Unlocking the Second Phase

Daimen woke up in an unfamiliar environment. He sighed and looked around, trying to figure out where he was. All he could see were lifeless goblin bodies lying on the ground. He found himself amidst the bodies and green blood of his enemies. Suddenly, memories flooded his mind of meeting Nyx and becoming her avatar.

He sighed and gazed at his right shoulder, where a tattoo of a black rose with chains engraved on it adorned his skin.

[Notice: Congratulations, host, on completing the quest

Kill 300 Goblins

Kill 200 Hobgoblins

Kill the Goblin Chief

Rewards: Level 38 Abyss Slasher (dual daggers) Grade C-]

[Processing.....]

[Host earned the title Goblin Slayer and Champion of Eternal Darkness]

[Goblin Slayer: He who has slain numerous goblins. When this title is active, all damage dealt to goblins will be 50% more effective than the initial damage.]

[Champion of Eternal Darkness: He who is favoured by the Goddess Nyx, who rules over Darkness and Shadows . This title is passively activated, enhancing the host's mastery over shadows. It also prevents detection by higher beings other than Goddess Nyx.]

After reading his acquired rewards, he felt truly content. Meeting Nyx, seemed like destiny. Daimen grinned as he rose from the pool of flesh and blood he had been lying in. He stretched, realising his body was fully recovered, and even better than before. Not dwelling on it, he focused on the dagger he had obtained from the system. It was a black obsidian blade with a crimson hilt.

[ Abyss Slasher Rank C- Grade Rare: Deals 10% more damage when delivering a fatal blow to opponents.]

"Cool," Daimen exclaimed as he held both daggers in his hands, inspecting them closely and trying out different moves. After testing them, he put them away and gazed at the corpses of his defeated enemies, particularly the Goblin King. "Thank you for the exhilarating battle," he said while looking at his enemy's Head that was laying on the ground. As he was about to move towards the door to enter the second half of the dungeon, he suddenly stopped and a massive grin spread across his face as he looked at the system screen.

[Notice: Conditions met. Host is now eligible for phase two of the Shadow Monarch's powers.]

[Processing....]

[Phase Two

Shadow Extraction: The most potent ability of the Shadow Monarch, allowing him to extract the shadows of his defeated opponents and integrate them into his army with unwavering loyalty. The shadows will endure as long as the host has mana to sustain them. They are immortal beings.

Shadow Exchange: A teleportation ability that enables hosts to switch places with shadows. Distances are inconsequential, as long as the shadows are alive. The host can even teleport to different realms.]

As soon as the system announced the second phase, Daimen's body heated up, surrounded by a surge of black mana, and the entire goblin dungeon plunged into eerie darkness.

Daimen stood amidst the darkness, his purple eyes glowing. Unprecedented power surged through his body, making him feel invincible. Black mana raged around him, causing his muscles to twitch and grow stronger, while his mana pool expanded multiple times over. Daimen had never experienced such euphoria.

As the process continued, Daimen stood silently, allowing it to reach completion on its own.

[Notice: Host's body has been perfectly assembled and adapted to Phase Two.]

Daimen sighed, clenching his fist. He could feel power coursing through his veins, making him believe he could crush anyone with his strength.

[Notice: Would the host like to set a keyword for summoning Shadow soldiers?]

"Hmmmm, a keyword, huh?" Daimen entered a deep state of thought. After a few minutes, he finally said, "Let's go with 'ARISE' like the original." In the end, he chose to stick with the original because it sounded cool and badass. He couldn't wait to try it out.

[Notice: Understood. The keyword for summoning shadow soldiers will be 'arise.'

Currently, the host can awaken the following number of shadow soldiers:

10 normal-grade soldiers with a strength of C-

1 elite-grade soldier with a strength of B-]

Daimen grinned while reading the system notice. He was excited to test out his new powers that he had acquired today. He had certainly benefited a lot, hadn't he? Kekw.

Fortunately, he was still in the boss room of the dungeon's first half. He grinned as he looked at the lifeless corpse of the Goblin King. He knew that awakening him would prove beneficial in the long run, as he was quite powerful.

[Notice: The system has placed some clothes in the inventory for the host to wear. :)]

Daimen glanced at his inventory, where he found a black t-shirt, a long black trench coat that reached his knees, and a pair of sneakers. He was surprised to see that these were the same clothes Sung-Jinwoo used to wear. Shaking his head, he thought, 'I'm not Sung-Jinwoo. I'm Daimen, and this is my story.'

"Hey Sys, how can I access the inventory?" Daimen asked, as he had no prior knowledge of its existence. It was new to him.

[Notice: The inventory is a subspace where the host can store non-living things, and time is stopped within the subspace to prevent spoilage. It has a 4x4 cubic space and 24 slots. The host can simply think 'inventory,' and the logs will open on the screen, allowing the host to choose what they want.]

"Okay, here goes nothing."

'Inventory.' A screen popped up with square logs. One log contained clothes, while the others were empty. It had 24 slots.

He simply thought of clothes appearing in his hands. Within a second, the material of the clothes materialized, and Daimen could feel their texture.

[Notice: These clothes are indestructible. They can regenerate if torn or burned, and they have an auto-clean feature. Now, the host need not worry about getting naked during a fight.]

Daimen was satisfied with the clothes. He no longer had to worry about being exposed in battle. "Hmm, these are of excellent quality indeed," he thought as he undressed and put on the fresh set of clothes. After dressing up, Daimen stood with both hands tucked into the side pockets of the trench coat and approached the corpse of the Goblin King lying nearby.

He looked at the giant frame and took a deep breath. With a deep voice, he muttered, "ARISE," causing his black shadow to expand and envelop the entire body of the motionless Goblin King. In an instant, the shadow swallowed it whole. Daimen felt his mana depleting rapidly, but he didn't mind, as he had plenty to spare. His main priority was to acquire his first Shadow soldier.

After a few seconds, a black hand emerged from the Goblin King's body, smashing onto the ground as the soldier fully emerged. He appeared slightly smaller than before, standing in front of Daimen with his head lowered, purple eyes fixed on him.

"Are you my master?" DingDong asked.

Daimen wasn't surprised by DingDong speaking. Even before becoming a shadow, DingDong had been able to communicate with him effortlessly. Daimen looked at the now docile and calmer Goblin King and grinned. He was much more powerful now than ever before.

"Indeed, I am your master now," Daimen nodded in response to DingDong's question. However, the system screen suddenly appeared.

[Notice: This soldier can be named. Would the host like to give the soldier a name?

Yes/No]

"Say, wasn't your name DingDong before?"

"Indeed, master. My name was DingDong," the soldier replied, nodding in agreement.

Daimen clicked on "Yes" and looked at DingDong, searching for a suitable name. "Hmm, what should I name you? Ah, I know. How about Khalf? What do you think?"

DingDong—now known as Khalf—burst into tears as his eyes welled up. "THANK YOU, MY LORD! I WILL CHERISH THAT NAME HICK."

Daimen looked at him with annoyance as the loud cries blasted his eardrums. He clenched his hands and swiftly moved towards Khalf's head, delivering a firm bonk. "Shut up, you're too loud."

"Hick, sorry, my lord. I got a bit excited," Daimen sighed as he looked at the massive black purplish Goblin. He shook his head, sporting a small smile. Today had been a hectic day, and he found himself missing his mother's cooking. "I've grown too attached to my mother, huh? Well, this isn't a bad feeling either."

He glanced around and expanded his shadow, summoning 10 Hob-Goblins to serve as his new normal soldiers. With one elite-grade soldier and 10 normal soldiers, he was prepared to face the next dungeon. He cracked his knuckles and commanded, "Get in my shadow, Shadow Soldiers. It's time to move on. It's been a couple of days since I've been in this dungeon. On to the next part." Following his order, all the Shadow soldiers seamlessly merged into his shadow, leaving no trace. This was just the beginning for the being who would shake the entire reality as he continued to grow stronger alongside his soldiers.

As Daimen pushed open the silver door, he was instantly blinded by a bright light. Within moments, he found himself teleported to the next part of the dungeon.
