A Vampire's Tale

The world of Norvak isn't for the weak. A land where might makes right isn't for the faint of heart. A land where different species battle for supremacy and the defeated either enslaved or exterminated. The continent of Revix has witnessed the rise and fall of many species. With a relatively peaceful period being established a little over ten thousand years ago. The result of this peace is the separation of different species. The land of humans, Cyntros, covered most of the central part of the continent. The lands in the north, Aterix, gave shelter to the elves and other creatures of light. The south held the creatures of darkness and it's original name, Rimul, long forgotten. A land that the humans had long dubbed, The Darklands. To the east was an endless desert where the banished and hated lay their bones. A place where nature threatens both predator and prey. Yet most feared of all was the west, a land of giants and titans. Where mountains vanish and valleys form from the movements of it's inhabitants. On the edges of The Darklands, the greed of men sends a group of hunters to their demise. The lone survivor, Milas, is turned into one of the ruling species of The Darklands, a vampire. With a past clouded in mystery and an uncertain future, Milas does all he can to survive. With the potential to become more than he could have ever imagined, Milas faces all threats that come his way. "The right to live is a privilege that only the powerful have access to. I don't appreciate others having that privilege over my life. And I'll do what I must to earn my right!"

Leaves crunched and twigs snapped as fast moving feet stepped on the forest floor. Sweating and panting, Gaston chased after a group of fleeing vampires. He had bumped into the trio and they tried to avoid him. That happened some minutes ago and Gaston had been pursuing since.

Milas had wanted to stop and deal with the idiot that relentlessly chased but he didn't have the time. He could only hope that the person will give up after they left the forest.

Asher suddenly sped up when he saw the treeline up ahead. The two behind him did the same but were soon forced to come to a grinding halt. Asher had seen a thin line on the ground that was almost completely camouflaged by the foliage.

"Why are you stopping?"

Before Asher could answer, their pursuer appeared. Milas was happy that it was just an unarmed student whose balls had grown a little too much for his pants.. He unhesitatingly dashed at the teenager as a sword materialized in his hand. The distance between them vanished and Milas swung at the boy's chest.

The teenager seeing the edge of the sword getting too close, jumped back but the tip of the blade managed to reach him. A sharp clang came from the point of contact as something below the teenager's uniform blocked the hit. Milas was stunned long enough for the teenager to gain balance and dash past him.

Asher was already behind Milas with a wound up fist when he read the teenager's movements . The teenager however, had seen it and proceeded to duck under the arm with incredible flexibility. He knew that he had gotten past Asher but in an instant, blinding pain from his thigh made him stumble. His body leaned forward drastically carried by his momentum before coming to an abrupt halt.

"Hahahaha!"

The loud laughter sounded terrifying as the source of it was hidden among the trees. The laugh grew louder and nearer till a tall and lithe vampire with a short mustache came into view. He was dressed in a full body dark green outfit that bore the academy badge on the left breast. The man's laughter finally ended after the whole group could see him clearly.

"I only followed the first kid to see the look on his face when he discovered the barrier but you three, are a welcome surprise." With that, the man took a step forward and his body blurred into an afterimage. Milas suddenly saw the man's face in front of him before his body flew away at speeds equal to his sprinting pace.

The fist to his stomach had literally folded Milas like a book while simultaneously carrying Asher along for the short ride. The two slammed into the barrier behind them and fell flat on the ground. Step stared at the two boys momentarily which was enough time for the man to lift her by the neck and pin her against the barrier.

Gaston scrambled to his feet while the man was distracted and ran. The dagger that was previously in his thigh was in his hand and the wound was closing up. He had barely made five steps when Step crashed into him. Gaston pushed the girl off him but paused his hopeless attempt at escape.

His body remained motionless despite the constant urge to run. The man was using his aura to suppress the young vampires. His posture leaked overconfidence as he slowly drew closer to Gaston. Gaston saw the man's hand reaching for his face as blood energy simultaneously formed claws on the fingertips. The hand slashed with terrifying speed.

CLANK!!!

A sword stabbed deep into a tree after the man parried it with a slap. He leaned back just enough for a follow up attack to miss his neck. He was about to counter with a punch but something hit the side of his arm causing him to miss. The situation had turned unfavorable which made him leap back in retreat.

Sol stared hatefully at the two nuisances that interrupted his hunt. One had shoulder long hair and a sword in hand while the other had short hair and was unarmed. Seeing them standing there trying to fight back was insulting to Sol. A heavy mental pressure slammed into the two teenagers when Sol's eyes lit up.

"Kneel!"

The order was given and Milas struggled for a second before his stance adjusted to support his body better. The time spent training with Deogratius meant that he was constantly exposed to the charm skill. His resistance to it had in turn, grown by leaps and bounds. Milas immediately dashed ahead with a horizontal slash aimed at the man's waist.

Sol was stunned by the development and was a little slow to react to Milas' strike. The only thing he could do was harden his skin and take the hit. The sword was stopped but some of the force reached his organs. A rage filled fist flew at Milas who braced for the impact that never came.

At the last second, Asher had haphazardly parried the punch causing his left forearm to break. Sol who was shocked by the intrusion of Asher, who was supposed to be kneeling, received the uppercut of the decade. The hit from Asher threatened to knock his head off his body as it lifted him up.

His lower jaw and some teeth cracked from the impact. His body roughly hit the ground and his mind was blurry. Sol hardened his torso just in time to stop the follow up sword thrust. The tip of the blade was stuck in his hardened skin just above the heart. His hands hardened as a thick layer of blood energy coated them. Sol angrily hit the sword causing the blade to shatter into two.

Milas immediately distanced himself from Sol after his attack failed. Asher was already by his side with his fingers curled into loose fists, the bones of his forearm having healed.

Sol, on the other hand, was pissed beyond reason. His pride took a heavy hit when he almost died to two students. The mere fact that they had the audacity to try defeating him irked Sol greatly. The murderous glint in their eyes as they glared at him were the last straw.

"You pathetic little half-born rank vampires think that you stand a chance? I'll crack your skulls open and find out the source of this madness. You'll regret ever tryi.... "

"You talk to much."

A short sentence stopped Sol's threats in their tracks. Milas had a smirk on his face while looking at the veins popping out on Sol's temples. Meanwhile Asher, who caused Sol's rage, had the same blank expression he maintains during fights.

Sol summoned a plain sword from his storage and pointed it at the duo. The hardened blood energy on his arm flowed into the sword. Numerous red veins of energy formed on the blade and gathered at the bright tip. The protection of Sol's right hand was being used to empower the sword which made it the only place worth attacking.

Dried leaves and twigs launched backwards as two vampires and a half breed clashed. Milas used his broken sword to block a slow downward slash from Sol and the result was disturbing. The weight of the attack brought Milas to his knees despite the momentum from his dash. Even worse, Sol's sword had almost cut through Milas' blade.

Asher was in a pinch too. His fist was caught by Sol's left hand and his fingers were being crushed. Both Milas and Asher aimed their free hands at Sol's torso as both of his were busy. The hits were timed perfectly to make them almost impossible to stop.

There was a sudden weight loss on Milas' left hand that was holding the sword and a dark premonition set in. He knew exactly what was about to happen but could only helplessly stare. The blood red edge of Sol's blade passed through flesh and bone with little resistance. Three fountains formed from the stumps of what used to be Milas' and Asher's hands.

The flawless attack from Sol took every limb that was in the swords path. Asher lost both hands and Milas' left hand was spared due to being at the starting point of the blade's journey. A kick put Asher to rest a short distance away from the unconscious Step.

The same sword that took his hand was now almost completely coming out of his back from the ruthless thrust by Sol. The sword was used to lift Milas' skewered body to its feet.

Sol had a fiendish grin on his face that widened when he saw that Milas' eyes were completely white. The situation lasted for about three seconds before Milas' pupils returned while burning red. He slowly stretched his hand towards Sol's face that maintained its grin.

Milas' hand slowed drastically and halted just shy of Sol's face. The burning light in Milas' eyes diminished and vanished soon after. The hand fell managing to graze Sol's chest with the fingertips. There was a tiny spark that appeared upon contact. The phenomenon occurred so fast that it went unnoticed despite the red color of the spark contrasting greatly with the dark green outfit that Sol wore.

The spark went unnoticed but it's effects were profound. Sol's chest swole rapidly like his rib cage was containing an explosion. A nosebleed followed and Sol's body relaxed before falling on the ground.

Milas stood with a sword in his chest and a smile on his face. The smile remained even as he fell down and lay on his side staring directly at Sol.
