Chapter 2 Isekai

It was incredibly dark I couldn't see, hear, or feel anything. 'Ah, I guess I died... And here I thought I would be able to see the end of one piece... I guess it's worth it though if my siblings survived. I'm a little worried for them but I'm sure they'll be fine without me, after all they're both cuter and smarter than I ever was. I wasn't exactly a good big brother either. I always thought we either go to heaven or hell and finally find out if God exists or we simply stop all consciousness like when we're asleep, but I never expected this.'

'Now that I think about it I suppose being stuck in this dark void unable to move would make one eventually have mental problems to the point of losing your memories and identity. Add that with our hyperactive brains as infants it's no wonder no one or at least very few remember their past lifes memories.'

'Seeing as I have nothing else to do I might as well think upon my life thusfar. Maybe that'll keep me from losing my memories assuming that I'll be reincarnated.'

After saying this I laughed to myself for a bit thinking about my life as a child from my earliest memory in a stroller watching the fireworks with my father upon a hill. I don't remember what my father looked like as it was nighttime. I just remember him being a tall, strong, gentle, man. Now that I think about he may have just looked tall because of how small I was back then.

I continued to think about my life recalling the moments I regretted and wished I could redo such as when I broke my mother's vase playing with a ball as a kindergartener or when I dated my first girlfriend Calliegh and ended up making her break up with me in 8th grade.

Suddenly I heard a mysterious deep voice echoe throughout the dark void

"Given the life you have lived thusfar I shall grant you 3 wishes. Now state your first wish!"

I rested my hand upon my chin realizing I can move again I decided it must be due to the mysterious voice. 'These wishes must be some parting gift they give to people before reincarnating and considering he said "given the life you've lived thusfar" I assume there's some requirement to earn these wishes. I should think hard on this, I don't know if I'll even be reborn in the same world but at the same time I don't want things to be too easy and end up like Saitama or even worse I could be kidnapped and raised in a facility similarly to homelander. After thinking for 10 minutes I finally decided what I would need for my next life.

"I wish to have unlimited potential. As long as I put in the work I will improve in anything and will not be shackled by human limits."

"It shall be done. Now state your second wish!"

"I wish to have a self wish granting system that can grant wishes in proportion to my strength."

"That wish cannot be granted as it would disrupt the balance of reality."

"Now state your 2nd wish!"

Realizing that I can't get everything I want I decided on a replacement. "I wish to have a status window only I can see that will display my skills and stats in numerical order. I want it to be exactly the way I'm thinking."

"Although there are better wishes you could have made it is not a bad choice. Your wish shall be granted! Now state your 3rd and final wish."

"This is tough. I don't know what my last wish should be. Oh! how could I forget something so important!!"

"I wish to always retain my memories no matter what and be immune to mind based techniques unless I want them to affect me."

After stating my final wish I couldn't hear anything for what I assume was 5 minutes. Perhaps the owner of the voice was thinking. Was my wish perhaps too big?

"I shall grant your wish, however you'll not be reborn as a powerful species you'll be human."

'Well I don't have much of an issue with that. Given my unlimited potential I should be able to learn or do anything given I work for it.'

"Now that I have granted your wishes it is time for you to take the next step in your spiritual maturity."

After the deep voice said those words I saw a blinding light pass over me and I passed out.
