18 Young Justice Interlude

Cynthia looked at Match as he struggled to get hold of one of her clone that had a bandana on her neck. She was moving agilely, perfecting every move Match made so that she could dodge him and Match was starting to get frustrated.

"Stand still!" Match roared, firing laser beams at her only for her to suddenly appear in front of him and sending him skidding across the subterranean training room. He was out cold.

"His anger is like an active volcano," the clone told Cynthia, who nodded in agreement. Till Match could control his emotions, he was bound to be defeated by someone like Batman, Black Canary or even Deathstroke who could use it to control the battle.

"We have Absolute Combat so these things comes easy to us like a newborn baby finding its mother's teat as source of food. But, Match's intelligence is growing and it might take some time for him to be at a competent level," another clone joined in. Cynthia said as she squatted beside the Kryptonian clone.

"Good thing we have the patience of Buddha," she sighed before turning to the bandana clone. "When he wakes up, teach him a little bit of mixed martial arts we came up for him. Should he come close to understanding it, then we can start with meditation to improve his emotions."

"Sure thing, boss," the clone said and Cynthia got out of there using flying thunder god jutsu, appearing in her lair.

"Alright, with Superboy's training sorted, let's head out for a patrol," she said, going for her Helmet Killer suit. She was not sure how to feel about been given that name by the public. It was a name given to a serial killer by an attention seeking editor of a newspaper company. But, the name was intimidating enough that everyone could not help but pause to gulp when they said the name. Her ruthless campaign against crime in the city had brought the crime rate to an astounding 12% and those were just because the big gangs refused to be intimidated by her!

As she jumped from rooftop to rooftop, Cynthia thought of who to target at the moment. Since her involvement in the black market auction massacre and defeating Black Canary and Captain Atom, the Los Angeles underground network had become very much restrained. Moving drugs was in low quantity, human trafficking was almost non existent, assassinations were becoming very much dreaded and other crimes becoming taboo! All in all, Los Angeles became a city any hero would dream of achieving but would be difficult without using her kind of methods!

"I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss a car chase," she said, perching herself in a buildings' gargoyle. She looked down at the city and sighed. "When will something interesting going to happen?"

"Ooh! Is this Murphy's law?" she wondered as she sensed an invisible large organism flying over to her direction. She sat up, wondering what it was till it stopped above her and became visible once again. It was a red flying spaceship which she remembered belonged to Miss Martian. A hatch opened on its underside, making her take a look inside.

'It looks like technology instead of a living organism wired to be a means of transportation,' she observed. Then, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Artemis and Mis Martian jumped out through the hatch, landing in the roof while glaring at her. 'Are they here to show Batman they can do the League's job by defeating me?"

"Are you the Helmet Killer?" Superboy crassly asked.

"Hmm, good to see that personality is hereditary," Cynthia laughed, thinking of Match's crass questions. He found her watching some adult clips and the questions he asked her made her wish she was an adult. That way, they would come off more convincing than when they came out of a twelve year old's mouth

"What do you mean?" Superboy asked.

"What are you doing in my city?" Cynthia asked instead. Superboy was going to ask his question more agitatedly but Mis Martian got hold of his shoulder, calming him down.

"Five days ago, a friend of ours came to this city. He is known as Speedy and the League thinks he came to find you," Miss Martian said. "Please, we need to know if you have him."

"Speedy? Is he a speedster?" Cynthia asked.

"No, he is...was Green Arrow's sidekick," Aqualad said. Robin was observing her and wondered why Batman put her threat level so high. She looked so full of openings it was insulting to a martial arts practitioner like himself.

"Never seen or heard of him. If you are just looking for him, I will allow you to stay. But, you should leave immediately if you are here for something else," she warned them. Superboy gritted his teeth, looking ready to pounce at her but Miss Martian got hold of his arm, psychologically restraining him.

"We are here for something else, actually. There is an outstanding arrest warrant on you. If you come quietly, we will not hurt you," Aqualad said.

"Outstanding arrest warrant on me? What name does it give?" she asked.

"Helmet Killer," Aqualad answered while Robin frowned.

"Well, that is not my name. This is a case of mistaken identity so you must find someone whose ID says he or she is called Helmet Killer," she antagonized them.

"All those people you killed, do you have no remorse?" Superboy asked.

"Why? Because they're human? Because they are weaker than me? Why should I feel remorse to a criminal?" he asked him.

"Because you're human," Superboy said, leaving Cynthia stunned.

"Because I'm human. Because I'm human," she repeated as her mind went back to everything she had done ever since she had awaken her metagene.

"Am I human?" this was a question to herself than it was for others.

'Everything I have done so far has been a direct contradiction to what I was. I would never have thought I would be capable of this kind of violence and killings in my previous life and for the twelve years I have been living here. Ever since I have got these powers, my brain has been wired to combat. I even left a clone to live my ordinary life just so that it would not distract me. But, what is the end game? What would become of me when I achieve what my power is taking me to, omnipresence. How will I think back to my life then when all I have done is let my power get hold of my thinking?' Cynthia thought before she smiled confidently.

"I am human!" Her voice now carried finality. The Young Justice members were confused by her words. "Well done, your talk-no-jutsu almost rivalled Naruto Uzumaki. But, I won't let you arrest me, there are a few mistakes I would like to rectify."

Taking this as affirmation to attack, Superboy pounced towards her only for Cynthia to use his own momentum to his throw him off the building.

"Superboy!" Miss Martian shouted in concern. Robin threw three birdarangs at her as he ran for cover but Cynthia blocked them with her own shurikens before throwing a kunai at Artemis, cutting her bowstring just as she was about to o fire an arrow at her.

"I need to restring, cover me!" Artemis shouted, going behind everyone. Kid Flash nodded and he ran towards her. To him, everything moved in slow motion and he smiled as he reached her, thinking of how to restrain her. He did not even think Cynthia would be watching his every action, a smile sprouting on her face.

'Time to give them a scare,' she thought. Her body started producing electricity that shocked Kid Flash, sending him flying away with a groan of pain. The others were shocked to see Cynthia's body emitting lightning arcs.

"This is a martial arts technique I derived from watching a storm and gaining clarity from Thor mythology. It's called Lightning Release Chi Armor. Basically, my strength, speed and durability are increased to a whole new level," she told them in a true xinxia vilian action. Superboy took this moment to jump onto the roof. When he saw her covered in lightning, her frowned in surprise.

"I thought she was human!" he shouted at Robin.

"That is a martial arts. Be careful!" Robin shouted but Cynthia took this chance to attack Superboy. Appearing as just a streak of lightning, she rushed to Superboy and punched him on his jaw so hard a thunderclap was heard. The half Kryptonian was flung back off the building. Everyone heard the crash he made when he hit the road below them.

"Be careful!" Aqualad shouted, shaping his mystic water into two swords.

He jumped at her, swinging his left sword at her shoulder for an incapacitating blow. But, Cynthia jumped out of his reach and threw two more shurikens, hitting two birdarangs out of the air. Miss Martian took this chance to telekinetically try and lift her but she felt like she was lifting a mountain.

"How are you so heavy?" she asked, letting her go and Cynthia landed on her feet before blitzing and clothlined her to the floor.

"My mind is just too great to let anyone influence my psychically," she answered. An arrow whizzed in the air, heading to the back of her helmet only for her to deflect it with a kunai. One thing she knew about archers like Green Arrow or Hawk Eye, never catch their arrows. Loki was unfortunately the base of her lesson.

"Got her!" Kid Flash said as she held her into an arm lock from behind.

"Do you?" Cynthia chuckled before Kid Flash screamt in pain as he was shocked numb by the lightning.

"KF!" Robin shouted in concern, swing his friend fall to the ground unconscious. "Aqualad, we can't win if she has that Lightning Cloak of hers!"

"Taking your eyes off an opponent! Batman taught you better!" Cynthia said as she appeared behind Robin and got hold of his neck from behind and then shocked him unconscious. She threw him towards Artemis who had just fired an arrow at her. The arrow stabbed Robin in his left arm, making her eyes grow wide in fear just before his body hit her so hard she was sent flying backwards and was knocked out cold when she landed on the ground.

"Only two more. Frankly, I would have ended this before you all could blink but I wanted to show you the folly of your actions by holding back considerably," Cynthia floated as she turned to Aqualad ant Miss Martian who was just getting up.

"Earth style: Earth shaping justsu!" Cynthia said then clapped. The cement below them suddenly cracked before a chunk of it broke off, flew to Cynthia's hand then it transformed to two swords which she got hold of.

Cynthia jumped at Aqualad, swinging with an overhead strike. He shaped his left hand sword to a shield and blacked the incoming sword but he was brought down to his left knee by the momentum, making his groan. He tried to stab her with his right sword only for her to spin like a ballerina, coming behind him and kicking him. Aqualad was sent sliding face first on the cement ground, not even been able to let out a sound.Miss Martian had turned herself intangible and used this moment to telekinetically lift Cynthia's helmet.

'Shit!' Cynthia cursed once she felt the helmet fly off. 'Fuck! Creation Of All Things Technique: Eternal Mangekyou Sharangin!'

Miss Martian looked at the young face looking at her in anger and felt stunned. She was like forty in Earth years so she had always felt like the eldest in the team. She always tried to portray herself like that, calm, collected and the mediator of the team. So she was taken aback seeing such a young girl was the cause of so much death in a couple of weeks! Then, she saw something that brought fear to her face. She saw her brown eyes suddenly turn red. A red pin wheel replaced her pupils and her entire psychic aura changed.

"Tsukuyomi!" Cynthia growled, looking straight at Miss Martian's eyes. The Martian found herself nailed to a cross as Cynthia appeared in front of her, floating on air.

"Where are we?" Miss Martian questioned, frightened.

"My mental scape where here, I am God!" Cynthia said. "You took off my helmet and that has earned you a few millenniums of torture from me, that would be the case. But, I don't think it would take that long to break you and I don't want your uncle coming after me for revenge. So, I'll go with the best next thing. Kotoamatsukami!"

Miss Martian fell to the ground a second after Cynthia showed her his Eternal Mangekyou Sharangin, unconscious. Aqualad got up, spitting out concrete and turned just in time to see a helmet appear on Cynthia's head.

'Miss Martian must have taken out her helmet! We have finally got a look at her face!' he thought. 'Now, we need to retreat before she decided to kill us all for that.'

"Listen, we have already notified our mentors of our location. If you kill us they are going to go after you with vengeance. When you fought Captain Atom and Black Canary you got lucky for they were going easy on you. But, this time the full might of the Justice League will befall on you," he warned her.

"You are not a very good liar. But, I do not want Batman sniffing around. Besides, I already took care of her. You can leave," she said. Aqualad was alarmed by her words.

"What did you do?" he asked.

"That's for me to know and you to fuck off!" she answered before disappearing in a streak of lightning.

'Appear to be apprehensive of the power of the Justice League but at the same time showing powers that will make them hesitate to act on me. They will speculate of just how powerful the Lightning Release Chi Armor. What they don't know is I barely used even 1% to fight these scrubs so their speculation might be off. But, their apprehension will even arise when they realize what I did to Miss Martian using Kotoamatsukami!' she giggled thinking of their reactions.

'But, I need to get home first,' she said and increased her speed. She appeared on the porch of her house. Her clothes transformed to regular home clothes as she dispelled her clone. She also remembered to transform into her shorter self.

"I'm home!" she announced, getting in. Her mother was preparing her dinner for work turned to look at her.

"You never announced when coming back, what's wrong?" she asked.

"I'm just happy been here," Cynthia said and hugged her mother tightly. Her mother reciprocated the hug, feeling amused and happy of her antics.

"Miss Martian is still unconscious! What did she do to her?" Superboy asked Martian Manhunter in concern for his niece and anger towards Helmet Killer.

"Her mind is showing she is in a coma. But, when I tried to see what she saw when she took off Helmet Killer's helmet, I was overwhelmed by her psychic urge to kill herself! It was so overwhelming I almost killed myself before I jumped out," Martian Manhunter answered. Batman was alarmed by this.

"Are you saying Helmet Killer might have psychic powers?" he asked the Martian.

"My niece has the most potent psychic abilities I have ever encountered. To be caught in a psychic illusion that would want to make her kill herself if she tried to remember what her face looks like, it appears Helmet Killer might be a master psychic," he answered.

"She wanted to warn us!" Batman concluded.
