The Fridge Incident

Waking up, Mitsuna sat up.

{Looking around while on her bed, she really needed to get it through her head.

This place is Real. And she can't escape.}

Sighing, she climbed down from her bed and walked to her door.

Opening it, she saw no one outside.

'Aren't royalty supposed to be watched 24/7?'

Running down the hall, Mitsuna had yet to see anyone.

Turning the corner, she saw... nothing.

'Where are the maids?'

With her stomach grumbling, Mitsuna kept walking around, looking for a kitchen.

Passing the large window she saw while going to her brother's room, she took her time to enjoy the view.

'Weird birds. Tiny people. Monsters? No, just Big birds.'

Enjoying the view for a while longer, she felt her stomach grumble once again as she kept walking.

Seeing her brother's room up ahead, she completely ignored it and kept searching for the kitchen.

Ending up in a tall and long corridor with a silver door at the end, Mitsuna went to try to open it.

Surprisingly enough, it did.

With a large table at the centre of the room, there was a rectangular hole in the wall that had a giant kitchen behind it.

Running to the kitchen, Mitsuna climbed up and through the hole and started looking around.

Finding a box made of steel and ice, she opened it.

Finding a banana on the bottom shelf just slightly away from her reach, Mitsuna jumped with all her might by using a nearby drawer handle as a small platform.

Jumping into the 'fridge', Mitsuna took her prize and turned to find her way out.

The door closed and her last source of natural light disappeared. Soon after, so did the light in the fridge.

'Don't tell me I die like this...'

Surprisingly calm on the inside, Mitsuna looked down to find her hands shaking. From both cold and nervousness.

A second later she remembered she could cast magic with an 'Oh. Right.' and opened her system.

Seeing an affinity for Fire, Mitsuna imagined a small flame in her palm.

It appeared, but soon after also went out.

The fridge was getting colder and colder, which only left Mitsuna to use more and more mana and anything else she could.

...

Meanwhile, her family.

"Does she normally sleep this long?"

"No. She might just be playing around in her room."

"But shouldn't she have realized that everyone is gone?"

"And haven't you taken her to your room before Jameson?"

"I have, father."

"So by logical reasoning, she should be smart enough to know that she would find someone in this room."

"I agree father."

"Oh shut kt you two. She is just taking her time."

...

One hour later.

"I think she's lost and crying in some corner."

"As do I."

"You boys are such party poopers. Fine. Let's go find her, I need to give her a spanking for taking this long."

Aryamis walked out of her son's room with a huff and started heading for her daughter's room.

Seconds later,

"Honey! She isn't in here!"

"Huh? Jameson, get the maids to help look for your sister."

"Yes."

Jameson rolled towards the servants' residence, passing an open silver door and through the kitchen.

Opening the small door made of copper, he ordered the maids to go out and help.

Some were in the middle of changing clothes when he entered.

A few screams and thrown underwear later, Jameson and the maids took off in search of Mitsuna.

...

Another hour later.

'Thank goodness that it doesn't go below a certain point in this frozen hellhole.'

Mitsuna thought as she was surrounded by multiple wisps of fire.

'I'm still not able to properly move them but at least I can conjure them whenever. On the other hand... where the hell is my family? Did they... die? No. That's impossible. A family of dragons and phoenixes won't be taken out in a single night...'

Opening her eyes, she saw a banana peel and half a pickled cucumber.

'I won't starve...'

She tried to convince herself.

'I can't even joke in this situation. This sucks.'

...

10 more minutes later.

"Where the Hell is my Daughter?!" Aryamis could be heard yelling frantically.

"Keep looking! Turn the country upside down! I'll burn to cinders anyone who disobeys!"

'They won't start a war... Right?' Jameson thought as he looked at his parents.

Hearing a knock on the nearby door, Jameson went and opened it.

"Oh hello. You can come on in. My little sister is currently missing so you can take your time in preparing everything."

"Well, of course, I hope you manage to find your sister soon. Don't mind me."

Seeing the man walk off, Jameson turned back to his parents and heard the distinct words 'War', 'Burn', 'Hell' and 'Destroy' in the continuous chatter.

Now, along with being stressed because of his sister's disappearance, he is also stressed about a possible war sometime soon.

...

I walked into my usual workstation and started preparing everything I needed.

Taking out a sword and a book from my bag, I started to write down my next experiment.

Heading over to my fridge to get the things I needed to make the daily meal for the royal family, I opened it to see a banana peel, a half-eaten pickled cucumber, multiple wisps of fire and a little girl.

Swatting the fire away, I picked the girl up. She was cold, but the wisps of fire had kept her at a survivable temperature.

'Is this the girl? How is she cold when she has her mother's blood?' I wondered.

'Oh right. It was something like 'Immunity to Low Tier Ice attacks' If I remember the miss' words correctly... A fridge isn't an attack. Poor girl.'

Gently creating a warm ball of fire that did not burn, I let the girl hold it like a ball.

'Why didn't she push it open from the inside? It's not even heavy.'

Walking back to where young master Jameson was, I handed him the girl and explained where I found her.

The Mister and Miss were very pleased. They insulted their maids for not looking inside an 'obvious' place like a fridge and gave me a raise.

'This little girl is a nice investment.'

...

Light suddenly hit my eyes and I was picked up by warm hands. I was given a warm squishy ball and taken to my family who were weirdly relieved to see me. Did they search for me?

'You didn't check the fridge.'

I then heard that I would be punished for not solving their test. I got spanked.

The next day...

"Okay lass. This is how you make Linnu Ssheilings. Watch closely.

Mitsuna was being taught by their royal chef.

His name had not been mentioned as everyone just calls him 'Chef' or 'you'.

Mitsuna's parents were also watching closely. Not at Chef. But at Mitsuna. Wouldn't want her to get stuck in a fridge again.
