honor to announce the much-anticipated culmination of our noble gathering. We have journeyed through an evening filled with elegance, grace, and enchantment, and now it is time to embrace the climactic wrap-up of this unforgettable event." Suddenly, the voice of the Master of Ceremonies resounded through the hall drawing up the attention of all the devils, including Nova, and the young devils around him.

"A climactic wrap-up? Is there any other event part of this Youth Devil gathering that we weren't told about?" muttered Sairaorg with a confused expression.

"Seems to be the case," answered Rias, as she and her peerage looked toward the balcony.

"I see… so that's what it is." Spoke Nova as he opened his eyes. His tone seemed to tell that he knows something regarding what the Master of Ceremony just spoke.

Standing beside Nova, Sona noted his strange behaviour, and questioned, "Nova is something the matter?"

"Eh? Oh… it's just that…" Before Nova could answer, the voice of the Master of Ceremonies once again resounded through the hall, "In just a few moments, the doors to the magnificent ballroom shall open, unveiling a breathtaking sight that will transport us into a realm of refined splendour. An exquisite ball dance awaits, where the melodies of the orchestra will entwine with the graceful steps of our esteemed guests, creating a symphony of beauty and harmony.

Tonight, we shall become part of a timeless tradition, where each twirl and sway will encapsulate the very essence of this momentous Youth Devil Gathering. So, I implore you, lords, ladies, and the dearest young devils, to find your partners, grasp their hands, and let the rhythm guide you as we unite in a captivating display of elegance and togetherness.

Let the grand finale of this splendid affair be etched in our memories as a testament to the bonds forged, the laughter shared, and the memories created. Through the power of unity and celebration, we shall leave an indelible mark on this night, a mark that resonates long after the final notes of the waltz.

Now, let us prepare to embark on this enchanting ball dance, where we shall revel in the radiance of camaraderie and elegance. May this climactic wrap-up be an unforgettable culmination, a reflection of the magnificence and grandeur that has permeated this gathering.

I invite you all to immerse yourselves in this moment of splendour and allow the magic of the ballroom to weave its spell upon us. With hearts full of joy and spirits aflame, let us dance, united in our shared appreciation for the beauty of this occasion.

Thank you, distinguished guests, for gracing us with your presence, and may this climactic ball dance be the crowning jewel of an extraordinary evening."

As the Master of Ceremonies finished with the announcement, the hall was drowned in whispers.

"Eh? A Ball? I wasn't told of this!" muttered Rias, a little annoyed. She was annoyed that she might have to partner up with that arrogant pervert from the House of Phenex. Even if Rias doesn't want to accept it, as per the arrangements made by their parents that guy is her Fiancé! If they were told of this beforehand, she would have been able to make prior arrangements with someone else… for instance Nova!

As Rias muttered her frustration, Sairaorg, who had been observing the situation, approached her with a concerned expression. He could sense his cousin's unease and wanted to offer his support.

"Rias, I can see that you're not thrilled about partnering up with your fiancé for this dance," Sairaorg said gently, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "But remember, we're here to celebrate and enjoy the evening. I'll be here for you no matter what."

Rias sighed, appreciating Nova's understanding. "I know, Sai. It's just... I wish I had known about this beforehand. I would have made different arrangements. Dancing with Riser is the last thing I want."

"If that's the case, maybe I can help." Spoke Sairaorg as he extended his hand towards Rias, "Dancing with your cousin shouldn't be that annoying, right?"

"Are you asking me for a dance?" asked Rias as she raised her eyebrow in surprise.

"Yes." Nodded Sairaorg, and asked, "So, do you want to?"

"Dancing with you is much better than that arrogant pervert." Spoke Rias as she grasped Sairaorg's hand. Sairaorg is not only her cousin, but he is also the heir of the House of Bael, so partnering up with Sairaorg is her best choice at the moment. As arrogant and foolish Riser may be, he wouldn't do anything foolish enough to offend the House of Bael.

"So, it seems… we have a Ball awaiting us." Muttered Sona. Unlike Rias, she wasn't annoyed, after all, she doesn't have a fiancé whom she finds to be annoying. Therefore, Sona is all right with the Ball. The only problem is, there is hardly anyone who meets her requirements.

'Perhaps Nova? If he is not dancing with someone else, that is.' Thought Sona as she glanced at Nova from the corner of her eyes. The expectations in her eyes were obvious.

Noting Sona's expectant gaze, Nova turned to her, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. "Sona, it seems we have a ball dance awaiting us. Shall we seize this opportunity and create a moment to remember?"

Sona, caught off guard by the sudden proposal, smiled and nodded. "Indeed, Nova. Let's make the most of this grand finale and enjoy the dance together."

Lavinia, Artoria, and Tsubaki wished all the best to their masters, as Nova and Sona made their way towards the centre of the ballroom, joining the other young devils who were finding their partners. As they stood there, the anticipation of the dance filled the air, and Nova couldn't help but feel a sense of intrigue and adventure.

As the doors to the ballroom swung open, revealing the breathtaking sight within, the couples began to take their positions. The soft melodies of the orchestra began to fill the air, coaxing the devils onto the dance floor.

Nova extended his hand towards Sona, a warm smile gracing his lips. "May I have this dance, my lady?"

Sona accepted his hand, her eyes shining with excitement. "Certainly, my lord. Let's make this dance a memory we cherish."

With the first notes of the waltz, they embraced each other, their bodies moving in perfect synchronization. They glided across the polished floor, lost in the enchantment of the music. As they danced, their eyes locked, communicating a depth of understanding and camaraderie that words couldn't capture.

As they danced, their eyes locked, communicating a depth of understanding and camaraderie that words couldn't capture.

As the second song began, the pace of the dance shifted, allowing Sona and Nova to explore a more intricate dance routine. Their movements became fluid, their chemistry undeniable.

Sona looked at Nova, her voice filled with a mixture of amusement and appreciation. "You know, Nova, I never thought I'd say this, but dancing with you isn't as terrible as I imagined. I am grateful for this dance."

Nova's laughter filled the air, his eyes shining with genuine delight. "I'm glad to hear that, Sona. Perhaps there's more to our interactions than meets the eye. Tonight, let's use this dance to deepen the bonds between us."

Sona's expression softened, her voice carrying a gentle warmth. "I feel the same, Nova. We've come a long way as friends, and I'm excited to create more memories with you."

They twirled and spun, their laughter mingling with the melodies. The dance became a symbol of their trust and support for each other, strengthening the foundation of their friendship.

Unbeknownst to the two young devils, Nova Agares and Sona Sitri, the Lords and Ladies of House Agares and House Sitri observed their children's interaction with gentle smiles from the Mezzanine. From their vantage point, they could see the budding connection and camaraderie between Nova and Sona, which filled them with a sense of optimism and contentment.

Turning to her companion, Selene Sitri, Libra Agares inquired with a fond expression, "What are your thoughts, Selene? It appears our children have developed a remarkable rapport. Personally, I find no objection to these arrangements."

Selene Sitri, her gaze fixed on the young Agares, nodded in agreement. "Indeed, they do seem to get along exceptionally well. I believe this engagement holds great potential for both of our houses. I am in favour of it."

Julius Agares, a long-time friend of Savion Sitri, directed his question to his companion. "And what is your perspective, Savion? Do you share our sentiments?"

Savion Sitri nodded; his eyes filled with conviction. "I am aligned with my wife's viewpoint. Furthermore, this union between our houses has the potential to bring benefits not only to our families but to the entire Devil community. I see no reason to oppose it."

With unanimous agreement reached among the Lords and Ladies, Julius Agares declared with a sense of purpose, "Very well. Let it be known that the House of Agares and the House of Sitri shall unite through the engagement of our children. May this union solidify our alliance and pave the way for a prosperous future."

Meanwhile, Rias and Sairaorg found themselves dancing together, their steps surprisingly graceful despite their initial reservations. As they moved across the dance floor, their conversation became laced with playful banter, as they started to enjoy the moment.

As they twirled and swayed, their conversation shifted from their previous annoyance to playful banter, infused with a newfound sense of camaraderie. Rias couldn't help but steal a glance at the dissatisfied Riser, her smile hinting at a triumphant message: "I am stronger than you think!"

Amused by his cousin's audacious display, Sairaorg couldn't help but chuckle. "Is Riser truly that unbearable?"

Rias sighed in exasperation. "You have no idea. I can barely tolerate his arrogance. All he does is boast about his House and belittle others." She then turned her attention back to Sairaorg, determined to leave Riser behind. "But enough about him. I have no interest in discussing that guy."

Sairaorg smiled, his mischievous side surfacing. "Fair enough. I must admit, dearest cousin, you make quite a captivating dance partner."

Rias rolled her eyes at his flattery. "Despite being a complete muscle-head, you certainly know how to charm women." Despite her playful retort, a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Perhaps you should try those words on Arheya next time. Who knows, they might work their magic on her."

"Perhaps," Sairaorg mused, his smile widening. "I shall give it a try when I have become a strong [King]." His gaze briefly shifted to where Arheya was dancing with her cousin, Zephyrdor.

"Feeling a tinge of jealousy, are we?" Rias teased mischievously.

Sairaorg shook his head, his expression serene. "Not at all."

Rias feigned disappointment. "Oh, how boring. I was hoping to see a cute reaction from you."

Sairaorg's smile remained unyielding as they continued their dance, their steps perfectly in sync. The playful banter and light-hearted moments between them exemplified the newfound bond and understanding that had grown between Rias and Sairaorg.

As the music swelled around them, their shared experience on the dance floor served as a testament to their evolving relationship. With each step, they set aside their differences, embracing the joy of the moment and forming a connection that extended beyond their roles as cousins.

Together, Rias and Sairaorg wove a tale of unexpected friendship and mutual support, showing that even in the face of predetermined engagements and societal expectations, genuine connections could be formed. Their dance became a symbol of breaking free from constraints and embracing the freedom to choose their own paths.

After the opening dance concluded, Nova found himself paired with his distant cousin, Latia Astaroth. The two shared a close bond and often spent time together, relishing in each other's company. Nova couldn't help but feel a tinge of sympathy for Latia, who had been saddled with her cousin Diodora for the opening dance. However, true to his character, Diodora disappeared immediately after the dance, uninterested in such "useless and petty" activities.

Apparently, Diodora had developed a peculiar fascination with nuns. His current peerage members were deceived nuns who had been excommunicated from the Church. Instead of participating in the ball, Diodora's mind was occupied with plotting his next target.

Grateful for the opportunity to dance with someone enjoyable, Nova twirled and spun with his cousin Latia, engaging in playful banter and laughter. Their dance was filled with joy and lightheartedness, showcasing the close relationship they shared as a family.

As the dance progressed, Nova's attention shifted to his good friend Rias. With her, the dance took on a different dynamic, brimming with fun and friendship. The two exchanged jokes and shared stories, their steps perfectly in sync as they revelled in each other's presence.

Following his dance with Rias, Nova found himself partnered with Arheya, the heir of the House of Glasya-Labolas. Although their interaction lacked any romantic undertones, Nova discovered Arheya's charm and found himself genuinely intrigued by her personality. Their dance was filled with pleasant conversation and light-hearted banter, as they exchanged thoughts and experiences.

Continuing the festivities, Nova then turned his attention to his peerage members, Lavinia and Artoria. Their commitment to the dance was evident, as they moved with grace and precision. The three of them revelled in the camaraderie and shared a sense of purpose and unity.

However, Nova's compassionate nature prompted him to approach Tsubaki, Sona's trusted [Queen], and request a dance. Nervousness flickered in Tsubaki's eyes as she hesitantly accepted his invitation. It was clear that she didn't want to feel left out, but the attention made her slightly uneasy. Nonetheless, Nova's warm smile and reassuring presence soon put her at ease as they joined the other couples on the dance floor.

Throughout the night, Nova embraced the joy of the ball, engaging in fun interactions and strengthening his connections with those around him. The dances with his cousin, Latia, his dear friend Rias, and the charming Arheya were filled with friendship and lightheartedness. The commitment and dedication shown by Lavinia and Artoria further deepened their bond as a peerage, while Nova's considerate gesture towards Tsubaki showcased his thoughtfulness and inclusiveness.

As the night progressed, Nova's experiences on the dance floor continued to shape his understanding of relationships and the power of genuine connections. The ball served as a reminder that amidst the grandeur and formalities, it was the moments of fun, laughter, and friendship that truly mattered. And in Nova's case, those moments would leave a lasting impression on his journey as a young devil.

As Cleria Belial continued walking through the hallways, her inner turmoil intensified, and the weight of her worries pressed upon her soul. The secret affair with Masaomi, the Church Warrior, had become a source of both joy and trepidation in her life. The forbidden love between a pure-blood devil and an enemy of their race was a precarious tightrope she walked upon, fearing the consequences that could come crashing down upon them.

In the depths of her mind, Cleria grappled with the potential repercussions of their relationship becoming public knowledge. Being a member of the House of Belial, even if from the branch lineage, she understood the expectations and responsibilities that came with her noble heritage. The thought of disappointing her Elder Brother Diehauser, loomed over her, fueling her anxiety.

'Would Diehauser accept my forbidden love for Masaomi? Would he understand the depth of my feelings and grant me his blessing? Or would he be disappointed, forbidding me from ever setting foot in Kuoh Town again?' The uncertainty of her cousin's reaction gnawed at Cleria's heart, injecting fear into her every thought.

But Cleria was not blind to the immense challenges Masaomi faced in this forbidden affair. As a Church Warrior, his transgression of falling in love with the devil is an unforgivable sin. The consequences for him, should their secret be exposed, were far graver than her own. It was not just the disapproval of his fellow church members that he would have to endure; his life could be forfeit, sacrificed as an example to deter others from treading a similar path.

Together, Cleria and Masaomi had desperately sought a way to navigate the treacherous waters of their predicament, but at every turn, they encountered insurmountable obstacles. The weight of their secrets burdened them, leaving them feeling trapped and helpless.

'Sigh… what must I do to earn my brother's approval?' Amidst her worries, Cleria found herself absentmindedly strolling through the dimly lit hallways as she made her way towards the Washroom. The flickering candlelight cast haunting shadows, reflecting the turmoil within her heart. Lost in her thoughts, as she approached the bend, her eyes widened in surprise and curiosity. Two figures, their identities concealed within the depths of the shadows, engaged in an intense conversation.

Intrigued by their words mentioning Diehauser Belial, and Rating Games, Cleria instinctively retreated to a nearby alcove, allowing herself to become an unseen witness to their discourse.

"Nothing seems to work against that man! How in the world did he manage to attain such unfathomable strength? He is not a user of that thing… yet Diehauser Belial is undefeated in the Rating Games! Even I was unable to best him despite the increase in my strength after you gave me that thing… I simply do not understand, it doesn't make any sense!"

The voices she overheard spoke of the Rating Games, a renowned competition between Devils with a peerage, where the Devils compete for supremacy and glory. These mysterious figures lamented their repeated failures against a single adversary—the undefeated champion, Diehauser Belial. Their frustration echoed in their voices as they mentioned their futile attempts to vanquish him.

"Although incredibly rare, it's not unheard of… There are instances of Devils with strength beyond reasoning being born, the current Four Devil Kings are prime examples… and Diehauser Belial is one such being. I reckon he is one of the five strongest Devils alive." Answered another figure, and added after a pause, "And… do not speak of that thing at such a place, what do you think would happen if someone heard you? No one should come to know of its existence! It will be a lot of trouble should information about it comes into someone's knowledge. It has the potential of changing the balance of power within the Underworld, and cause chaos!"

One of the figures warned against mentioning the 'thing,' emphasizing the importance of its secrecy. The significance of this undisclosed object intrigued Cleria even further, as it seemed to hold the potential to disrupt the balance of power within the Devil's realm. Its very existence was to remain hidden, a secret that carried great consequences should it fall into the wrong hands.

"Ah… yes…" the first figure realized his mistake and looked around, trying to confirm that they were alone.

'Oops' Cleria's heart raced, her fear of being discovered momentarily overwhelming her. She held her breath, praying that her presence remained concealed within the shadows. With a silent sigh of relief, she realized that her hidden vantage point had shielded her from the first figure's gaze.

After confirming that they were alone, the first figure, asked, "So, have you thought of something? At this rate, winning against Diehauser Belial is next to impossible, even that thing is of no use against him."

Cleria's ears strained to catch every word of the conversation between the mysterious figures. The mention of a certain 'thing' piqued her curiosity, adding another layer of intrigue to the already enigmatic situation.

The second figure sighed, and nodded, "I do have something in mind, but it will take time, so be patient until then. You will have your chance!"

Cleria's mind buzzed with questions, her thoughts entangled in the web of information she had unintentionally stumbled upon. What role did the 'thing' mentioned by these figures play in the Rating Games that play intricate dynamics in power and influence among the Devils? And what is this 'something' in the second figure's mind?

Amidst her own struggles and forbidden love, Cleria found herself drawn deeper into the mysteries of the 'thing' and the hidden secrets that surrounded the Rating Games. The desire to understand these mysteries ignited within her, setting the stage for a series of unexpected discoveries that would forever change the course of her life.
