A Vampire's Tale

The world of Norvak isn't for the weak. A land where might makes right isn't for the faint of heart. A land where different species battle for supremacy and the defeated either enslaved or exterminated. The continent of Revix has witnessed the rise and fall of many species. With a relatively peaceful period being established a little over ten thousand years ago. The result of this peace is the separation of different species. The land of humans, Cyntros, covered most of the central part of the continent. The lands in the north, Aterix, gave shelter to the elves and other creatures of light. The south held the creatures of darkness and it's original name, Rimul, long forgotten. A land that the humans had long dubbed, The Darklands. To the east was an endless desert where the banished and hated lay their bones. A place where nature threatens both predator and prey. Yet most feared of all was the west, a land of giants and titans. Where mountains vanish and valleys form from the movements of it's inhabitants. On the edges of The Darklands, the greed of men sends a group of hunters to their demise. The lone survivor, Milas, is turned into one of the ruling species of The Darklands, a vampire. With a past clouded in mystery and an uncertain future, Milas does all he can to survive. With the potential to become more than he could have ever imagined, Milas faces all threats that come his way. "The right to live is a privilege that only the powerful have access to. I don't appreciate others having that privilege over my life. And I'll do what I must to earn my right!"

The tall spear wielder didn't know what to do but he didn't have to worry since Milas made the decision for him. A heavy punch sent him reeling backwards but his grip on the spear was as strong as ever. The chubby teenager struck from the side but Milas had seen him and ducked. Milas kicked the chubby teenager away but the tall one had recovered and punched Milas' exposed face.

Milas was in trouble but he had prepared for such a situation ever since he was attacked by the third years. Milas knew that he had to get rid of one of them quickly so he chose the spear user. His grip tightened on the spear and he used all his strength to spin the spear. The spear's owner was briefly moved to the side before he widened his stance to maintain stability.

Milas let go of the spear with one hand to throw a punch and the tall teenager used his right hand to cover his face. The attempt to block was useless as the hit landed perfectly bringing him a dizzying amount of pain. The teenager let go of the spear and went on his knees. There were whimpers escaping his lips as he clutched his crotch.

Milas had faked the punch as his target was a ball shattering kick. He was now armed and ready to face the chubby teenager. Horror gripped Milas' heart when he realized that he had completely forgotten about the chubby teenager. He didn't even get the opportunity to turn as the heavy mace shattered the left side of his skull.

The world turned dark in an instant and everything tilted sideways. The ringing in his right ear was accompanied by void like silence from his left ear. Milas was trying to move his body but there was no response. He was starting to wonder if he had just been knocked out or down right killed. Panic assaulted his mind till the beastly voice of Van echoed in his mind.

"Calm down kid, you aren't in any danger." Van sounded confident which brought Milas even more worry than before.

"Please don't tell me that you killed them." Milas was already under suspicion for the incident with the third years and he didn't want anymore trouble.

"I didn't even have to take control since that thing that kills whenever you pass out was faster. It already took care of those two and didn't kill them." Van had no reason to lie so Milas had no reason to mistrust him.

"If I'm okay then where am I and why can't I see anything." Milas was still a little worried since he still couldn't feel his body.

"You are in your Subconscious Domain or where it should be. You currently don't have enough life force to form and maintain a Subconscious Domain. You might be able to form one when you get much stronger than you are now. You can get back control of your body now since you're already healing." Van's voice started to fade and Milas could see light right in front of him. The light instantly brightened and Milas was now blinded by it.

He opened his eyes and saw the moon through the gaps of the canopy. The surroundings were deathly silent and the smell of blood suffocated Milas. It had been a long time since blood had smelled so much like blood to Milas. The vision in his left eye was rapidly recovering but there was now red hue to everything he looked at.

Milas turned his gaze to the source of blood and a frown appeared on his face. He was kneeling beside the tall spear wielder whose hair was drenched in the blood from a gaping wound on his forehead. There was also a deep bite mark on his neck that seemed to be in the process of healing. Milas was worried that the teenager wouldn't make it but he didn't have any blood nearby. The only flask in his storage space was for personal emergencies only.

Milas looked around for the chubby teenager's body and was shocked speechless when he found him. The teenager was pinned to a tree with half the spear in his chest. The only thing that showed that he was alive was the twitching of his fingers. Milas immediately tried to get him off the tree by pulling the spear out but it was stuck too deep.

"Just leave before someone finds you here. You won't be able to pull out the spear since that thing could somehow enhance itself with the mana left over in your body." Van's advice was exactly what Milas needed to snap back to reality. He picked up the bloodstained mace and soon disappeared into the canopy.

Milas was careful not leave any trails as he moved in the treetops. He kept on running till he eventually heard some voices ahead of him. Milas tried to change course to avoid the people but the voices went silent. Milas froze and held his breath. He knew that the other party was probably trying to detect any strange sounds around them. He was staying absolutely motionless when Van spoke up.

"You idiot they aren't as sound dependent as you are, most vampires rely on there nose to find things." It was only after Van it pointed out that Milas realized he was covered in blood. Worst of all was that it didn't have the intoxicating scent that human blood had. He would be traced back to the two injured teenagers as soon as they saw him.

Milas jumped down and sprinted away as fast as his body could move. His head was still aching but that was all it was, a headache. He pushed through the pain and sped up but he could hear footsteps closing in from behind. Milas was having trouble running with the mace but he wasn't foolish enough to lose the only weapon he had.

A sharp pain came from the back of his knee and his right leg went limp causing him to stumble. After a tumbling to a stop, Milas examined his leg and saw the bleeding gash in the flesh. Milas didn't even know what hit him but he had worse things to worry about, his pursuers had caught him. Seeing them, Milas was stunned.

The two people were dressed in dark, lightweight armour. The weapons they held were glowing bright red and looked like they were coated with blood. The thin red coating was flowing around the weapons like water. Milas knew that these two were definitely not students. The beards on their faces were a dead giveaway.

"Who are you people?" Milas knew that there were teachers in the forest meant to keep an eye on things but none resembled these two.

"We were supposed to be passing by but the fact that you are drenched in vampire's blood caught our interest. All of that can't be your's otherwise you wouldn't have been able to run so far even if you just fed. Just tell us where you left the injured person and nothing happens." One of the men said but Milas was not keen on doing that. These two were not teachers and even if they were, Milas wasn't going to doom himself like that. He was about to lie when someone else appeared from behind a tree.

"I don't care what you are after but you just threatened someone who is under my protection. I don't like that, I don't like it one bit." The new person was actually the dorm master. He had his daggers drawn and was spinning one of them in his fingers. "You might wanna get out of here kid this might get a little bit messy."

The dorm master said as he now stood beside Milas. The two men were eyeing the dorm master cautiously and there weapons were now held at the ready. The dorm master gave Milas a flask of blood which the latter gulped down in seconds. His wound recovered a little slower than usual which showed that he had been hit by blood energy. The wound had barely closed when Milas shot out of the place. His sudden departure was the trigger as he heard clashing blades behind him.

Milas didn't know what was happening but he was sure of one thing, enemies were now everywhere.
