'I've been thinking about our talk yesterday. I still want to join the guard in the long term, but I can't go back to the wizard school. The girls are treated appallingly there, and it was worse for me, because everyone assumed I was only accepted because I'm a princess.'

There, she had finally said it. Clasping her hands more tightly, she waited for her mother's lecture on how she shouldn't allow what other people thought of her to hold her back.
