18 A-are You Crying?

He locked it, and Everly stood, unsure if she should leave or not.

Will he be okay? She asked herself.

A long whiff fled her nose, and knowing that standing there would do no good, she turned around to leave, but the sudden sound of shattering glass resounded.

"Sir Avalanzo!" She exclaimed and rushed back to the door.

She frantically turned the handle, trying to open the door, but she found that impossible as a result of the door being locked.

"Sir Avalanzo! Sir Avalanzo, please open the door!" She pleaded in a fearful voice but however flinched again when the sound of more shattering glasses resounded.

She nervously bit her lower lip, knowing that if she wasted any more time, something wrong may happen, so she grabbed the door handle and gulped.

Her heart thumped heavily within her, and with the strength, she couldn't tell where it always came from, she kicked the door, causing it to detach from the wall and fall with a heavy thud on the floor.

This inhumane strength was something she had always possessed right from childhood, and even at some point in high school, she was constantly called a freak, especially by the boys.

She raised her head and glanced at Valerio to see his entire hands covered in blood.

She glimpsed around the room and gasped upon seeing almost all the glass windows shattered into pieces.

"I told you to go away, didn't I?" Valerio abruptly questioned in an enraged voice.

Everly stood still, still shocked by the mess he had made.

She hurriedly rushed to him to tend to his hand, but the moment she grabbed his hand, he harshly pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor.

"Don't come near me. Get out!" He yelled at her in deep anger, and Everly's heart skipped a bit.

"B-but you're bleeding," She stuttered, very worried about him.

Valerio, who couldn't take her annoying sympathetic behavior anymore, furiously punched the last window standing, smashing it into smithereens.

"I told you to fuck off!" He shouted at her. "Just...leave..." He breathed heavily, deeply in pain, and Everly, who could see it in his eyes, slowly stood up from the ground.

"I am sorry." She said to him with an empathetic look on her face.

Valerio raised his head to look at her and stormed towards her, infuriated.

He furiously gripped her by the shoulder and stared her dead in the eyes, with rage, confusion, and sadness in his eyes.

"Why? Why Everly?" He questioned.

"W-why what?" Everly, who had no clue what his question was about, trembled in his grip.

"Why are you always saying sorry to me?! You see a scar on my back, you are sorry! I yell at you, you are sorry! And now, you are sorry as well! Just what are you sorry for? Are you sympathetic towards me because I am blind?!"

He questioned and unbeknownst to Everly, two drops of tears slowly fell from her eyes.

"I don't know. I-I don't know why I am sorry! I am just hurt to see you like this! I do not understand why either! I have no idea why and I can't help it. It just hurts!" She cried heavily, unable to control herself anymore.

Valerio, who was baffled at this point, let go of her shuddering body and took a step back from her.

"A-are you crying?" He inquired, and Everly raised her head to look at him with her face filled with tears.

She stared at him, and having this sort of mixed feelings hearing her cry like that, a warm half-smile emerged on his face.

"Wipe your face," He said to her.

She did as he asked, and he had her take him to the ninth room, which was his master bedroom.

He rarely ever uses the room, so it was quite empty compared to the one he uses the most.

Everly took him there and walked him into the bathroom.

She had him sit down on the toilet, then proceeded to grab the first aid kit in the cabinet.

She tended to the wounds on his hands, and once she was done, she used the bandage to wrap them up.

"All done," She said to him as she stood up to leave the bathroom, but Valerio grabbed her wrist, preventing her from moving any further.

"Everly..." He called her, and she slowly turned around to look at him.

"Yes, sir Avalanzo?" she answered.

"I don't want you to ever cry in front of me again, no matter what. I don't like it." He spoke to her in a gentle voice.

Everly nodded with a warm smile on her lips. "It won't happen again," She assured him, and he let go of her wrist.

"I will prepare your bath now." She smiled at him and moved towards the bathtub.

She filled it up and added the petals, then walked out to let him have his bath.
