12 Ava and Matteo

This trip was going to be different than last year, I noticed that the compass does not have nearly enough range to search the entire world, this year I was going to try to search more countries for potential Witcher's. I hoped to find at least three or four students but with how desolate the British Isles were I did not have high hopes.

I had spoken to the twins about my leaving beforehand and I told them that after finding a new candidate I would send them to the tower and they would oversee their initial training, since they students were orphaned and had no known family, they would be living at Hogwarts year-round. Whatever children I found in similar situations would live with me in the tower until they graduate. Every Witcher that lived in the tower would help with the students I sent there during the summer.

It had been a month since I left Hogwarts, I had found three kids this time and was trying to locate the fourth now. The first one I found was in London itself, her name was Ava she was an orphan staying in a very poorly maintained orphanage after giving her the same speech and options I gave the twins she agreed on the condition that I adopt her so she could stay at the castle year-round. I agreed after a few moments thought, it would be simpler this way and she would have a lot more stability if she didn't have to worry about coming back to the orphanage.

She was also the first muggle that would go through the trial. The second was a boy named Matteo I found in Italy his situations was a little worse than Ava's, he and everyone at his orphanage was being forced to work fields eight hours a day after talking to him a bit I understood his situation and offered him the same thing Ava asked for, but this time I just kind of took him with me after sending proof of the orphanages crimes to the local police station and when they came we pretty much just disappeared.

The third child was different. The boy's name was Leo, he was a muggle and lived a good life. His parents started praying when I introduced myself, calling me a demon. He will not be coming to Hogwarts, and I ended up having to obliviate our interactions to before I even knocked on the door, they did not take the discovery of magic very well.

I was currently in Greece and have been here for three days and this time it was weird. Every time I got to the location the needle was pointing, there would be nothing there. It was like the kid was hiding underground or in the walls but the was no human anywhere close by and it was driving me nuts.

Today was they day I started to try and find the kid, I mean really try, as soon as I got to the location the needle pointed to, I started blasting my Witcher senses full power and still found no signs of a human close by. Getting a smell of something that wasn't human, I tried to get a clear picture of what the needle pointed at and didn't quite know what was going on. If my senses were right, it was a snake and knowing that it made no sense.

The fact the needle was pointing at a snake had many implications, implications I was unsure of how to handle. Could a snake be a Witcher? I mean I had no idea, but I intended to find out, sneaking up to the spot the snake was hiding I pulled my wand and cast a stunning spell to freeze its movements long enough to bring it to the castle and set up a place for it.

After returning to Hogwarts, I set up a glass enclosure for it to stay in my room. When I had transfigured the snake's new home and unfroze it was not happy about its change of environment if the way it threw itself against the glass was any indication. When it finally gave up for the time being I made my way downstairs to finally begin to train Ava and Matteo.

As time moved closer to the start of another year at Hogwarts it was getting close to the time when Ava and Matteo would go on their hunt for the trial. I was still unsure about the snake though; I mean do I just give it the injection and see what happens? Because if I'm being honest, I was curious to see what would happen. The needle did bring me to this snake so that means it has the will power to pass the trial which is odd. How does a snake have enough willpower to pass the trial? Coming to a decision, I decided to go through the trial for the snake after Ava and Matteo go through with theirs which should be in about three weeks' time.

The two kids seemed to get along well with the twins, I think it was because unlike the other houses house Wolfsbane was more like a family, I know at least Katrina and Stephen saw me as something as a father figure and because I adopted the two new kids, I guess I kind of saw all of them as my kids. Which was weird for me because I have never had children before, even in my first life I never got the chance to have children, I was not even sure I wanted them. But here I am with four children, and it seems to be working out just fine. I think maybe I will go to the ministry to make it official sometime during this year and ask them all if they would like to take my last name.

The two new kids started out rough but have turned out great. In the beginning there was a language barrier with Matteo, but he learned quickly and could read and write well while having no trouble speaking English. He just had a very strong accent that I'm sure would do him many favors with the opposite sex as he grew older. Deciding the kids were ready I decided to hold Ava and Matteo's trial in three days and let them know to prepare.
