Chapter 16

You know, a few weeks ago, if you asked if I wanted to sneak into a town with four other people. I would have probably said yes.

Now if you told me that they would have given me a major headache and the desire to throw them down a river, I would have a different answer.

"It's left!"

"It's right!"

"Purple!"

"What are you talking about?!"

"The color of the building we just passed. We've passed by it four times already!"

"Ugh!"

Ezra was in charge of leading us to the edge of town where we would stake out the guards of Razael. Unfortunately, he never told us that he was bad with directions. A few turns ago, he finally admitted that he had no idea where we were and now we're trying to get back on the right path before sundown. As I said before, a headache.

I grabbed the map from Xavier who had taken it upon himself to lead the way. I scanned the entire map and searched through my memories of where we had been so far. Retracing our steps, I figured out where we were. We were actually not that far off from the path.

I handed the map to Leo and led the way back to the path.

"Thank you, Niko" They all said

I simply nodded and kept walking. I'll take my dark thoughts of them to the grave. No need for them to know.

After a few hours, we made it to a huge hotel.

This hotel was made for Sekaelians who wanted to get into Razael who would originally camp outside the gates and wait for them to invite them in. The owner saw an opportunity to make money and made a hotel.

Now it's a safe house for Sekaelians and Razaelians.

We walk in and got our own rooms.

Sundown is soon to come and we go out to search for a way into Razael.

"What if we use a spell to make the guards fall asleep?" Xavier asked

Leah had brought a bag full of spells she made that we could use. Her family has a business in making potions and specializes in herbs.

"No. When they wake up, they'll know something is wrong." Ezra said

"What if we jump high enough to get over the wall without them seeing us?"

"When we fall, we'll die"

"What if-"

"Why don't we have Niko make us small?" Leah asked

"Brilliant!" Xavier exclaimed

Ezra thought about it. "I guess that could work. If we're small enough to go through the wall, we can use an invisibility potion to find somewhere to hide beyond the wall."

And with that, we got a plan! All we need to do is wait for nighttime. In the meantime...food! And sleep!

We had been on the road doing nothing but walking since this morning! A girl needs a break.

I go looking for the kitchen and see a man with the most cliche getup of a chef's outfit. Behind him was a basket filled with freshly made bread.

I want it. Gimme bread!

I sneaked behind the counter as the chef focused on the soup he was making. I reached out for the beltway when he suddenly turned back around. I ducked.

This would be a great time to turn invisible.

Nothing

Ahem! Invisible!

Still nothing

I want to be invisible!

Ah! My arm was fading. Whew! I thought that it wouldn't work for a second there!

I stood up and saw the chef sprinkling some seasoning on the bread. Yes...make my bread yummy!

When he turns back to the soup, I grab a few pieces and run out the door.

As I ran for my delicious bread, I ran into Leah who was walking out of her room.

"Oh! Hi, Niko" she smiled

I waved a hand with bread in it. I looked at the piece of bread and back at Leah. She probably wants some. I handed it to her.

"For me?" She asked surprised

I nodded

She gently takes it and I run back to my room.

Down the hatch, little bread!

LEAH POV

I stared at Niko as she slipped into her room next to mine.

Did she really give me some of her bread?! She must be the most beautiful-

"Hey! You there!" A man yelled

I turned back to see a man dressed in a chef's outfit. He was running towards me with an angry look. When he saw the bread in my arms, his face got red.

"You took my bread?!" He yelled

"What? No I-" I looked at Niko's room "umm...I'm sorry"

After he gives me a stern talking to, which always just him yelling at me, I go back into my room and I eat the bread that Niko gave me in peace. A beautiful devil is what she is.
