1 When Everything Went Wrong

"A forbidden bite that changed everything" ~

Disappointed!

That was how Roselyn felt at the moment as she walked out of the Grand Library located in the City Centre.

She spared a last glance in the direction of the library as she let out a frustrated sigh. Once again she was unable to find the book that she had been searching for the past couple of months in the Mortal Realm.

At this point, she had been to more than fifty libraries located around several cities of the Mortal Realm but the result was still the same - no trace of the mysterious book that she had been searching for ever since her twentieth birthday which was four months ago by the way.

She took a glance at her watch and noticed that it was already half-past five in the evening and if she didn't move fast enough, she would end up missing the last bus to her home. The evening bus to the Light Realm was systemized to leave the Mortal Realm exactly at six in the evening. Missing it meant she would need to spend the night in the Mortal Realm.

She was in such a hurry that she completely missed the person walking toward her and the two of them ended up colliding in the middle of the bustling street.

"Aah! Sorry!" Roselyn muttered an apology as she rubbed her left arm which had taken the full impact of the collision.

She didn't notice where the person, whom she collided with, went or headed after the collision, and that's probably why she completely missed the sudden attack that followed her apology.

Someone grabbed her from behind and before she could have let her mind process what was happening, the world around her was already moving and fading away as the person teleported her away from the bustling street.

When the world finally stopped spinning again, she found her back pressed against a hard wall in some dark alley while a hard, tall, and muscular body was pressed against her.

"Are you alright?" a deep, masculine voice asked. The tone was so smooth that there was barely an accent in it.

"Yeah." Roselyn found herself responding in a whispery tone as she raised her head and found a pair of dark obsidian eyes staring back at her.

It felt like some sort of powerful sizzling energy passed between the two of them in that fleeting second which stunned her into complete silence.

He had short charcoal-colored hair which was a mass of soft curls that itched her fingers to trail through them. His sharp features suited his aura perfectly.

"Careful beautiful," he warned, his arms going around Roselyn's waist as he pulled her closer to his body. "You look pale."

"Do I?" Roselyn asked, her voice still coming out in a mere whisper as her throat felt dry.

Her nose picked on the intoxicating scent that was surrounding her - a dark spice tinted with the earthly aroma. She found herself leaning into the man, pressing her body against his.

His warmth surrounded her and pulled her like a magnet. Her senses were going completely out of her control and a part of her intoxicated brain was aware of the wrongness of the situation.

She should be running away from him. The man was dangerous... for her!

She tried to step away, to break free from his hold, but her legs refused to move at all. Her body was totally out of her control at this point.

"Are you sure you are okay?" The man pressed as he ran his fingers up her arm and caused hundreds of little sparks to erupt under her skin.

"I'm... okay," Roselyn responded as she tried to put her mushy thoughts together. But she was disturbed when she felt the soft feathery touch of his fingers under her right ear before he pushed them into her strawberry blonde curls.

"I was informed that you are beautiful, Roselyn," he whispered, his face far too close to her neck. "But I didn't realize just how true those words were."

He knew her!

The realization scared Roselyn and made her panic. But she didn't even get the chance to react at all this time as her breath escaped her lips when he kissed her throat.

Her first instinct was to push him away and get as far away from him as possible but unfortunately, her body was no longer listening to her mind.

He kissed her throat again and this time, a moan slipped out through her parted lips. His touch made her knees buckle and made the sensible part of her brain realize just how bad the situation was.

She could feel his darkness, one that was trying to seep inside her. Its vicious tendrils were trying to caze her and fight against her light powers.

"He shouldn't have sent me for this task." His voice was a whisper too and she noticed his sharp breathing against her neck as he placed a couple of more kisses there.

What he was talking about? And whom was he referring to? She had no idea but what she knew for sure was that she needed to get away from him and his darkness.

Roselyn prepared herself to call her powers even though it meant breaking the rule of not using their powers in the Mortal Realm. She was ready to push him away, to throw him against the opposite wall but... an ear-piercing scream left her mouth as he sank his fangs into her skin.

"N-no...!" She cried out in protest. Her entire body shook as it fought against his darkness. "Stop!" She demanded as she struggled against his hold.

The man tightened his hold around her, his strong arms crushing her small frame against his hard body as he sank his canines deeper into her flesh and fed on her blood.

Vampire! He was a bloody Vampire!

The realization dawned over Roselyn as she felt her body losing all its energy. Her powers succumbed to the harsh grip of the darkness that had cocooned her.

A tear escaped the boundaries of her eyes as the world around her got filled with darkness and she lost her consciousness.
