Thanks Again

The world spun around me in soft swirls of dancing figure eights and my head elated with the sensation of being carried away on the clouds. The sway of his body made my head come back from its lull and without meaning to I found my head resting against his chest. Pressed up against his warmth, his chest heavily weighed onto mine. My hips locked on his and my legs entangled helplessly in between the strength of his sure footed ones. It was wonderful. The soft sent of pines and something else I couldn't place was just right, neither overpowering or being too subtle to notice. He felt easy to be with, as if I had known him for ages rather than hours. I opened my eyes when I realized the soft swaying had stopped and looked up into his soft green ones. After what seemed as if a decade his arm released from around my waste and as easily as he had swept me from my senses he had planted me back solidly on the ground.

I expected him to let go completely to turn around and get back into the car and drive away. So to avoid the awkwardness that was sure to come I dug through my tiny hand purse for my apartment keys. Once I found them I started off towards the doors without a look back. My face flushed and my pulse hammering against my chest at how wonderful a moment it had been. Had I made it all up was it all in my head, was I so desperate I had created a fantasy for him and I. I took a deep breath to clear my head and I realized the sound of shoes echoing lightly on the pavement beside me. I glanced to the side and realized Cyrus was walking with me casually.

I reached the building doors put my key in the lock and turned it. Instead of opening it and venturing inside I stared at Cyrus instead unsure of why he had followed me but happy that he had. Did he want to come up because of the dance? Did he feel what I was too? Should I invite him up and take the risk of having him say no? Why did he bring me to the door? Duh , he is a gentleman he opened the doors for you tonight. He is just being polite you idiot. I relaxed upon that last thought and smiled up at him.

"Thanks again for tonight. It was fun..." As a last note I added. "I like talking with you."

"So do I, I assure you we will get a chance to do this again."

"You sound so certain of that as if you have already made the plans." I laughed.

"I always get what I want. I have never been denied anything." He responded softly. His voice was low and I felt chills run down my entire body as his words hit me. They seemed to be both exiting and a blaring signal that he could be a very bad enemy if he wanted to be. He was not a man you crossed, if you did something very bad would happen.
