EVIL ALEX

Time being no one's relative moved fast and it was Monday already and Emma was enthusiastic about going to work this was her first job ever since she relocated to the city. The wind was blowing through the open windows of her new apartment carrying the scent of mother nature outside the building however peace was already hanging on a fine cobweb that could easily fall at any disturbance. Emma woke up very early and did all her house chores took a shower and got ready to be picked up by the company driver since she did not have a driver's license.

At exactly 6:45 am the driver was already downstairs waiting patiently for her. She went down and met the driver and the two went to the company. When she arrived she was given her employee work card which she would use to access the company's doors which were electronic. Just then she met the receptionist after coming from the IT department and thought it was good to greet her and try to make friends.

"good morning", she said.

"Well, you are now part of us. It's Emma right am Janet nice to meet you", the receptionist said whilst smiling.

"nice to meet you too Janet. I hope we will treat each other very well, now I need to drop my bag in my office. I'll be right back", Emma said.

She moved quickly and she used the VIP elevator which was meant only for the CEO and his secretaries from his floor. Emma arrived at the floor took some cleaning utensils and started cleaning the office before her boss came. However downstairs Alexander had arrived earlier than usual so everyone was not expecting him when he came so when they were about to form their usual line he stopped them.

"thank you but from today onwards do not come to greet me, now go to your respective departments, and let work", he said his eyes searching amongst the crowd for the person he spent the weekend planning to torture her mercilessly.

He took the elevator and he caught a female fragrance the moment he stepped foot inside which indicated that someone was in the office. When he arrived at his shared office he caught a glimpse of Emma tidying everything in the office and cleaning it spotless clean. At first, he was taken aback by her hardworking but the moment she greeted him this option of hers quickly vanished.

"good morning sir", she said politely.

"well it was a very good morning until your ugly face and voice ruined my mood", he said with authority walked past her, and sat in his seat.

Emma took the cleaning utensils back to the storeroom and tidied herself up waitin' for her boss's commands.

"you come here ", he said commandingly.

She obediently went and stood in front of him waiting for his orders.

"Now I want you to go and get me a cup of latte please and some breath mints for you too", he said looking at the documents on his table.

Emma went downstairs and went to the reception to ask where she could buy the latte from.

"Janet can I ask you a question please, I want to ask which store around here the boss wants a cup of latte', she asked gasping for breath.

"it's just across the road be careful the road is always busy during this time of the day", she said cautiously.

"thank you". Emma expressed her gratitude to her and went out

She went to the internet café as the name said and bought what she was asked to buy. Just as she was coming out she found out that the traffic was busy at that moment so she had to wait for it to stop before she could cross the road. After 3 minutes the green light turned on in her favor and she rushed towards the company with all her might. Everyone saw her and some looked at her with sympathy. Inside the office, the devil was holding his fork waiting anxiously to stab his victim with it. When the door was opened he looked up and saw the woman gasping for breath showing that she was tired from running he perfectly knew that traffic had stopped her at some point but he was determined to make her life terrible.

"You 3 minutes late, if you are late again I'll not hesitate to remove 10 % of your monthly salary now give me the cup", he said with disgust evident on his face

"sorry sir", she said.

As she was about to turn back the man threw the cup on the floor and asked her to clean it up.

"it's cold now clean this mess and go back and get me another cup quickly", he said seriously.

Emma did not take it to heart she did all she was asked and ran back to the shop to buy the cup of latte again. The shopkeeper was surprised to see the young woman done already with the first cup he had just served her, so he could not help but ask to feed his curiosity about what was taking place.

"excuse me young lady are you already done with the cup I just served not 10 minutes ago", he asked in a friendly manner.

'yes uncle I like it so can you make it extra hot for me please', she asked and the man did not understand what she meant but the customer was king and he had to make sure that they left his shop satisfied.

Emma was given the cup and ran with all her might back to the office with the extra hot cup which was hurting her hand. When she entered the room the man looked at her provocatively and couldn't help but tease her.

"if it is too much work for you I can take your resignation letter here on my desk at the end of the day and you will receive your pay by today's performance am I understood now give me my latte please", he said teasingly.

"no sir I like working for you, here you go', she said while giving the man his cup of latte but the man took a few seconds to look at her palms which were now red from the exposure to too much heat just now.

"girl I can't understand what the others saw in you I said I need a hot cup of latte I didn't say I want this over-boiled thing you call … whatever you name it. Now listen carefully go back and get me another cup, clear this trash off my desk please", the man arrogantly said.

Emma's confidence and ego were being trampled with and she was finding it hard to breathe at work maybe he was getting back at her for what she did to him before in the bar, how childish she said. She collected her sanity and walked with confidence as she went again to the shopkeeper for another cup. Everyone in the company was gossiping about how unlike she was to work in the same office as the CEO, whilst others laughed at how she was being used as a maid by him.

When she entered the store this time the generous uncle was perplexed as to why she was continuously coming back now and then ordering the same thing since now was the umpteenth time.

'my dear is everything okay you seem to be continuously coming back to my store after exactly 10 minutes care to tell me if my latte is not that top-notch here you can take two of these one is on the house", he said.

"no uncle that's not your latte I can tell from the smell is mouthwatering but the problem is that the one who ordered does not seem to be in a good mood and is trying to make my life terrible, thus why he has been sending me back and forth. Don't you worry uncle everyone in the company told me that your latte is superb when I asked them since am new in this area", Emma said trying as much as she could to praise the hardworking shop owner.

"thank you my child", the man said.

"I'll get going uncle take care", she said as she reached for the door.

She went back to the company and whilst inside everyone gave her different facial expressions. Some sympathized with her whilst some were laughing whilst pointing fingers at her. Her legs were losing strength from the running and they seemed to know the venue where they were as she almost fell when she was about to reach the CEO's door luckingly a young man who was passing by came to her rescue.

"please be careful ", the man said after saving her from falling with her in his arms.

"thank you ", she said 

'am Freddy, I saw you running earlier today a couple of times please be more careful the floors are wet and slippery this time of the day", he said smiling at her.

"Emma Stone nice to meet you, thank you for just now if you can excuse me the boss does not like to be kept waiting", she said as she reached for the door.

As she arrived the man looked at her with a frosty expression and extended his hand signaling for her to give him the cup. Now it seemed he was satisfied and drank the coffee without even thanking her. Emma went and sat after the whole morning of running errands for this man and her eyes were battling with her as she fell asleep without even realizing it.

However, on the other side the man looked at her without any emotion with a wide grin on his face but what he did not understand was why his heart was not satisfied so he put the documents he had just reviewed and smiled devilishly whilst holding them as another plan came to him now the fun begins his conscience told him.
