Chapter 29

"Hey Alex, are you okay? Should we head to the hospital?" Dan asked worriedly while knocking at the toilet's door. Alex rushed to throw up while they were in the middle of having their breakfast. Dan is getting worried for his friend, his attack is getting too frequent, that call last night from Matt must have agitated Alex again.

"I'm fine." Alex said as he came out of the toilet while wiping his mouth with the back of his hands.

Dan sighed in response. Alex looks too pale and it's obvious that this is taking a toll on his body. He knew Alex can be pretty stubborn and he can't force the other Omega to do something if he doesn't want to. Dan decided to let it go for a while, since he cannot tell Matt, he would inform the president if Alex's condition becomes worse.

"I'm really fine. Don't worry too much. We should just get ready for work." Alex said, giving Dan a reassuring smile. He knows his friend is worried for him but he's really okay despite just throwing up his breakfast. If there's anything, he feels rather sleepy.

"Okay I give up. You go ahead and shower first. I will clean this up." Dan said as he gathered the dishes to the sink and started washing them. Since Alex's apartment only has one toilet and bath they have to take turns in showering.

After Dan finished the chores, he took out his phone from the charger and searched for a name on his contact list. Once he found it, he took a deep breath before finally pressing the call button. One, two, three rings and still no one's picking up. It's not that he expects the other person to pick up his calls but somehow he's hoping they would.

"Why are you calling me?"

"Hi, Erin." Dan replied trying his best not to tremble.

"Again, why are you calling me?" Erin replied. The annoyance in her voice is weakening Dan's resolve.

"Ahm.. it's about Eric. He... he needs help." Dan finally tells Erin the reason why he called. Erin is Eric's sister, they used to be good friends, that is until she discovered his relationship with her brother.

Erin used to be one of the few Alphas that are nice to him and Alex. She would always join the two of them for group study and she would sometimes ask him to teach her on subjects she's having trouble passing. She would ask him to go out for coffee and sometimes even ask him to accompany her on her shopping.

Alex used to tell him that he doesn't trust Erin and that she's only using him. He ignored Alex that time since Erin was the reason he met Eric. He was grateful to her and he believes that Erin is genuinely nice to him. She always says that one day he would meet an Alpha that would love him which made him giddy and hopeful. Apparently when she says an Alpha that would love him, it doesn't include his brother in the option.

Erin started tormenting him when she learned that her brother is in love with him. She would pretend to trip and would "accidentally" pour her drinks over Dan's head. She would hide his paper and the teachers would scold him for not submitting his assignments. She told her friends she was only nice with me because I helped her with her study. She told them she only asked me for coffee and shopping because she was too nice and she pity poor people like him.

He tried to tell Eric about his sister bullying him but the Alpha is oblivious and adores his sister to a fault that Dan has to put up with.

Alex was furious and wanted to confront Erin. Dan told him that he's okay and that he can manage his own affairs. Alex got mad at him and did not talk with him for two weeks.

Erin stopped with her dirty antics when Dan distanced himself from Eric. Until they enter college and Erin learned they are still together so she told their parents. They were furious and asked Eric to choose and then this happened.

"He's become addicted to drugs and he accumulated debts to some gangsters." Dan informed Erin about his brother's current situation. He told her he broke up with him already after he tried to use him to settle his debts.

"The hell bitch! It's your fault! If only you did not seduce my brother, he would not be disowned by our parents. He won't be like this, he won't do drugs. It's all your fault for infecting my brother with your filthiness. And now he's like this, you're dumping him? Finally showing your true colors eh?" Erin screamed angrily. "Can't defend yourself huh? Cat got your tongue?" Erin asked sarcastically when Dan did not respond. "Why don't you just go and settle my brother's debt with your filthy body. You're a whore anyway." Erin said mockingly.

Dan clenched his fists trying to keep himself from bursting into tears. He expected this response but it doesn't mean that it doesn't affect him. It pains him that Eric turned out this way, he really did love the Alpha but he cannot tolerate him. He's not the man he fell in love with anymore. His family needs to help him get treatment and settle things with the gangster. Informing his family is the least he could do for Eric.

Dan felt a hand unclenching his fists and found Alex in front of him, only then he realized that his hands were already bleeding. He was so caught up in the phone call with Erin that he did not notice Alex walking towards him. Alex held his hand as he continued the call.

"Eric needs help and I'm sorry but I cannot help him with this. It's over between us. Thank you for everything. I won't bother him or your family anymore. Please take care of him." Dan said with finality and as soon as he ended the call his tears fell down like a waterfall. Alex held him as he cried his eyes out, finally admitting to himself that they are really over.

"Are you sure you're okay to go to work?" Alex asked Dan whose eyes are still puffy and red from all the crying.

Dan laughed at Alex's question. "Look at the two of us. I wonder how many times we asked each other if we are okay." Dan replied. He may not be okay yet, but at least he took the step to tell Eric's family about the situation. What happens to Eric is now up to them. "Anyway let's go or we'll be really late. You may be spared from getting scolded since the president is your mate but I'm just an ordinary intern and my boss is an a-hole." Dan said and gave Alex a push to start going out of the apartment.

"Ouch!" Dan said they were already at the door when Alex suddenly halted. They were rushing to go out so when Alex stopped, they bumped into each other. "Why did you suddenly stop?" Dan massages his forehead as Alex stares intently at his phone. "Why what's wrong? Is it Matt? Is he coming back already?"

"It's Keith. He said he's downstairs at the visitor's parking lot." Alex replied wide eyed.
