1 Ch1:A rough start

"Shit!"

Between the growling of wolves and the snapping of twigs and leaves, could also be heard the loud cursing of a young woman.

Her long dress got caught in a tree branch, causing the woman to slightly slow down her pace. While tugging with all her strength to break free, her dress ripped with a loud screech.

But it didn't matter. Nor does the fact that she abandoned her high hills away and her feet were hurting. None mattered as long as she was alive.

Run. That was the only thought in her mind.

I need to be faster.

But after a few good minutes of sprinting at her full speed, she felt herself growing weaker. Her legs were starting to get cramped from exhaustion.

It was harder to keep going. Her breath was labored and sweat was stinging her left eye.

If the situation allowed, she would long since have collapsed to take a break. But stopping means dying. And she refused to become wolf chow.

The woman takes a peak behind her, but because of it, she trips on a tree root and lands face first in the dirt.

"Fuck!"

She starts to crawl and eventually gets up, but after a few more steps she stops.

Before her stood a river . A god-damn river. How the fuck didn't she see the river. She's dead. She's so dead.

The growling wolves start to surround her. There were 5 of them. But even if it was only one, it would be enough to finish her.

Her options were to die ripped by wolves or to drown. But even if she jumped in the river, who knows if the wolves don't come after her?

She was scared like never in her life.

Her eyes were starting to get clouded by tears. Yet she refused to let them fall.

She would rather not whine like a baby in her last moments.

She picks a big piece of rock and squeezes it tightly.

Damn wolves! Damn forest! Or jungle! Or what the fuck this shity place is!

It seems like the wolves have gotten tired of waiting and were slowly getting closer.

One of them starts sprinting and lunge a bite at her calf, but she hits it as hard as she can in the head and kicks it away from her.

The others seem to take that as their cue and run, all at the same time.

That's it. She can't win. But she won't go down without a fight.

Just as she was preparing for the impact, a loud roar came from the trees. And a massive shadow soon overtook her view.

The shadow turned out to be a black panther. A huge one. Are they even supposed to be this big?

Damn! What am I even thinking?

The girl slowly distances herself from the fighting animals while they are distracted.

Who cares if that panther looks like it's on steroids, as long as she gets away.

With a slight limp, she starts to go further in the woods and feels like maybe she's not really that hopeless.

Now that the adrenaline was fading, she could feel like her whole body was screaming from overextension. Her right ankle was probably only sprained, but the soles of her feet were killing her.

It was challenging to move. She was struggling with the help of the trees around.

But eventually, her tired legs gave in, and she collapsed under a tree.

I can't stop yet.

She tried to get up only to fall.

The woman looked at her bleeding feet and then at her trembling hands. One of which still holding into the rock without even realizing. Her fingers were white from how much stench she put into her grasp. Her breathing was labored, and her head felt light. The world around was a bit too dazzling for her dizzy self.

A snapping sound from the bushes ahead got her attention. A big black feline emerging from them and was closing on her.

It was the panther.

What the fuck is it doing here?

That was her last though before her consciousness was fading away.
