23 Buying from Magic Tower

Chris went to the magic tower for one purpose and one purpose only, to get his hands on the scroll.

This a powerful scroll that many would lose their minds if they ever saw it but the players don't as they have no use for it.

In Aredia, people have to cultivate their powers normally, through hard work and burning resources. There was no other way for them to improve themselves.

They hunt monsters to get resources and also increase their combat prowess. Unlike the locals, players have the skills and spells at the highest level possible, barring the levels that require one to understand the laws.

They won't improve their skills by hunting, no they get EXP which would automatically increase their levels. The locals don't have such an advantage. They had to use a different method to increase their power level.

This was useless to players at present but, when Earthlings start awakening their powers, they find that only by using the method of the people of Aredia could they increase their power. They don't have any power to increase levels solely by hunting as there would be no EXP.

There would be many changes that the people had to get used to. What Chris is for now is to gain an advantage by getting the method. It was a bit costly and so the reason for his continuous grinding of levels.

"Welcome to Magic Tower. How may I help you?" the receptionist asked Chris.

Chris took out his Magic Tower Identity Card and placed it before the receptionist. The girl took the card and swiped it on a tablet verifying the authenticity of the card.

"Welcome back, Mage Voyd. How may I help you, Sir?", she said with a smile.

Chris knew about this. Every professional thinks that their profession is the best and the core profession around which the world revolves. It was especially so for the spellcrafters, not just mages but all spellcrafters.

Mages look down on other professions as they see they are beneath them. The only professions they regard as worthy professions are Alchemy and Runecrafting, as they are very helpful for magical research.

So having the organisation identity card is a must, which everyone thinks is common knowledge and so no player knew about that fact. It wasn't until a year later that players found out about it or should say publicly knew about it.

There are many professional gamers who entered the game. Some of them live to find out the secrets of a game and should have easily unearthed such a secret but kept to themselves, until a full year. This too wasn't intentional, but a leak. Who could blame them? Everyone wants to have an unfair advantage.

As a magic tower card holder, though of the lowest rank, he can get discounts on resources.

"Hi, I would like to buy a few spell books and also a Magic Meditation Technique Scroll", Chris said.

"Okay sir, what spells are you looking for and the grade of the meditation technique?"

"Give me the highest grade possible for the meditation technique. As for the spells, I need Ice spells except for Ice Arrow and Ice Armor. Show me what you have, and I'll select from the list".

The girl disappeared, but returned a moment later, holding a tablet, "Sir, this the list of Ice Spells we have at the moment".

Chris checked the list. As the Magic Tower of Winter Kingdom, they have a lot of Ice based spells. They appeared cheaper than what he remembered from his past life.

Back then, he wasn't a resident of Winter Kingdom, rather he went to Storm Empire, the most powerful human nation. In fact, most chose it after reaching level 10.

When you get a token that transfers one to a main city, there will be information available pertaining to every main city and their respective nation. From what he remembered the Ice spells are a bit costlier than what he is seeing now.

He was sure that certain items that are cheaper there would be costlier here.

Economics plays a major role even though it appeared as a medieval world. The Winter Kingdom is the major producer of resources of Frost origin, so they would cost less here than in other nations.

He quickly selected a few spells from the list. There are many more but the gold he earned emptied out after buying the meditation technique and the spell books.

--

[Magic Meditation Technique (S): A technique useful for mages and other spellcasters to form their Mana Core and Mana veins, which are required to cast spells. Once formed, this gives you a way to increase the core's rank and also to refill your empty core faster.]

[Ice Field: Turn the ground around you into a field of ice.]

[Ice Rain: The caster can cause ice rain at a designated location. The location has to be in the visual range. The max range possible depends on the mana exhausted.]

[Ice Lance: Cast a huge lance made of ice to pierce your enemies.]

--

The efficiency of the meditation depends on the technique you use. The highest ever recorded was SSS-Grade, but one of those standard can't be brought by others easily. It circulates only in the top echelons.

The SS-Grade is available for sale but it was too costly for Chris. Moreover, his rank with the tower isn't sufficient enough to buy the technique. He had to settle for S-Grade which was more than enough, as even it would cost a lot for people.

Even simply acquiring a technique is not sufficient. One has to have to mediate in a mana-rich environment to get better results. The environment can be substituted by resources, which would cause families to go bankrupt within days.

He brought the meditation because someone showed the world about the powers at the year's end. It was then everything started to change and the game became more popular than anything in the world.

Even though the powers were shown, they appeared much weaker than when compared to the game appearance. This was because they still depended on the game. When that thread was broken after the Abyssal Invasion, Earth appeared weaker and caused a lot of casualties.

There stood a few against the invasion but Chris was sure that was the case because they learned the Meditation Technique, rather than depending on the game connection.

He has a lot of time and nowhere to hurry about increasing his power on Earth. He could cultivate leisurely and become strong to survive the coming disaster.

"Hmm, Now that I have got what I wanted, I should return home. Abby would soon return from school. Moreover, I believe today is the day. I should be at home", Chris muttered to himself.

After he returned to his room at the Inn, he logged out.
