A Vampire's Tale

The world of Norvak isn't for the weak. A land where might makes right isn't for the faint of heart. A land where different species battle for supremacy and the defeated either enslaved or exterminated. The continent of Revix has witnessed the rise and fall of many species. With a relatively peaceful period being established a little over ten thousand years ago. The result of this peace is the separation of different species. The land of humans, Cyntros, covered most of the central part of the continent. The lands in the north, Aterix, gave shelter to the elves and other creatures of light. The south held the creatures of darkness and it's original name, Rimul, long forgotten. A land that the humans had long dubbed, The Darklands. To the east was an endless desert where the banished and hated lay their bones. A place where nature threatens both predator and prey. Yet most feared of all was the west, a land of giants and titans. Where mountains vanish and valleys form from the movements of it's inhabitants. On the edges of The Darklands, the greed of men sends a group of hunters to their demise. The lone survivor, Milas, is turned into one of the ruling species of The Darklands, a vampire. With a past clouded in mystery and an uncertain future, Milas does all he can to survive. With the potential to become more than he could have ever imagined, Milas faces all threats that come his way. "The right to live is a privilege that only the powerful have access to. I don't appreciate others having that privilege over my life. And I'll do what I must to earn my right!"

29 Academy Test (2)

There exists a long list of pointless things done by people and punching a rock has to be one of them. Everyone participating in the test knew this but the rocks weren't giving them much choice. The two statues may have lacked speed but the walls covered for this flaw. The few vampires brave enough to try and fight were soon on the ground and clinging on to their consciousness.

Some of these brave fools had the skills to go toe to toe with the statues but Milas knew how useless their attempts were. He had noticed that the statues would heal whenever they got chipped or cracked. The worst thing was that two of the three vampires on the ground had been pulled underground. Two new statues appeared and Milas noticed that the red veins of the first faceless statue pulsed slightly with energy.

Milas had no time to think about it as he avoided a stampede from the teenagers who were trying to escape the statues. He managed to move aside and maintain balance before staring at the statues. Milas learnt the hard way to never let his enemy out of his sight. He saw the statues and something incredible.

Asher had appeared in front of the muscly boy's statue and kicked its knees causing it to stumble and fall. He then used its body as a foothold to launch himself into the air. Asher dropped an overhead axe kick onto the faceless statue's head breaking it to bits. He landed with a roll and stood up only to be pushed down by a fist.

A different was standing over him and and throwing heavy punches that Asher could barely block. His hands broke and a fist bypassed the flimsy defense. Asher was thrown away and his head was spinning but he could tell that the statue was upon him. A punch was flying towards his face before it completely missed his head.

Asher was surprised by what happened but another fist was thrown. He braced himself only to realize that he wasn't the target but someone beside him was. The statues fists kept getting deflected which looked easy due to their predictable moves. Asher knew how hard it actually was since he had a first hand experience of the weight behind those punches. He would have kept staring in awe if a voice hadn't brought him back to reality.

"You gonna help me or will you keep staring at it?" Milas screamed at Asher who immediately reacted by punching the statue's head. The statue was pushed back by the blow but Asher was completely unaffected. Milas was shocked by the result but he composed himself and came up with a plan. "You smash it to bits and I'll cover you."

Asher nodded and they dashed forward with Milas in the lead. Milas used his unusually high reaction speed to deflect the punches while receiving little to no damage. He was actually happy to get an opponent that was physically weaker than him. Milas was sick of being the weak one in every fight. The statue suddenly bent over as Asher punched it in the gut.

For the first time, the statue was on the ground and large chunks of rock had fallen from it. The statue was slowly getting back on its feet but Milas and Asher ganged up on it. It may have looked like two bullies stomping someone to a paste but it got the job done and that was all that mattered.

Milas was so absorbed with beating up the statue that he didn't notice the faceless statue beside him. A punch to his temple partially shattered his skull and threw him towards the statue of the muscly boy. The statue immediately punched his head and darkness covered his eyes. Milas tried to remain conscious and was losing.

He eventually opened his eyes and the first thing he saw gave him goosebumps. The muscly boy's statue had a bloody hand sticking through its head. The weirdest thing was that the head was facing backwards and its hands were shattered to rubble. The red veins on its body dimmed and disappeared before the statue turned into dust. It took Milas a while to realize what had happened.

"Shit, it happened again. That thing took over when I was unconscious. I just hope that I didn't kill anyone other than the statue." Milas looked around and saw the shocked expressions on everyone's faces. Even the principal had raised an eyebrow. He was probably the most surprised out of everyone since he knew that the golems he created were basically immortal. He knew that Milas had some how absorbed the energy from m golem when he punched it.

The miracle Milas created was overshadowed by the panic caused when the faceless statue knocked out two vampires who weren't paying attention. Two more golems rose up while the ground spit out the muscly boy since his statue was destroyed. The two new statues split up and charged towards the group of vampires.

The two golems caused havoc within the group and more vampires were being knocked out. Milas looked around and saw Asher battling the faceless statue that seemed to be gaining an advantage with the passing of time. He dashed towards him and did the only thing that he could think of in the situation.

Milas speared the statue and wrapped his limbs around its arms while they were on the ground. Asher used the opportunity to pummel the golem till multiple fist shaped imprints were made on its body. The two teenagers didn't stop their actions and planned on continuing till the golem fell apart.

Milas felt weak with exhaustion but he grit his teeth and held the golem down. Asher had long broken his knuckles and the veins in his hands. He still kept punching despite knowing that his healing couldn't keep up with the rate at which he was injuring himself. Milas noticed something was off about the golem since it had stopped struggling but the red glow in its veins burned brighter than before.

Asher had notice it too and he took a second to glance around him to see how everyone else was faring. He saw that the number of golems had drastically increased. More golems meant that there would be more people knocked and hence more golems. This had formed a vicious cycle and the faceless statue benefited by getting stronger each time a new golem arose.

The two teenagers realized this a little too late as the statue broke free and punched Asher away. Milas could clearly hear the sound of his skull shatter but that was the least of his worries. The tables had turned and the statue had him pinned down with one arm while the other curled into a fist. Milas kicked the statue in the head forcing it to release him.

He started rolling away to escape the range of its punches but his ribs got cracked by a kick. Milas was puking blood several meters away while the faceless statue walked towards him. The plump girl who had screamed earlier accidentally crossed the path of the faceless statue while escaping a golem.

The statue didn't even wait for the tentacles, it tried to force her body into the ground physically. It had lifted her body up and smashed it against the ground. It stepped over her and kept walking towards Milas at a steady pace. Milas backed away till his back touched the wall and he helplessly stared at the approaching menace. Fighting back was pointless as his body barely had enough energy left to stand.

Asher leapt onto the statue's shoulders and started punching its head. Milas noticed that his left cheek was missing and his teeth were fully exposed. His left eye had turned fully black. The black eye felt familiar to Milas since he had seen the same eyes when he was attacked by the humanoid creature back when he was human. Asher was laughing maniacally while he spoke.

"You think you can beat me with one punch. I will tear yo..." Asher couldn't finish as the statue grabbed his neck and slammed him on the ground. He tried to move but got kicked away like a ragdoll. The faceless statue stood above Milas who could only lift his hands to protect his head.

Punches rained down like a hailstorm and Milas passed out for a second before using sheer willpower to quickly recover. The statue was starting to move away but immediately returned when it noticed that he was conscious. Milas was beaten up for so long that he lost count of the number of times he passed out. The torture suddenly ended and Milas could only listen around as his eyes were swelled shut.

"Congratulations to the survivors who managed to pass the academy's entrance test!" Milas heard before falling into the darkness.
