1 Prologue

6 June 2009

"The world is shocked over Rosalie Jordan, the 16-year-old student, who was found dead on Tuesday 2nd June in the basement of her house. Police have reported that there were no signs of a possible crime. Until the autopsy results will be released, the police close the case with the result of a suicide attempt, that sadly succeeds. Here's what Rosalie's mother, Georgia Jordan has stated about her daughter's tragic death." The news reporter said and the video of the girl's mom came up on the TV screen.

"She was a really sweet, smart, and nice girl." The mother started as she wiped her tears. "I still can't believe she's gone...After her dad's passing, I promised myself to take the role of a mother and a father. I tried my best to keep her safe from any danger and..I tried to keep the bullies away from her." She completed, taking a deep breath.

"You believe the cause of her death was coming from bullying?" The journalist asked her. The mother nodded with her eyes closed.

"I'm 100% sure that it was because of that. She had multiple bruises on different parts of her body every time and when I was asking her, she was just saying she hit herself 'accidentally' at P.E class."

"She had bruises on parts of the body?"

"Yes...and the past two weeks...before her death. I didn't notice a thing. So I thought they stopped, or that she actually...hurt herself at P.E. I didn't know what case I should believe. She was also way more talkative and happy. If I only knew.." The mother completed, as the tears started to roll down to her pale face.

"You were the one that found her in the basement that night?" The journalist asked, quite ignoring the psychological situation the 45-year-old mother was in. The mother nodded as she slightly sobbed.

"Yes." She started and took a deep breath. "She told me she wanted to go and grab some stuff she wanted from there and I simply said okay. I think about two hours later? Yes, I think it was that much...I called her name but there was no reply at all. So I went downstairs to check on her and I just saw her-" She paused and burst into crying.

"It must have been very difficult for you and terrifying at the same time to face your child in such a horrifying scene." The journalist comforted with no emotion the single mother.

"It was indeed. And till this day, I only blame myself. No one else. Because If I pushed her enough to talk to me about her problems, what was worrying her...maybe none of this would have happened. We would fight together the reason that led her to take her own life...I'm sorry but I can't talk anymore." The mother ended her speech while she faced away from the camera. The TV screen went black and then went back to the reporter.

"It must have been a traumatic experience for the single mother to face her daughter in a scene, that would be a nightmare for every single parent out there. The world sends their prayers and hopes that the Jordan family will finally get the justice they deserve. This was your news reporter, Stephanie Johnson from 'News at 7', wishing you a great evening."
