29 F Rank Dungeon (3)

After the tussle at the town square, I waited a minute or two for more zombies to appear if they had been attracted by the noise. But none emerged. So I proceeded on my search for the boss. Thus far, it has been 3 hours.

I initially assumed I would find the boss at the centre of the Uchiha Clan compound, the mini 'town square. However, failing that, I theorized that it would also make sense for the boss to be located at the other end of where I started. If the Uchiha clan compound could be described as a square, and I started off in the top left corner, then following this theory the boss should be at the bottom right corner.

Thus I continued making my way through the Uchiha Clan compound towards my intended direction. Of course I emphasised caution by taking the high road through traversing across roof tops while occasionally picking off wandering zombies from above with the chain-sickle.

Soon, I reached my intended destination, and found out what the place I was moving towards to was all along. The location was surrounded by a wooden fence that didn't allow me to see into it, but there was no gate that prevented entry. The entrance was wide open with a wooden sign hanging above that stated, 'Uchiha Cemetery'.

Well, if my theory that the boss was here, it would make a whole lot of sense.

I approached the entrance to the cemetery and looked through the opening to find rows of headstones within, decorated with some flowers and other assorted ornaments, as well as some tress and vegetation that gave the place a more ominous vibe.

But at the far end of the cemetery, was a hulking, brutish figure standing stock still. Its size was not ridiculously large, but it stood taller than any individual I had seen before. If I had to compare, the creature's silhouette resembled a certain retired NBA player who was known for his towering physique except its body was lined with brawny muscles seen on professional body builders.

Although it was currently night, my Sharingan still allowed me to see with crystal clear clarity – not as though everything was bathed in light, but as if the darkness itself was not an impediment to my vision.

The creature had bluish skin that seemed more cartoonish than the natural hue of a corpse. It wore tattered clothes that appeared to have been ripped from its seams due to the unnaturally large musculature of the being. It stood slack jawed, waiting for some sort of stimuli to awaken it from its repose.

It had yet to notice me, so I hid behind the fence alongside the entrance to the cemetery and peeked through while casting [Observe] on the creature.

[Rank F Dungeon Boss: Kinniku Baka Lv 15]

HP: 10,000/10,000

CP: -

The reanimated corpse of a muscle-bound idiot who sought strength through building his muscles. It became his obsession to achieve the biggest and most perfect muscles.

He wants to show you the power of his muscles.

What a fitting name. Aside from that however, the monster has a mind-boggling 10,000 HP. Since I didn't know its stats, I also wouldn't be able to tell how strong the creature was. If its STR, DEX or INT were directly proportionate to its HP, it would be a fairly tough fight. But if its level was any indication, it should signify that the boss should be around the same level as me, since I too was level 15 now.

Either way, however, I had no intention to engage the zombie right this instant. It had only been about 4 hours since my entry into the dungeon, which meant I had another 19 hours to go around the Clan compound hunting down zombies to accumulate more experience. I made a mental note of the location and moved on. Using the same square analogy as before, there were still two other 'corners' for me to explore.

--------

I have been hunting for the past 10 hours in the rank F [Uchiha Natural Dungeon], and as far as I could tell, the zombies did not respawn after a certain amount of time. After I made my rounds throughout the Uchiha Clan compound which took a few hours, I made my way back to the entrance where I started.

When I arrived, there was no presence of any zombies. I followed the route I first took to the town square and then to the cemetery, but except for the occasional undead that I had missed the first time around, nothing else appeared.

With that realization in mind, I combed through the compound once more, making tons of noise to attract the attention of any stragglers, to make sure I was had with every single one before I faced the boss.

While I was hunting, I was also making a mental map of the clan compound. I encountered another large horde around the Military Police Force headquarters; this time I repeated my strategy of drawing them towards one spot by throwing breakable items to attract their attention and blasted them all with the Great Fireball technique.

I felt that the sound from the explosion which gathered them in large numbers was a more efficient way of farming – as after some time I realized the zombies were really weak and stupid, stymieing the advantages of their large numbers, so I had some confidence in facing them even if I was caught by surprise and surrounded.

After the 10 hours of hunting, I was able to collect a significant amount of loot. In terms of just money, I gathered a sum total nearly 120,000 ryo. I had been ecstatic about the amount of money I was just raking in but soured upon realizing that I had no legitimate way of spending them without looking suspicious – since an orphan that appeared to be reliant on the allowance from the village spending large amounts of money would obviously be regarded as strange.

I had to find some other channels to use the money on, otherwise it would just be collecting dust in my inventory.

Other than the money and the hundreds of miscellaneous loot I recovered from the glowing orbs, there were also more than a few Uncommon drops that I picked up.

My luck seemed to be pretty good as there was only one item that was arguably useless. A blindfold that can be seen through? What, how and most importantly why?

I was intrigued by the earring, but initially thought I wouldn't be able to wear it yet since my ears weren't pierced. But upon selecting the item from my inventory and seeing the option to equip it (which is also how I found out that I was able to equip items from the inventory rather than have to put them on), it automatically appeared on my left earlobe.

It wasn't really my style, but I wasn't going to pass on the stat effects, even if I still wasn't sure what CHA did. So now I was wearing a black ear stud, which I imagined made me look like a cringy, emo, pre-teen edgelord.

I was kinda miffed that I was missing just one of the Rogue's set items to activate its first set effects, but I still equipped them since I current clothes had no additional effects whatsoever. I wasn't sure what use I would have for them right now, since I wasn't planning on sneaking into anywhere, but as a shinobi I was sure I would find a use for them some day.

The elastic hair tie wasn't really useful for now though, since similar to my hairstyle I had in my previous life, I preferred the smart, side comb look. Although my current hairstyle didn't look as neat due to the distinctive lack of any hair wax, styling clay or pomade in the Naru-verse which I had used before to achieve the look. I would have to grow my hair out further in order to use the hair tie.

The elixir I drank immediately after acquiring it, because what was the point of saving it. Unlike the strength elixir I consumed before, this one had a similar consistency but tasted more like a minty lemonade.

At first I thought the self-retrieving shuriken was also relatively useless. Sure it had a weapon grade of C, but shurikens were designed to be disposable, consumable throwing weapons that was hardly expected to do any real damage. So even if it was sharper than the average, standard issue shuriken, how much of an impact would that really be?

But I considered that if I paired it with a jutsu like Shuriken Kage Bunshin – that one letter grade superiority would have an exponential increase in its lethality. Plus, since it was self-retrieving, I wouldn't have to be concerned about losing it.

Now, I was ready to face the final boss. Well, I was already ready before, just that I wanted to farm up all the walking bags of loot and EXP first.

As I neared the cemetery entrance once more, I entered the graveyard stealthily and crouched behind a tombstone. If possible, I wanted to land a critical sneak attack before the monster noticed me. To that end, I would have to approach as sneakily as I could to avoid its attention.

I inched forward slowly, moving from cover to cover using the tombstones to hide from the zombie. My plan was to use the kusari-gama's weighted end, reinforced with chakra, to crush its skull right at the start, hopefully dealing massive damage to the creature.

Once I was within range, I tightened my grip on the kusari-gama in my hands and channelled chakra into the metal, praying that the zombie lacked any sort of heightened senses that would allow it to feel the chakra flowing into my weapon.

Thankfully, it didn't. Once I was ready, I stood up and immediately begin spinning the heavy spiked weight with its chain. I was prepared for it to awaken from its stupor upon my standing up, but fortunately the creature's senses were as dulled as the other zombies since it had no reaction.

Once the chain had enough momentum, which took just a second, I threw my hand forward and swung the weighted end while imbuing its force with [Power Strike] towards the zombie. It came flying down and crashed down on the boss monster's cranium with a nasty crack.

While I wasn't really expecting for its head to immediately cave in, the result was not as significant as I once thought. Although, the creature howling in anguish was just as I expected.

As I retrieved the chain, I could now see that the place where the heavy iron had struck its skull now had a visible dent to it. I quickly used [Observe] to see the amount of damage it has suffered.

[HP: 9,138/10,000]

Holy shit. [Chakra Flow] and [Power Strike] combined did less than a thousand damage to the undead. Said zombie looked around, completely awoken now, looked around furiously before spotting my figure at a distance.

It roared and charged at me.
