Chapter 12

"Braxton Hicks" piper questioned. "Yup, it's perfectly normal, though I understand why you thought it could have been labor" the doctor said. "Do you by chance have a timeline on when they'll come? I mean what if they don't come tomorrow?" Piper asked. "They'll come when they're ready, if not we can schedule to induce you or schedule a c-section" the doctor told her.

"As for tonight, though your good to go home, just take it easy. I suggest bed rest and not doing anything that could stress you or the babies" he told her. Piper gave him a nod before the doctor left the room.

"I'm sorry, Piper," Daemon said suddenly. "Why are you apologizing?" Piper asked, turning to look at daemon. "We rushed over here for nothing, I just wanted to fulfill your wish of giving birth in the hospital" he told her.

"You did great, daemon, we'll just be more sure next time," Piper told him.

When Piper and Daemon got back to the pack house her family was already waiting. "No babies?" Alice questioned, slightly disappointed. "Not yet," Piper said as she slowly sat down on the couch. "What did they say?" Bella asked. "They want her on bed rest, no stress for her sake and both the babies" daemon told them.

"Apparently the doctor thinks I'm too stressed," Piper said sarcastically. "How long do you need to be on bed rest for?" Bella asked, sitting down on the couch next to her. "Until the babies are actually ready to come out," Piper said, patting her stomach. "Doctor says any day though but he said if I wanted I could schedule to induce labor or schedule a c-section" piper explained.

"God I can't believe it's almost time," Edward said, leaning against the couch. "Neither can I" piper replied. "I'm a little scared" piper admitted. "Oh sweety you don't need to be, childbirth is a perfectly normal part of life" Alice said sitting on the arm of the couch. "I mean yeah I'm definitely not exactly ready for that but I mean after... I can't be with them 24/7 so how can I keep them safe?" Piper questioned.

"That's what we're for," Elliot said. "Alright, Alright that's enough of this, dad you have a pack to run, mom you have your volunteer thing, Tyler and Amelia have work, Bella Maria and Tom have homework... and Elliot... I have no clue what you do but I'm sure it's something that's not here" piper said. "My point is everyone has something to do that doesn't mean focusing on me I'll be fine" piper Said. "We just want to take care of you," Amelia said, leaning her head on Piper's shoulder.

"I know," Piper replied. "Mm" Piper said as slight pain filled her stomach. "What's wrong?" Maria asked. "More Braxton Hicks I think," Piper said. "Daemon can you help me get upstairs?" Piper suddenly asked. daemon walked over to her and picked her up. "No problem" he said as Piper looked at him shocked.

"Aren't I heavy?" She asked as he carried her to the stairs and began walking up them. "You're as light as a feather," Daemon said with a chuckle.

"I hate that guy" Tyler said as he glared at daemon as he walked up the steps. "Alright I'm gonna go on patrol" Elliot said before walking out the door. It was only a minute later Elliot rushed back in the door. "What's wrong?" Edward asked. "I can't shift," Elliot said. "What do you mean you can't shift?" Edward asked.

"I mean I can't shift," he said again. "Watch..." he said. Elliot attempted to shift but nothing happened. "It's like I'm human," he added. "I can't shift either," Maria said after her attempt.

Suddenly Elliots phone began to ring, and men and women began to enter the pack house. "Alpha I can't shift" said someone, "neither can i" said another before voices began to fill the room. Edward couldn't even hear his own thoughts. "ENOUGH!" he yelled in his alpha tone. Everyone just get back to your posts for now I'll figure out what's going on" Edward told them.

Suddenly Alice's phone rang. "Kyra... I'm sorry it's really not a good time" Alice told her. "I know," Kyra said. "Can anyone in your pack shift?" Kyra asked her. "How did you..." "I need an answer. I'm trying to confirm something," Kyra told her. "No, it doesn't seem like anyone here can shift," Alice told her.

"It's the same here as well as my sister's pack" Kyra told her. "It also seems like witches can't use magic right now either" Kyra told Alice. "Witches can't use magic?" Alice questioned. "What's happening?" She asked. "I don't know but whatever it is, it's affecting all supernaturals" Kyra said.

"I just wanted to confirm my suspensions. I'll let you know if I find anything" Kyra said before hanging up the phone. Alice turned to everyone. "Were not the only pack affected" Alice said as everyone looked towards Alice. "What does that mean?" Tyler asked. "At least 2 other packs are unable to shift and it seems witches are being affected as well" Alice said.

"I'm sorry, what's going on?" Daemon asked as he walked down the steps. "This is your fault, isn't it!" A random wolf snapped. "That's enough," Edward said. "Are you able to shift?" Alice asked. "Shift what are you talking about?" Daemon asked. "Just try," Alice said.

Daemon got to the bottom of the steps and then attempted to shift into his wolf form. "Nothing?" He said confused. Before he tried to run across the room. "I can't use my vampire powers either," he said.

"Kyra was right, whatever is happening is affecting everyone," Amelia said. "HEY WHAT'S GOING ON DOWN THERE WHY'S IT SO LOUD?" Piper yelled. "She can't find out about this" Elliot Said. "How do we hide it from her what if she tries to use magic?" Bella whisper yelled.

"Well don't let her," Amelia said. "HELLO!" Piper yelled again. "Hold on," Bella said, running up the stairs to Piper's room.

"Ok Elliot you're good at finding stuff out so find out what's going on" Edward said. "Everyone else get back to your posts and take some sort of weapon with you no magic means no boundary and I have no doubt rouges will still try to get in even with their inability to shift" he told them.

"Amelia and Tyler are on house protection as well, everyone else keep Piper in the dark, don't let her notice anything wrong" Edward said before turning to daemon, "you're with me" he added.

Standing on a balcony was a woman with long red hair and blue eyes. As she stared up at the sky, watching the meteor shower she couldn't help but smile.

"It's almost time," she said to herself.
