She had no idea how much time had passed when she felt a banging reverberating around her head.Julia winced and clutched at her head.Ouch.She must have hit her head harder than she thought.Then the banging happened again,and Julia heard a voice that made her heart sink.

“Julia,open the door!We know you’re in there!”

Clancy.What was he doing here?He shouldn’t have been allowed in the building.Julia had complained to the superintendent about that,and she thought it had been fixed.Apparently,that was not the case.She was just glad that the door locked automatically when you closed it.

She looked at the clock.It was evening,her apartment cast in darkness.She had forgotten to draw the curtains.Keith was coming home any moment now,if his shift hadn’t overrun.Julia could only hope he got back in time to escort Clanc away.He wasn’t leaving without force.
