It was cold in the surviving community of the city of Southampton. It had snowed enough to bury a grown man in the snow without a problem, the signs of colds were everywhere.

"This is going to be a problem..." muttered Oliver as he brushed the snow off the roads.

"Oliver, wait!" I heard a familiar female voice shout my name.

Oliver stopped work and waited for her to approach him as he panted through the cold winter air.

" Ahh, wow I'm freezing....well Oliver my father asked me to stop him. You know the rule, people over sixteen should accumulate energy and not waste it. Your awakening is near a- "

" I know Celiny. We must conserve our energies to awaken a power strong enough to protect us. " Says Oliver with boredom visible in his voice.

" Oh come on Oliver. " she says with an almost contagious animation. "We who were born after the wave have the opportunity to develop incredible powers to fight for our survival."

" You know my father says that the survivors of ancient Norway worship the most powerful super's are worshiped as gods....imagine Oliver what glo- "

"Okay Celiny, no need to come with your fancy speeches. It would be great to be worshiped as a god okay, but unfortunately most super's are just second wave."

"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to rest to gain an extremely great skill and become a god." After saying that Oliver walked towards a house that showed to have suffered a lot with the action of the weather.

Oliver was a tall young man of almost 16 years old, he had dark hair that curled around his eyes, he had a pretty face that could work as a model if the world hadn't fallen into disarray and destruction. His eyes were black and the color of his skin was white a step away from the pallor.

Oliver reached for it and picked up some branches heading towards the old-looking fireplace, intending to light it. Oliver placed a mattress and some blankets beside the fireplace and burrowed into the mountain of blankets for warmth.

The other day early in the morning Oliver got up when he received a knock on his door.

" Damn more already!. " He muttered complaining to whoever had heard.

Oliver opened the door and saw Celiny standing there with a slight smile on her cherry lips. "Good morning Oliver, I came to accompany you to the city hall, I hope I haven't woken you up too early." She said with a few giggles.

" Good whatever. " He said sullenly. Oliver poured water to heat in the fireplace while he looked for something to eat.

Picking up the heated water Oliver washed his face and brushed his teeth with a homemade toothpaste. He picked up a fruit he had found, bit into it and headed towards the door gesturing for Celiny to follow him.

As they walked to City Hall Celiny discussed various topics while Oliver just agreed with her.

Arriving at the city hall, a great big white building, no longer immaculate. The building was run down to a worrying degree but the small community did what they could to maintain the buildings.

Entering the town hall they were guided through corridors to a large ballroom. There were a few hundred young women about the age of Oliver and Celiny.

A Caucasian male of average height who looked no more than 45 years old climbed the topmost part.

" Well my name is Charles Smith, I'm in the position of mayor and I ask that all of you young people stay here to wake up with more security. You all have great potential. I trust our future in you! " He said with enthusiasm.

He went down and greeted each person in the room and when he was finished he excused himself and left.

Everyone didn't know what to do. They didn't know about the awakening process, there was nothing in books and the internet was a thing of the past. Oliver and Celiny sat on the floor and leaned against a wall as they chatted excitedly.

The first one to wake up was a dark-skinned boy, his name was Nathan, he fell to the ground and started screaming in pain, after 30 minutes he stopped and remained unconscious on the ground. Nathan seemed to have started a domino effect, as everyone in the room was suffering the same fate.

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath Oliver began to wait his turn calmly, but his calm was broken when a searing pain hit him.

His marrow felt like it was being ripped out, his bones ached so badly they felt like they were being ground up, his blood felt like it was made of thick, hot lava. After a while Oliver finally stopped his screams falling headlong into the dream world.
