96 Chapter 94

Lawrence found his wife in their room seemingly in deep thought while swirling the glass of wine in her hands. He couldn't blame her, tonight's event must have really bothered her.

He took a deep breath first before entering their room, he walked towards his wife as soon as the automatic door closed behind him.

"Your son and his wife just left. They wanted to bid you farewell but I told them not to disturb you." Lawrence stood beside his wife and let her lean on him. He gently stroked her hair with much affection.

"Tonight was that bad huh?"

"Yeah!"

"Is your son mad?"

"Who knows?"

Lawrence pulled his wife closer to him knowing full well she's very anxious and concerned.

"Do you really not like Alex? He seemed to be a pretty decent guy. I mean he's obviously not from our circle but he seemed to be raised well by his parents." Lawrence said, recalling how Alex remained respectul despite the obvious cold treatment from his wife. "Besides, you're not the type to judge people based on their second gender."

Kate did not respond but agreed to Lawrence in her head. She really is not the type to be prejudiced towards Omegas, in fact she is actively supporting a non profit organization who helps Omegas who were abandoned by their family or were assaulted by Alphas and have nowhere to go and no one to support them. She really believes that those Omegas deserve to have a better life that is why she's very adamant in supporting their cause. However, she realized that when it comes to her own son, somehow she couldn't help but be prejudiced and it's not sitting well with her.

"When Keith told us about his male Omega wife, I couldn't read your reaction. You seemed to be in disbelief. Well I guess there was never an Omega born in both our family and there was no precedent of an Omega bride as well. So I somehow understood your reaction."

Kate sighed. "Honestly, I thought your son just said that he married an Omega just to spite me from my meddling."

"So you knew, you were meddling?" Lawrence teased.

"Shut up!" Kate said, pouting at her husband.

Lawrence laughed and Kate punched his side in retaliation.

"It never really occurred to me that he really married an Omega, I was caught off guard and I guess I just don't know how to react."

"So you're not against their marriage?"

"I don't know. I can't say that I am okay but I guess I am not totally against it. There's still this nagging feeling in my mind that couldn't come to terms with the thought of our son marrying an Omega and a male at that. Am I a bad person?"

"No sweetheart, you're just being honest and I love that about you."

"But I don't want Keith to hate me." Kate said her worst nightmare is that her sons would disown her. She can be pushy but she just wants what's best for the two of them.

"Take your time, let it sink in. I believe once you come to terms with things it will all be fine. We can't completely ignore our upbringing. We were raised to be superior and to think of Omegas not our equal. I totally understand your hesitations. If my father or my grandfather are still alive I don't think Keith will get away with what he did. Even Alex's family would suffer their wrath."

Kate nodded in understanding, knowing that would definitely happen. The old Andersen is probably wreaking havoc in his grave knowing his grandson he has high hopes ended up marrying an Omega.

"Though I must say, tonight you were quite the snob elite you truly hate, the full embodiment. Alfred agreed too."

Kate gritted her teeth and pinched Lawrence's side so hard. "Why can't you be serious huh? You were just perfect a while ago, stop ruining the moment you pig head!"

Lawrence laughed so hard which made Kate more mad and she kept hitting him. However, when Lawrence hugged her close, she gave in and buried her face in her husband's embrace.

"By the way, what are you gonna do about that?" He said, finally addressing the big elephant in the room. He knew, aside from their eldest son having an Omega wife, Kate's mood is greatly affected by what they learned tonight.

Kate angrily pushed her husband away from her. Heat is building up inside of her and she's extremely beyond furious.

"Do you need my help? I could ask someone to look into it."

"No! I will handle this myself. I was the gullible one." Kate angrily declined. Indeed she was the gullible one. She got blinded by the pretty face, the status and the fact that Jade is an Alpha. She was presented with the perfect bride she was looking for her son and she was oblivious about the other things. She was always cautious of people approaching her because of what she is but she fell right into that vicious woman's trap.

"So, you believe Alex's side of the story?"

"I'm not sure but there's no way for him to know about the bracelet if he wasn't there that day. Your son probably never bothered to listen to me that time Jade had dinner with us so it's not possible for him to tell his wife about it. Keith is not the type to take that route to gain my blessings. Besides, his recollection of the incident is something only the two of us are privy to. And… I don't think your son's wife is the kind of person to be deceitful."

Lawrence smiled at Kate's indirect compliments towards their son's wife. It's a good progress, though at the expense of Kate's feelings. Kate must be feeling furious right now, she got used and she almost handed over her son to an opportunist. Personally, he wanted to deal with it and make that opportunistic woman pay for what she did but it would not help alleviate Kate's anger. His wife is an Alpha too, she is strong and she can deal with it herself though he would still wait on the sideline ready to lend a helping hand if needed.

Kate sighed. She doesn't know what to think anymore. If what Keith's wife is saying that means Jade lied to her and she was an idiot for believing her. Once she get to the bottom of this, she swear all hell will break loose.

"Okay, that's too much frowning and sighing. You'll add more wrinkles to your face. Why don't you hop in the bath with me? What do you think?"

"I thought you said I have so many wrinkles and I am old and ugly. Why would you want to take a bath with me?"

"Who said that?? My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. What wrinkles? You have the most flawless skin."

Kate giggled and gestured for Lawrence to lean down. She wrapped her arms around his neck and allowed her husband to carry her to their bathroom. Thoughts of their son's Omega wife and how to deal with the opportunistic woman were temporarily removed from her mind. She let her husband wash away all the negativity for tonight.

"Gosh, she's so ugly, if not for the branded clothes and bag she's wearing I'm sure no one would even dare follow her. If I'm the one to don those clothes I bet I'll get twice as much as her followers in an instant." Jade exclaimed as she browsed through the instagram feed of a well known socialite.

Lately her mother prevented her from spending too much on clothes and bags though she doesn't see the point since her Dad never limits her on her spending. If not for that then she could have competed with that ugly socialite. Not that she's lacking in branded stuff but she hasn't gone shopping for a while. How can she compete if she wears something from last season's collection? If she wants to overthrow that socialite she needs the latest things.

Jade grinned to herself. That would change soon, once she becomes the wife of Keith Andersen she will have access to an endless amount of money that she can buy anything she wants. Heck, that instagram socialite can kiss her ass. Her clothes and bag would look like cheap trinkets.

The thought of her bright future made Jade squeal in excitement. She started browsing the high end bags she would buy as soon as she got hold of that spending money as a privilege of being a part of the Andersen family.

Jade's celebration of her being an Andersen was interrupted by her mom who suddenly barged in on her room.

"What the hell Jade? Why are you still not dressed? I told you we have to attend the book club today." Ruby yelled as soon as she opened the door and saw Jade lying on her bed in her pajamas.

"Geez mom. How many times do I have to tell you I won't go to those gatherings anymore? It's so pretentious and cheap." Jade replied, annoyed, not even looking at her mom.

Ruby gritted her teeth as she tried to keep her temper from flaring. She lost her patience when she saw the screen of Jade's ipad.

"I told you to stop shopping and spending too much!" Ruby bellowed.

Unbeknownst to Jade, Ruby found out that her husband doesn't have a will yet. Though he already adopted Jade as his own daughter, there is still the threat that the Omega son of his will come back and fight for his inheritance. If Bernard died without a last will and testament, legally that filthy Omega can still inherit half of her husband's money. She has to make sure Jade looks good in her husband's eyes at least until she convinces him to prepare his will.

"Common mom, that Omega will not come back. Dad will leave everything to us. Why are you so worried?"

"I'm worried because we don't know where he is. If your Uncle did his job at least we would know where he is and we can prevent him from coming back again."

Yes, if Clayton didn't fail, that Omega must be stuck in one of the clubs her brother's owned or if he's been sold as a plaything to some rich old man they still know where he is. She will not be worried like this.

"Anyway, just get dressed and we will leave in an hour."

"I told you mom, I'm not going."

"Yes you will. You should at least find someone while you're still young. I heard, some director's wife from a conglomerate is coming. So move your ass and come with me.

"Mother, why would I kiss ass with some director's wife when I can have someone more than that?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you know, like the Andersen's." Jade grinned at her mom.

Once again, Ruby asked her daughter what she meant by that.

Jade picked up her phone from the bedside table, she scrolled on her contact and flashed the screen to her mom.

"Why do you have Kate Andersen's contact number?" Ruby asked bewildered.

"Well you see mother, I bumped into her in the mall while I was trying to console myself from the effects of your so-called book club. She got smitten with me and she even invited me to her home to have dinner with her family. So you're looking at the woman Kate Andersen wants her son to marry." Jade proudly said with a bow.

Ruby's eyes widen and her mouth agape from what Jade just said. When the words sinked in, her eyes gleamed in happiness.

"You should have told me that from the start. I don't like going to those book club events too but I'm just worried that you won't find a decent man to marry. Oh well, I shouldn't have to worry, after all you are my daughter. I expect no less from you."

"So mom, ditch that book club. I caught a bigger fish. Oh by the way, Aunt Kate said she wanted to meet you soon."

Ruby smiled brightly at the thought of meeting Kate Andersen face to face. Now, even if that Omega comes back, their future is secured.
