Greedy

The night sky bathed the city in darkness odin walked back to his apartment. Talking out his key he opened the door and placed the food he had gotten in the fridge. It had been five days since he entered the city during that time he had gathered more information on the world and had improved his cultivation.

He was now at the 6th stage of the foundation realm and since he broke through he was now 2.3 times stronger than before. Odin walked toward his room and laid on his bed staring at the ceiling in thought.

During this time he had tried finding other methods of gaining special points but he had found no solution. It seemed he could either get the points from killing or completing missions which wasn't bad but he also wanted a more passive way to gain them.

As he fell deeper and deeper into thought a loud alarm awoke him. The blaring sound was accompanied with a female voice.

"Attention all men between 18 and 36 please report to the south gate the demon onslaught will arrive in an hour!" the voice said it was soon repeated as the alarm rung.

"Guess this is my daughter helping me heh." Odin said as he got the falcata and left the apartment.

After a few minutes, he arrived at the gate and saw hundreds of people gathered around. From young men with nervous looks to old men who calmly stare at the horizon and buff men drinking as they joked around.

Odin walked to a soldier who was processing the people around and waited for his turn to register. After finishing he was given a green token that would count his contribution so he could later get his rewards.

Odin walked out of the city gate and saw the soldiers preparing for the arrival of the horde. Odin walked past the working men and women and looked at the forest from afar a moving blurry figure was approaching or more to say a few were approaching.

The demons soon revealed themselves startling the people that were making traps. The demon's arrival was way ahead of schedule but it seemed that this group was here to slow their progress.

The group was made of five women and ten men they looked like normal humans except for the long black claws that replaced their hands and feet. They had green eyes that would hypnotize whoever stared at them the releases an alluring fragrance that made one lower their guard.

The soldiers on the wall reacted quickly and fired the mounted guns but the demons easily dodged the bullets. The demons split into five groups and started to rush at the soldiers outside the gate.

Odin quickly used his falcata's skill and two black lights attacked one of the demon groups. Odin quickly rushed the duo and slashed the man's head in two before slicing the woman's head off. Odin quickly and mercilessly killed the group in a few minutes before the demons could cause any problems.

"Thank you young man your sword skills are incredible." an old man said as he walked up to Odin the man emitted the air of a scholarly sage behind him a few young men and women followed him.

Odin just nodded and turned to look at the forest waiting for the demons.

"Hey master Ikke is speaking to you!" a woman yelled at Odin master ikke hit her on the head and scolded her.

"I'm sorry about her please forgive her may I ask if you belong to any Academy or are under any teacher?"

"I follow the path of chaos." Odin said as he kept looking at the forest.

The man's eyes widen before he returned to normal.

"I see forgive me for bothering you I hope you'll help us with the fight." the man said as he bowed and quickly left taking the kids with him.

"It seems at least a few remember the ancient ones." Odin muttered as he sat down and took the time to cultivate.

"Master Ikke why did you bow to that man?" a boy asked the old man.

"I can't say much but ill tell you those that follow him are monsters beyond comprehension and even then they aren't even recognized by him as a follower of his path." the man said as he took peeks at Odin who was cultivating.

"Do you mean that he is one of them?" the girl that yelled at Odin asked.

"Yes you should be very careful all of them took the lightest offense very seriously you should already know about what happened to the slumbering sea continent a few thousand years ago." the old man said as he looked at the girl with a pale face.

"You mean that the child who sunk the continent was one of them?" the girl said as she looked at Odin with a look filled with dread.

Time passed and the sound of falling trees and shouting was heard alerting the soldiers of the demon's arrival. A blue half-sphere covered the city and many turrets and other heavy weaponry lined the walls.

Odin exhaled and got up he quickly rushed the approaching army of demons. He was greedy for the special points and he would make sure he got as much as he could. After all wasn't greed the root of all sin and he sure was a greedy fucker.
