Recruitment Issues To Deal With Later

'We didn't agree on any Deadline for joining the army so why is there suddenly a time limit that 'has passed'?'

Mitsuna wondered as she listened to Big Slime, the large muscular grey slimed man behind the broken counter continue talking.

What she got from the conversation was that there was indeed a time limit of sorts to join as not joining in the span of a few days after a General invites you is often seen as extremely rude.

That was the reason the 'slimes in iron' as Big Boss called them even showed up.

They apparently even threatened Mitsuna's favourite blank-faced emotionless receptionist, who she also found out was called Cassian.

She was happy when she heard that Cassian refused to give any info on her to the slimes in iron. The only reason they could even get to her room was that they threatened to sue the place or something along those lines. Thus, Big Boss here allowed them to go and knock on her door and ask some questions while he himself called their superiors and complained about how they were stopping the flow of business.

In all honesty, as Big Boss said, he guessed that the slimes in iron would simply be instantly killed before they even lose their job, which disappointed him.

The superiors he talked to were apparently already on their way to punish the slimes in iron for their misconduct and whatever else they would be charged with.

The explanation for the situation was swell and all, though Mitsuna was busy thinking to herself if she could sue the government for this type of thing. She honestly doubted it but was intrigued when Big Boss told her that she could technically sue them since they let those slime in iron even approach her room.

"There's no need for me to sue the place here, it's fine really. If I did, I again wouldn't have a good place to stay.

Besides that though, how is the regular receptionist? Cassian I mean. Was he or anyone else hurt?"

"No, he wasn't. Besides the crushed pride of em slimes in iron, none's been hurt. If em anyone was I would've sued the city myself by now."

Big Boss said with a shake of his head, his arms still crossed as they had been this entire time.

"Good to know that's an option."

Mitsuna replied jokingly.

"Only for some. No average citizens or passersby can just come n' sue the place now."

"Makes sense. So do I drag those 'slimes in iron' here or outside? I don't really want to leave them lying in my room."

"Ya can drag 'em here."

Big Boss let out a sigh as he tilted his head towards the stairs.

"I'll do that. Next time when someone comes just tell them I've gone to do a job for the adventurers' guild or something."

Mitsuna said and turned around to get the soldiers.

"Ya don't plan on registering now and getting things over with?"

Big Boss asked with a raised eyebrow.

Mitsuna turned back and looked at Big Boss, answering after a single moment of thought.

"Well, I have things to do before that. More sleeping and a bit of drinking included. I don't really see the rush, as long as the enemy isn't right outside or threatening any territory then there is no need for me to go in immediately and try my hardest to shoot a scouting squad or something."

"Ya're a greedy one, huh..."

"Greedy?"

Mitsuna asked in slight confusion.

"For Time, lass... I don't know ya situation, nor will I ask bout it. But whatever the situation may be, ya can't have all the time in ya life for only ya self. Ya can't use it like that. Livin beings need to socialize, lass. Ya've been cooped up in ya room for days now."

Big Boss said with a serious expression. His arms which had been crossed the entire time now lay on the broken counter as he leaned forward towards Mitsuna, staring blankly at her.

Mitsuna's eyes were slightly narrowed, not taking very kindly to a sudden therapist session.

"I apologize if'em seems that I'm crossin' a line here. But. It seems to me that ya are Greedy for time.

To cope with somethin' or grieve I've no clue.

Yet somentimes in life ya need to rush, ya need to sacrifice some of ya time for others, for friends or family. A sapient being can't stand being solely alone for their whole lives.

Ya can't just move ya attention away to random hobbies and ignore the problems ya have ta face, stayin' alone like that's torture ya know? Usin' time like that's a waste. Make friends and interact more with people, it'll save ya enough time ta enjoy far yaself and help ya with dealin' with what ya need to do, whatever that might be. Since. Ya won't be doin' it alone.

A life all alone is not a life that should be lived, lass. That needs ta be fixed."

Mitsuna stayed silent. Not saying a word and simply staring at the serious face of the big slime with a blank face. A cold look in her eye. A moment passed. And...

"Fix your accent, slime."

Turning back around to face the stairs, she walked off.

"I don't have time for 'others'. Not now."

Mitsuna muttered mostly to herself, still being audible enough for Big Boss to hear.

She walked off and out of sight without another sound.

Big Boss let out a sigh as he saw tied bodies of guards fall from a dark shadow on the ceiling and land hard on the ground.

Big Boss walked to the back of the inn, through the door behind the reception as he ordered some workers to keep an eye on the incapacitated slimes in iron.

Walking to his office and sitting down, he opened his drawer that was filled with thousands of files on thousands of people and took out an empty one.

Writing down her name, he started filling out the file. All that he saw with his Skill and the subtle changes Mitsuna experienced during their 'talk'.

He didn't even plan to talk to the new guest about what was bothering her and simply just write down what he is obligated to. But.

After activating his Skill he was almost heartbroken.

Narrowing his eyes on the file. He stopped mid-sentence.

Placing the file on his desk he rubbed his eyes.

"What a piece of work."

He muttered to himself.

'Shattered...'

Is the only word he could come up with that seemed to suit his opinion of her.

...

Mitsuna returned to her room. She fixed the door with a quick spell and proceeded to reinforce it.

She sat down on her bed, kicking off her shoes.

"thinking he knows sh*t about me..."

She muttered to herself at the volume of a whisper, no longer feeling motivated to experiment on anything as her thoughts were scattered between what she should do, what she wanted to do and what she wanted to ignore.

Falling on her back, she stared at the ceiling. Confused at why the big slime's words struck as deeply as they did. Mitsuna's emotions, unknown to her, were unstable.

A pained frown, plastered on her face.

The file that was being written about her now, reflected that instability. Explaining it thoroughly. Yet it would be some time before the file would be complete.

All that Mitsuna herself knew about her current conditions, was that they needed to be fixed. And for that, she needed information and more than from a single library or country. Mitsuna started concocting a plan as she slowly started falling back asleep as sleeping seemed to be one of the only things that could calm her psyche.
