Who am I again?

Since they couldn't contact Ms Dheera, Krish took the responsibility of bringing her there. Meanwhile, Tejas and Trish were waiting for them in his room.

Trish had clutched her short wavy hair and leaned on the door. Her face was still in shock. Tejas, who felt guilty to see her in that state, clasped his pillow and hugged it, resting his chin. His head pounded with questions but it felt awkward for him to ask. However he decided to atleast try.

"What is your...um...," he opted to ask something else, "Did I know you when I had...um...when I...-"

"-We used to be friends, if that's what you were asking," she murmured.

"Oh! Yes, yes." He smiled but his brows knitted together. "And your sister?"

This question caught her attention as if it was a brand new statement. "Maybe. Don't say that infront of her though."

He immediately asked, "Why?"

It seemed that she was ignoring that question. He had hoped that atleast she would be the one who would not dismiss him. But seeing the way she paced around the room, her hair growing more disheveled with every passing minute, he didn't press her for a reply.

Trish scanned him from the corner of her eyes. The dejected look on his face made her feel guilty. She replied in a low unhappy voice, "My sister didn't like you very much."

"Oh!"

Even though Trish waited for a follow up question, guessing that it was only natural, Tejas was hesitating to do so. She had fixed her mismatched eyes on her, trying to put him at ease but it made him more uncomfortable.

Soon the door had slid open. Krish and aunty Dheera had entered into the room but they weren't in their uniform. They were dressed in loose blue pajamas instead. Or atleast that was what it looked like to Tejas. Seeing them, Trish stood still, joined her hands in namaste and bowed.

Ms Dheera gave a quick nod and smiled a little at her. "Thank you for acting so quickly. You can lea-"

"I want to stay, mam," she said that as if she had been rehearsing it.

Under other circumstances, Krish would've been furious to see her sister behave this way. But that day, she too wanted her to be there.

"Alright! You can stand beside your sister. But I do not want any disturbance."

She nodded and did as she was told.

Ms Dheera sat facing Tejas.

"How do you feel today?" she asked with great tenderness.

"Very confused. Very...much. I don't know where to begin."

Tejas was fidgeting with the end of his pillow unconsciously. Ms Dheera noticed that.

"How about the last thing you remember?"

"Falling asleep." His anxious eyes had begun to wander away from her.

"I was told that you felt like you were transported here. Do you remem-"

"-What is she doing?" he spoke, amazed. His eyes were fixed on the monitor where Krish's hands moved as fast as he spoke.

"I am just updating your details into our database." Krish replied without looking at him.

"On that wall?" his eyes shone a bit. How had he missed that part of his room when he was looking around?

"Really! How does this system work?" He walked up to her.

"Tejas!" Ms Dheera called him.

He seemed to be so mesmerized by what Krish was doing that he almost forgot what he was actually meant to be doing.

"Aunty is calling you," Krish reminded him.

"Sorry, mam...aunty...aunty mam." He walked back.

Aunty Dheera took a deep breath before resuming. "Can you describe the place you think you came from?"

"I think it was a normal room." His eyes drifted to every other corner as if searching for other hidden monitors and instead of sitting down, he moved around the place.

"Any details? Like the name of the place?"

Initially he strutted around the room, confident that he could easily answer. Then he unconsciously sat on the floor.

"I don't remember," he paused and looked at Ms Dheera with panic in his eyes, "Why don't I remember?"

He slightly hit his head. There was a sick look as if he had just seen a ghost. His mind seemed to explode with questions as he smacked himself with swift but sturdy blows.

"Stop that, Tej!" Ms Dheera ordered him but he continued to hit himself.

Until Ms Dheera clutched both his hands in hers and looked directly at him. "You'll recollect all the necessary things, gradually."

Tejas, who had been smiling in the morning, broke down in tears. Ms Dheera patted his back. Krish too had stopped her hands for a moment and linked her fingers with her sister.

"About your parents," she wanted to check something, "do you happen to -"

"-They died." He spoke in a hoarse voice. Though the women were a little astonished to see that he remembered that information, they nodded their head in silence.

Krish too tried to console, "Atleast you-"

"-They died a long time ago," he said again not listening to her. Ms Dheera hugged him.

"I was only a year old then," he whispered softly.

Ms Dheera's eyes widened.

"Do you know who they are?" she pointed at the corner where the screenshots of his parents were changing constantly.

Tejas wiped his tears and said, "I too want to know that."

"Dr and Dr Raman," the sisters said unanimously.

"And they were?"

"The people who adopted you," Ms Dheera spoke in a tone that seemed to have hints of triumph.
