Retaliation

"Eish…Why must alcohol be so expensive these days?", Liu Qing complained as he took another sip from the beer bottle in his hand.

It wasn't really his intention to drink alcohol on the way back but that dream from before still had him spooked. He really couldn't seemed to forget it so he had decided to just drink it away along with the rest of his problems.

"Yo, isn't that Liu Qing?", a gruff voice sounded from in front of him.

Looking up, he saw someone who he really didn't want to meet.

Kong Wu, his former high school bully. This person would take every single opportunity to make his life miserable. He had even been made into a punching bag once just because the teacher punished him and used him to vent out his anger.

This was one of the people who he hated the most in his life. Every time after getting beat up by Kong Wu, he would always imagine beating the crap out of him for payback.

He then noticed that Kong Wu was with his 2 other friends back from high school. One of them was fat like a hamster while the other one looked like a rat.

Put it simply, all of them were ugly as hell.

Kong Wu then walked up to him along with his friends in a white singlet that stretched out his muscular appearance.

"Hahaha. Liu Qing, it's been a while, no?"

Kong Wu smiled with a wicked grin as he looked at Liu Qing.

Liu Qing just smiled back but all the while he was thinking of something else.

'Yes, yes. Just smile, someday I will bash your teeth in'

"It's been some time, Brother Kong", Liu Qing greeted and silently asked in his heart for Kong Wu to get lost soon.

"Yes, it has and by the way, Liu Qing. Do you remember all that time in school where I helped you out?"

Liu Qing's hand tightened on the beer bottle when he heard this.

Helped him? This fu*ker always beat him up for no damn reason and extorted him for money.

"You see….I felt that it's not fair to help you out while I got nothing in return so how about you pay me some protection fees for back then?"

Kong Wu sneered as he said this. It was obvious that he came here for a specific reason.

'Protection fees? It's obvious that you're just trying to extort me!', Liu Qing screamed furiously in his heart.

He didn't know why but he always kept being picked on even in high school.

Why? Was it because he was a Eurasian staying in China? Or was it because he looked so pathetically weak that he could barely even do a single push-up?

"Sorry Brother Kong but I haven't got a job yet so I have no way of paying you right now", Liu Qing smiled.

He knew that trying to talk his way out of this was not going to work but he really was stock-broke right now. They would still hit him either way when they saw how little he had at the moment.

"Hey, hey. What is this Liu Qing? Are you taking all my help for granted? You should know that nothing comes for free in this world", Kong Wu finally lost his smile and had an ugly look on his face upon being rejected.

"You know what? You should still have your mother's insurance money, right? That would be more than enough but I'm a nice person so you only have to pay 70% of it"

Liu Qing felt his eyes become bloodshot when he heard Kong Wu's comment.

His mother had passed on when he was only 4 years old and had they had got a bit of insurance money after her death. His father had made a choice not to use that money and instead proceeded to work back to back to support his family.

But now, this bastard actually wanted him to use that money to pay some goddamn protection fees?!

Hell no!

To him, his mother was his absolute hard limit much less talking about her insurance money. This Kong Wu was just asking for trouble by even mentioning that!

Still smiling, Liu Qing put both of his hands down by his side.

"Sure, Brother Kong but first let me pay you what I have now and I'll pay the rest back tomorrow"

Kong Wu just laughed aloud when he heard this, "Good, good. You actually know how to repay someone's good graces. In the future, I will surely take care of you so you just have to keep on paying the protection fees".

Liu Qing didn't know whether Kong Wu was stupid or stupid.

Thankfully however, his IQ was too low to find out that something was wrong.

Liu Qing then moved his left hand to his pocket. Kong Wu's eyes followed his left hand in anticipation of what was about to come.

However, he didn't notice that Liu Qing's right hand was fully reeled back. It wasn't until it was right in front of his face that he finally noticed it.

Crack!!

With full force, Liu Qing smashed the beer bottle onto Kong Wu's head.

Liquor and blood spilled down from Kong Wu's hair as he fell backwards, unconscious.

"Brother Kong!!",both of Kong Wu's lackeys yelled out when they saw the scene. They didn't expect Liu Qing to be so bold.

Liu Qing on the other hand, didn't stick around to see what happened.

Right after smashing the beer bottle on Kong Wu's head, he straight away bolted in the opposite direction. He knew if he got caught now, he would be as good as dead in their hands.

...

"Hah! Hah! Looks like I shook them off", Liu Qing panted as he stood in front of his apartment.

He had managed to outrun Kong Wu's lackeys and thankfully, they didn't give much of a chase and instead went back to look after Kong Wu. Otherwise, who knew how things would turn out.

Well, he still wasn't regretting the decision. That bastard wanted his mother's insurance money. If he had the chance to smack him again, he wouldn't hesitate to do so.

The only downside was that he would have a constant target on his back from now on so he would probably have to stick to deliveries for some time.

"Ahh!", Liu Qing cried out as he recalled something.

He had dropped the takeout when he smashed Kong Wu with the beer bottle.

"Sheesh…Looks like I've wasted 20 bucks for no reason. Never mind, I'll just cook with whatever there is in the house then", Liu Qing muttered under his breath as he climbed up the stairs of his apartment.

Upon reaching the entrance of his apartment, he reached into his pocket for the keys but then he noticed something strange.

The door was slightly open. He knew very well that his dad was overly concerned about safety so he would never leave the door open.

'Is it a robbery?'

That was the first thought that came to Liu Qing's mind.

He didn't know what to do at the moment since he had never experienced this sort of thing before and worst of all, he didn't have anything to fight with. Heck, he didn't even have his bloody cell phone.

You know what? F*ck it!

He rather just barge in there and throw a couple of fists or be lucky to grab the kitchen knife to defend himself than just stay out here. He couldn't just let his family get hurt while he did nothing!

Steeling his nerves, he grabbed the door handle and forcefully opened the door.

What greeted his view was darkness. Pitch black covered the entire living room as soon as he entered.

The lights were switched off for some reason.

'Did they take out the lights?'

Liu Qing wondered but he still instinctively reached for the light switch. He still wanted to check if the lights are still working.

Feeling his hand along the wall, he tried to find the switch. However, he came in contact with something wet along the wall instead.

'Did we have a leak?'

That was the first thing that came to Liu Qing's mind.

It was weird to find a leak in the house because his sister would always be the first to find out and patch it up afterwards.

After a couple moments of fumbling around, he soon found the light switch and flicked it on.

Immediately, the room was flooded with bright light and Liu Qing was finally able to see clearly.

But he soon wished he didn't.

After looking at what decorated the entire room, his mind blanked out and his eyes froze in shock and horror.
