Prologue

6:00 am

Could you be here with me forever, ever, ever?

Would you be here with me forever, ever, ever?

Waking up all alone ain't better, better, better

Every time I go the wrong way you turn me back around

Turn me back like whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Oh, whoa, forever, ever, ever, ever

Do you wanna look at me forever, ever, ever?

"Justin Bieber hits right into the feels all the time", thought Hazel to herself. Eyes displaying the colour of faded tinge of red and yellow due to the sleepless night.

She got up from her bed indolently and flipped open her lockscreen to check the time. Looking at the date instead, a painful sigh left her mouth almost inconspicuously for her surroundings. In contrast to the dead silence of her hostel room, her insides were screaming louder than the bombs now being reminded of some unpleasant events.

3rd April 2020

These were the usual compositional elements of every calendar but those numbers held a huge significance in her life. "It's really been two years" she whispered under her soft breath. Her beautiful azure eyes which were now lifeless became watery and began to pour down drops of emotions.

She was reminded of the day when her life was nothing but a spree. She missed those days when she knew no pain, when she was as unnoticeable as a last bench nerd and she was free to do her will.

She did not have any intentions to get up from her warm hibernating hole and it was a weekend so she made her mind to stay there all day. While scrolling through her long forgotten folders on iCloud, she saw THE ONE. Her breath hitched and more tears started streaming down her face.

After several failed attempts of resisting her urge, she finally clicked on the open icon. Loads of pictures and videos from her final two years of high school popped on the screen. She somehow gathered the courage to take a closer look at each picture.

After about fifteen minutes of pondering over her brief joyful past she stopped at that ONE picture. A mysterious smile crept up Hazel's face. One could hardly tell if it was a painfully bitter smile or a bitterly painful smile. But one thing was sure it was definitely not one of her charming, cheeky happy smiles.

That was when truckloads of memories flooded through her head and Hazel knew what was to come now ...her very old best friend DEPRESSION.
