Accepting The Duel

The next morning when Allen woke up, he took his bath and got dressed, ready to go to the Dean's office. As he opened the door of his room, he saw Sam waiting for him by the door.

"What is it? How long have you been here?" He asked him, not minding to greet him first.

"I came to remind you that the Dean wants to see you this morning and I've been here for an hour," Sam replied.

"You don't need to remind me, I don't forget things," Allen replied and closed his door. "You shouldn't have waited for me here, it's cold out here," he said and began to walk away.

"I don't see anything wrong with it, let's go," Sam replied and followed him.

Soon, they arrived at the Dean's office and Allen proceeded to go in while Sam waited for him outside.

"Good morning, sir," Allen greeted him.

"Good morning, I called you here so that you can take your ability test. Are you ready?" The Dean asked him.

"I am," Allen replied.

"Okay," the Dean said and stood up. "Follow me," he said and headed to a door that was on the wall. He pushed open the door and went through it with Allen walking behind him. The next place Allen found himself was in a white room with a large device before him. "Go and stand over there!" The Dean ordered him and he obeyed and went over to where the device was kept and stood on it.

[An unknown application is trying to access your information, should I limit its access?]

Hearing the system's question, Allen felt quite relieved because he was scared of them finding out that he was a vampire. ' Yes, please' He replied and relaxed himself.

After a while, a holographic image of his name and other things appeared right before him.

Name: Allen Hunter

Age: 16

Ability: Copy

Description: This is the ability to copy anyone's ability by touching them.

-----------

Seeing the information on the holographic image, Allen smiled inwardly. This was perfect, just perfect. Everyone will know that his ability is copy, no one would know that he has more than one ability and more to come. The only downside is that he can't copy other's abilities by just touching them rather, he'll have to have a taste of their blood to do that.

"Good, you can now go," the Dean said to him and led him out of the room, back to his office. "Classes will begin tomorrow again but before then, I'll arrange for your uniforms to be given to you soon. For now, you can go," he added as he sat down on his chair.

Allen made to leave but then he stopped and turned back again. "If I may ask. Some students came to me demanding a duel, should I comply? Or forfeit?" He asked the Dean.

It took the Dean some minutes before he sighed and answered him. "You must duel with them but strive hard to win so that you won't leave the school. I wouldn't wish to see you leave but I have no power over those kids," he said with a heavy heart.

"What if it escalates? Can I kill them if I have to?" Allen asked him again.

"You must do what you have to if you want to win, don't hold back," the Dean replied truthfully.

Allen nodded and left the office, he was initially not interested in the duel but now that killing the opponent isn't a problem, he was suddenly eager to do it.

"Sam, let's go. I want to accept the duel," he said to the surprised man.

"Have you been invited to a duel? So quick? These kids are becoming more wild these days," Sam mumbled but it was clear enough for Allen to hear him.

"I don't care how wild they are or they tend to become, they asked for it and I'll give it to them however they like it," Allen replied with a sinister smile.

Sam gazed at him with wide eyes. ' I can hear his heartbeats, they are beating so fast and loud that my eardrums are about to explode ' You should forfeit, those kids aren't just regular kids that only know how to bully weaker ones. They are far more than just bullies," he said to Allen.

"I don't expect you to encourage me but at least, don't weaken my morals all in the name of giving me advice. I've been itching for a serious fight with a fellow human being, not just any fight but a blood-spilling fight, and now that the requirements have been made, nothing's gonna change my mind. All I ask is that you take me to where those boys live and then you are free to leave my side," Allen replied.

"Come, let me take you to their hostel," Sam said to him after a sigh. He had seen that Allen wasn't going to change his mind about the duel and all he could was support him no matter how little it was. He led him to the hostel and straight to the room where the boys were occupying. "This is their room," he said while pointing at the door of the room.

"Thank you, you can leave," Allen said to him and went to knock on the door.

After some seconds, the door was opened by the silver-haired boy. Seeing Allen, he was quite taken aback and curious at the same time.

"I accept the duel, let us get it done today," Allen said to him.

As surprised as he was, the boy didn't say a word and kept staring at Allen.

"Didn't you hear me?" Allen asked him. "If you are no longer interested, call your boss out. I'll duel him instead!"

"What?" The boy gasped. "Fight my boss? That's so ridiculous," he scoffed.

"Then, get yourself ready, and let's leave!" Allen coldly replied.

The boy smiled and finally agreed. "Very well then, I shall go prepare. Wait a bit for me," he said to Allen and went back inside the room. Later he came out with a new set of clothes. "Let's go," he said and began to walk away.

Allen turned to leave but he saw Sam by the corner of the wall and stopped. "I told you to leave, what are you still doing here?" He asked him.

"To show my support," Sam replied with a wry smile.

"Whatever, do what you want," Allen said and walked away from him.
