Chapter 14: Anything can be a lesson

Alex eyes opened, as he noticed he Is lying on a soft grass.

He than smelled a cooking aroma, as he seat up.

The sun is hanging above his head, and he entered the kitchen to see.. Andra and Lacus fighting with a Spoon?

"I told you! A kid can't eat too much salt!" Lacus said, blocking an attack from Andra.

"No salt is like no flavour! It needs to be nice!" Andra said, taking a step back and charged again.

'What is happening now...?' Alex felt confused, seeing two adults fighting due to cooking..

"There is salt! But it's just alittle!" Lacus said, as he grabbed a knife from nearby. Pointing at Andra

"There isn't! Your taste is clearly too weak!" Andra grabbed the chopping block as a shield.

Than black smoke slowly came out of the pan.

The two turn and look at it for a moment, before they quickly put away the things and panic.

"It's burnt!" The two shouted, as Laucs off the flame and Andra open the window in front to let the smoke escape.

The two sighed, as they glanced and saw Alex standing there. They lowered their head in embarrassment.

"How about. We go to the cafeteria to eat?" Alex said, as the two nodded.

But it look like they are surrounded by a depress aura, as the two followed Alex to the school cafeteria.

"We still have dinner." Alex said, trying to cheer the two up as he bite into his burger.

"I guess.." The two said, slowly eating.

"Alex, let's go buy some ingredients for dinner later." Lacus said.

"Huh? Why not bring Miss Andra?"

"I. Been banned from those places." She awkwardly chuckled.

"Huh? Why?" Alex asked, but felt like he knew the answer.

"Food fight." Lacus simply said, but Alex seem to understand.

"It's reasonable to ban you afterall." Alex nodded.

"What's that suppose to mean?.." Andra felt like crying, as she lowered her head and num on her burger. "At 4 you will have your mock battle. So rest up. You won't be able to beat me." She muttered loud enough for the two to hear.

"But I managed to injure you last time?" Alex said.

"That. I wasn't ready!" She jumped and said, as a few people that was in the cafeteria turn and looked at her. She quickly seat back down and grumbled.

"Well, hurry up and finish your food." Lacus said, finishing his burger. Alex also quickly eat the remaining of his burger.

After lunch, the two went to buy groceries.

Lacus taught Alex how to pick good ingredients from the bad ones.

"Right, when battling Andra. Be careful when she close her eyes." Lacus said, as he is carrying a few bags of ingredients.

"Huh? Why?" Alex felt curious, as he felt closing one eye during a fight is a silly move.

"Never underestimate your opponents." Lacus said as a matter of fact. "Always assume that they are out for your life. That's the way of a hunter anyway."

"Is being a hunter dangerous?"

"Someone true nature comes when their life is on the line."

"I heard someone said that before."

"Well. I don't believe in that." He said, as they took a turn to the school. "There's no point overthinking sometimes. If you are backstab, just remember the wound and not let someone else feel it. I like to go with the flow. I abandoned people before, no matter my reasons, I still did it without a second thought."

"What happen to the people you abandoned?"

"You seriously belive that?" Lacus touched his heart looking hurt.

"I only know you for one day. I don't know your personality well enough to see what's a joke and what's not." Alex replied, as Lacus laughed.

"Right right." When he said that, they reached back the the house.

"Put the ingredients on the table and go help cut the grass." Lacus said, as Alex put down the two small bags and went to the backyard.

"Think fast!" He heard Andra shouting, as he turn to that direction of that voice to see a scissors blade coming him.

With his natural instinct, he was about to duck but saw a wooden plank shot above him. The scissors stab it and it flew above Alex head, landing a few distance away from him.

He breathe a breath of relief, as he wiped the sweat on his head that started to form.

"Andra! He's just a kid!" Lacus shouted, as Andra who was on the roof froze for a moment.

"Sorry! I thought he would have sense that coming!" She said, as wind gathered around her and she floated down.

"Alex, you alright?" Lacus asked from the house, as Alex gave a thumbs up. "Have fun cutting the grass!" He said, as he went upstairs.

Alex turn to see, there a part of the garden grass has seem to overgrown.

"Let's get to work. I will cut those trees, you cut the grass." Andra said, taking the scissors from the board and broke the blade. Passing one the Alex.

"How do you cut with this..?" Alex took the one blade, as he look at it.

"Use your mana. You can't use aura." Andra said, "Good luck." She said, walking to part of the garden and started slicing some of the leaves off.

Alex held the blade, and went to the grass. He tried putting mana on it, as he wave the blade across the uneven grass. As it cut like cutting butter.

"Cool..." Alex eyes shone, "I didn't know you could do that." He than started slowly cutting the grass evenly.
