Aliah glanced up from the papers she was studying and spoke to the merchant standing patiently by her desk. 'Everything looks in order here. I will pass the documents on to the king, and he will add them to the offers being discussed with the delegation from Carsten.'

The rather rotund man managed an awkward bow and stammered, 'Thank you, Your Majesty,' as he backed towards the door, which the guard opened for him.

'Can you ask the others to give me a few minutes. I'll let you know when I am done,' Aliah told the woman assigned as her daily protection. The guard nodded curtly and closed the door behind her, leaving Aliah alone.

"Seamus, I am all yours".

"Sorry to bother you. You must have an awful lot to organise."

"I do, but I am certain it will be all cleared up by tomorrow, or at least handed off to Dominic to deal with. How can I help you?"
