Chapter One

"That's strange." Drake said to himself as he made his way to a nearby restaurant that the airport recommended and saw a man and woman walk into a dark alleyway. He was finally back to what he called home after being stuck in nonstop battle and just wanted to enjoy his time so he tried to ignore the strange couple but a bad feeling that kept nagging at him as he continued to walk. Drake had felt that way everytime he had to patrol the small villages he was all too familiar with and tried to remind himself that he was finally home so he just needed to brush it off until he heard the woman scream. He cursed loudly as he sprinted towards the alleyway as fast as he could and his eyes widened when he turned the corner in time to see the man dropped the woman's body.

"People just can't mind their own business." The man said as if Drake was in the wrong and his instincts screamed at him to run away as the man walked towards him but Drake had forgotten how to do that a long time ago and he quickly pulled out the combat knife that he always kept on him, "You're the first human I've ever seen stay to fight me."

"You telling me you aren't human?" Drake asked as he entered his hand-to-hand stance but the man didn't answer as he dashed at him and Drake narrowly avoided his hand while slashing the man's throat, "Crazy bastard."

"That's rich coming from the guy who's picked a fight with a vampire." The man said as he throat quickly healed before closing the distance between them faster than Drake could react and he coughed blood as the vampire's hand went through his chest. Drake fell on his back when he roughly pulled his hand free and gave him a wicked smile as he crouched down next to Drake to pick up his knife. The vampire raised the knife high above his head but hesitated when Drake glared at him and the vampire yelled in anger as he prepared to finish him off until he was suddenly sent flying into one of the walls by a girl in all black.

"Do you want to live Human? It would be a shame if you died here." The girl asked with a curious expression as she kneeled down next to him and she grinned when she saw the look in his eyes before shooting the vampire several times when he tried to escape. Drake couldn't hear what she was saying to him as he began to fade away until his body felt like it was on fire and the pain caused him to finally black out.

"What the hell?" Drake asked himself as he rubbed his head before he realized he was looking up at the night sky and he slowly got to his feet as he examined the alleyway he was in. The memories of what happened came back to him and he slowly got to his feet.

"About time you woke up." A woman in a black face mask said as she and three other people stepped into the alleyway and Drake immediately noticed the various blades they had, "We can't allow another Vampire to exist here but I figured you deserved a fighting chance."

"What are you talking about and how did I get here?" Drake asked as the four surrounded him but the only response he got was a slash to his arm and he realized that there was something different about their weapons. Being cut and slashed came with the life he used to live but the pain he got from the woman's knife was nothing like he ever felt and he found himself on the defensive.

"You sure he's going to survive this?" A man asked as he watched the four quickly begin to overpower Drake from a rooftop and the girl from the alleyway chuckled at him, "He might be one of us now but to let him get caught is a little far don't you think? I mean you just changed him maybe three hours ago."

"I saw something in tonight that surprised me and I want to see if it was a fluke." She told him in a serious tone as Drake took attack after attack before he began to wobble from blood loss and she scoffed as she started to walk away until the man grabbed her arm, "You better have a good reason for stopping me."

"Kate look." The man said as he pointed at the fight with a surprised expression and she turned around to see that all four of the people had taken defensive stances, "It looks like you got what you wanted."

"I've had about enough of your bullshit." Drake told the four as his brown eyes turned crimson and both Kate and the man waited eagerly in anticipation before Drake stumbled backwards as his head began to spin. The four people took advantage of the opportunity and charged towards him but stopped when Kate and the man landed next to him with guns pointed at each of them.

"I knew it was too soon." The man said while Drake was looking up with a small smile as he thought about how he had gotten into his current situation before he suddenly snatched one of the guns from the man's hand, "What the hell are you doing?!"

"Be ready." Drake told them in a calm voice as he pointed the gun above two of the masked people and all of their eyes widened when he shot the rusty support bars of a fire escape multiple times, the fire escape creaked loudly until it broke free of the wall. The man quickly put Drake on his shoulder as the fire escape crashed to the ground and the world became a blur for him as the man and Kate sprinted from the alleyway as fast as they could.
