10 Can't You See?

Tokyo, Japan,

Shibuya,

Samuel POV,

Samuel looked to the young man standing beside him, "Let's meet again sometime." He said with a small smile, now that he was out, he wanted to hang out with other people his 'age'. "Eh sure, I'm sure we'll meet again here." Tomoyuki replied smiling slightly as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly, he had offered the stranger his hand without thinking earlier but much to his surprise, the stranger despite looking like he belonged in another world replied humbly.

"As you wish." Samuel said with a slight bow, smiling slightly, in this world, most men he'd met so far thought he would be an ass and it was fairly amusing to see them somewhat panic when he was 'nice' to them. "Haha, of course." Tomoyuki replied, chuckling at Samuel's antics and then left waving his hand.

Samuel smiled and waved him goodbye before heading towards Mei who looked at him and then laughed, the blonde woman beside her laughed as well and slapped her back lightly. "Oh mom, we have to head shopping now right?" Samuel asked, walking up to her with a relaxed smile on his face.

"Yup, just gimme a moment." Mei turned to her friend and hugged her lightly, "Bye now Sakura." She said, separating with a smile, this woman was a good friend she had met on a similar day but her story was slightly strange, she had gotten pregnant in high school and married her teacher after having a daughter with him.

"Bye, also visit sometimes~." Sakura waved her hand with a smile on her face as the mother and son walked away.

Samuel walked with Mei beside him, "Hmm, you sure you can carry all I'm going to buy?" she inquired curiously, after all, spending time in there might have affected his health drastically. Samuel simply chuckled and looked at his mother, "I'm pretty sure I can.." he said with a small relaxed smile.

The two then walked towards the local supermarket, along the way they made some small talk about how Samuel's life had been in such a place and seeing that he wasn't exactly responsive when she talked about it, Mei left the matter alone and started asking him about his plans for the future to which he replied with a few simple words, he was in the middle of thinking about it.

"Hmm... money." Samuel said rubbing his chin in thought, he could get a part time job or do some investment in certain companies which were sure to give him wealth seeing as the timeline of this world was pretty much the same as his old one. "You can just ask your father for an allowance y'know?" Mei said with her hands behind her back, it's not like they would mind something like that and besides, his future was already set.

Samuel would be inheriting his father's corporation and that was undisputable matter not open for discussion.

"I'd like to rely on myself a bit more to be honest." Samuel said casually, still busy with his own thoughts, yes you heard that right, he didn't want to be like some typical second generation and rely on his parents' wealth to support himself, he'd much rather have an independent yet stable source of income and with the presence of the group chat, it wasn't going to be quite a problem.... he was sure of that.

He put a hand in his pocket checking to see if the phone was still there and it definitely was. "What happened?" Mei asked curiously, making him simply shake his head, "It's nothing.", by now the supermarket was already in view and the number of people on the streets had decreased by quite a bit as most were now at either school or jobs.

A few housewives like Mei herself could still be seen though and some of them were looking at Samuel in a rather 'irregular' way which made Mei's lips twitch in annoyance, she wanted to shout at them to stop leering at her son when she was literally right there but held herself back.

A woman walked up to them and nearly fell on Samuel, "People are weird sometimes." he mumbled as he stepped to the side avoiding her making Mei smile proudly, he wasn't some kid. He knew perfectly well what the idiot had just tried and so he looked at her in slight disgust as she looked at him hurt, "C-Can you help me?" she asked, appearing hurt but by now the mother and son duo had already walked away.

"Good job, son of mine!" Mei smiled smugly with closed eyes patting his back, it appears her son understood what the world was like! He wasn't some naive kid that would be led along by anyone. Just as they were about to enter the supermarket though, Samuel's gaze fell on a panicking girl being scolded by one of the employees.

His gaze then fell on the hearing aid in one of her ears and in a matter of seconds, Samuel had connected the dots. Shaking his head in disappointment at the employee's action he tapped his mother's shoulder lightly, "You go on ahead, I'll follow in a bit." he said in a low voice and she, following his gaze, simply smiled, and gave him a thumbs up before leaving.

Samuel walked up to the employee and placed his hand around his shoulder making the man look at him in surprise, it felt as if his feet were glued to the ground! "Can't you see she's got hearin' problems bud?" he said with a small smile, making a gesture towards the girl's ears who was looking between Samuel and the employee in mild panic trying to say something.

"I-I didn't notice." The man said ashamed of his actions, seeing that Samuel removed his hands and backed away a bit. "I'm so sorry." The employee said lowering his head which made the girl shake her head quickly, she didn't want him to apologise to her for something like that. "Good on you." Samuel said with a nod and after a bit more apologising the employee left.

The girl who had finally gotten a good look at Samuel had her cheeks turn a deep red but nonetheless, she bowed her head a number of times thanking him. She was fairly overwhelmed by the act of random kindness by the stranger seeing as almost no one except her mother, sister and grandmother had done anything similar for her and couldn't quite process it.

"It's alright." Samuel said in sign language with a close eyed smile, as for how he knew it? Well, his grandma had lost her hearing from old age and he had picked it up from his parents when they visited and stayed with the old lady.

"S-S-Shouko Ni-simiya." The girl spoke with great effort, even messing up some of her words which made Samuel smile, "Samuel Hayes.", he said scratching the back of his head, no wonder she felt so familiar, he recognized her, from "A Silent Voice" the main female lead of the anime which was clinically deaf after one of her ears was permanently damaged during the bullying she faced as a child due to her hearing problems.

Seeing his smile, the girl, who wasn't quite used to people being nice to her or properly communicate with her hell people like Samuel didn't even usually bother with her, felt her heartbeat speed up as a blush spread on her face, at the same time small tears formed in her eyes which made Samuel slightly panic and wave his hands trying to convey that he meant no harm.

(A/N: Tell me if it feels off or something.)
