Adam Rising

Adam is just a human, and even worse, a man. In the far future, the known universe has been conquered and colonised, and no one can escape the grip of the master race of Vanid, nor their matriarchal cult of the Goddess. By all accounts, Adam should have died in some God-forsaken slave camp before he could reach maturity. But the fateful acts of another before him changed his destiny forever, making him a free man. As resistance blooms closer to the heart of the Empire than anyone could have guessed, the attributes that make him a disgrace might just be the key to changing the universe. If he can avoid becoming a meal first. The universe is far bigger than the minds of men could have ever imagined…

A Painful Mistake

Adam woke up with one thought filling his mind: pain.

"Ngh, What the F-Uuugh," He held his head in pain and sat up in bed, not noticing the others around him, "Why do I have such a horrible headache?"

Adam tried to think of something, anything at that moment, but his headache only throbbed painfully through his skull.

"Master, you did not make good decisions last night," his fly-like slave spoke, hesitantly stepped forward to convey the information. She was way too polite for Adam, he learned nothing from her statement.

"That tells me nothing, you need to be more blunt about it. What did I screw up last night?"

His voice was a little too loud then and he winced, the headache intensifying for a few moments.

"You got blackout drunk last night and your slug friend brought you back to us," Charles said flatly, "How could you be so dumb as to do that?"
