1 Day 1: My One and Only Love

It's been 6 years ever since Kai left to go to America. He told me that he has to go to the US to study because his father wants him to work at their company.

Well, It's fine with me, Kai and I love each other, He won't cheat on me, ever.

We will always be together, even when we're old and gray.

Or so I thought…

"Can you say it again?" I asked Zach, Elijah's Best friend who went with him to the US.

"Kai died 1 year ago," he told me again, as he handed me a box.

I looked at the box that he is trying to give

"What is that?" I asked with a low voice, I don't know anymore, I feel weak. This is a sudden news to me

"I don't know, but Kai told me to give that to you," he said as he shoved the box in my hands, and then he left.

I held the box tightly.

Is dead…

When Zach left, I went to the living room, and then I sat on the couch, I took the box, and then I placed it on my lap.

When I opened the box, I saw an Ipad there, I took the Ipad out of the box, and as I opened the Ipad, the wallpaper is our picture from our first anniversary.

There is no password on the Ipad and so I opened it and then I went to the Gallery, and there, I saw a video that's why I clicked play.

"Bro, Is it starting?"

"Yeah, did I do wrong?"

"Nah, that's fine"

Oh God, he looks so pale.

"Ahm, hi baby, love you," He said and he even acted like kissing me. He has an Oxygen mask on, and He's so skinny…

"Baby, I'm sorry I wasn't able to tell you about my condition, I know what you'll say if I told you about my condition, 'You should've told me so I can take care of you' But I know you'll cry when you see me suffering from this damn illness, and I don't want that" Sabi niya, he mimicked my voice when he said what he thought I would say If I knew.

I chuckled while tears are forming in my eyes.

"Baby, I love you, I want to see your face, I want to hear your voice, I want to talk to you, I want to hug you right now, But I can't, because if I did, I would lose control over myself, I wouldn't be able to take it, That's why I can't tell you"

It's okay love, I know that you want to get well, but you also need to rest now

"Baby, thank you for being with me, thank you for loving me, thank you for giving me a reason to fight for 5 years, I am thankful to you for many things, I can't elaborate all of it, It's a lot after all," He told me as he chuckles

"Baby, I want to read this on our wedding day, but I don't think that'll happen, that's why I'll read it here instead, you better listen, okay?" He said while taking out a piece of paper.

"Hey Celest, Finally, I can finally marry the most beautiful woman in the universe, we can finally start building our own family together, Celeste, Thank you for loving me, Thank you for saying yes as I asked you to be my girlfriend, Thank you, because of you I finally found the direction in my life, because of you, I learned what love truly is, I used to envy my mom and dad, because they are so strong, but then I can finally have that strength too because of you, thank you for trusting me, even though I have to hide somethings from you, like the fact that I was supposed to propose to you, anyways, Celeste, I plan to repay you for all of those things by being by your side, loving you until death do us part, I vow to cherish you, to respect you, to Love you and our future kids, to do my role as your husband and as your children's father, I vow to be Loyal to you, I vow to trust you the same as you trust me, I, Kai Elijah Manolo, take you, Hana Celeste Callista, to be my wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to Love and to cherish, From this day forward till death do us part" He told me as he smiled at the end, I couldn't stop my tears any longer.

"You are so unfair, I wasn't even informed about this..." I whispered while crying.

He chuckled at the video like he can hear me in real-time.

"Be happy, Celestine, that's my only wish" He told me as he grinned at the camera. Then the video ended.

I traced his smiling face at the video…

"I love you, Kai, thank you for loving me too," I said as I hugged the Ipad.

"I am truly lucky to have you"

A week later, after asking Zach where Kai's graveyard is, I finally went, I wore a white top and skirt, then I paired it with my white shoes, and I brought the sunglasses Kai bought me on our first anniversary as a couple.

I placed the tulips that I bought in front of Kai, That's his favorite flowers after all. After I placed the tulips, I sat in front of his grave.

"Hey, Love, I finally found you, too bad I never got to see your handsome face one more time, It's hard you know, Waking up and knowing, remembering that the love of my life, is no longer here, But I know I can do it, I can live on for the both of us," I said while looking at his grave.

"Wait, since you read your vow on the video, I made one as well, and I'll read it to you right here," I told him or his grave, as I took the paper where my vow is written.

"Kai Elijah Manolo, Ever since I first saw you I already had a crush on you, and I never thought that the day will come where you will court me, I never thought that you'll wait for me for a whole year and I knew I picked the right guy when I said yes to you, Love, thank you for bringing me happiness, thank you for cheering me up when I'm down, thank you for being by my side when things got harder for me especially in college, Love, I promise to support you properly as your wife, I promise to be a good mother to your children, I, Hana Celeste Callista, take you, Kai Elijah Manolo, as my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to Love and to cherish, From this day forward till death do us part" I read the contents of the letter, and then after reading the letter, I placed it under the boquet of tulips on Elijah's grave.

"Love, I hope, If second life is indeed real, I hope to be with you again, to find you and to be your significant other one more time, I love you, Kai," I said then I traced his name for a bit, and then I left.
