6 Status

"Fuah!"

The quite good-looking young man downed a bottle of energy drinks as he stood outside of a convenience store.

He had a small plastic bag full of things he would later need. He had just gotten outside to buy what was needed and was now done and planning to return to his apartment.

His green eyes closed in satisfaction. This was the first energy drink he had in this new world.

'It feels different and much tastier than the ones from earth… I'm satisfied,'

That's right, this person was Ren who got transported to a new world.

He had already spent a few days in this new world and he was starting to get accustomed to his new life.

When he came to, had woken up on a good steady, and soft bed, inside a rather average-looking apartment.

A bit of exploring around showed him that it was quite good and big enough.

Still, he did find he had his identifying papers and all things needed to live in this new world. He even had enough money to live on, for the time being, so he was thankful to the goddess.

So, after taking care of that, Ren proceeded to use the laptop he had to research about this new world.

Many things about this world were confusing and quite dangerous actually as Ren found out.

But he didn't feel as scared when he remembered what the goddess told him the last time.

This world was one where superpowers existed. The earliest showing dated far back, so it was not a novelty thing.

From the things Ren picked up on these last few days, this world had one giant supercontinent, and the countries were named via the alphabet and were stronger than other countries by the number of superheroes residing inside.

In fact, although it was as big as a country, they were named as cities. City F, City J, City A, and so on.

Across the whole continent and various cities, a superhero organization existed and it regulated the rules and admission of all heroes.

Organizations much smaller in scale did exist, however.

But then Ren, as he was still researching this world on his laptop, wondered.

Why are there superpowers and superheroes in this world? Was the crime rate high? maybe criminals with superpowers outnumbered the heroes?

The answer was the existence of entities called monsters collectively by the public.

Their numbers were huge. With the most numbered being in the oceans.

But… something quite dangerous was how their appearance resulted from something called the 'gates'.

These gates opened randomly all around the world.

Not necessarily over in the continent as it can open over the ocean. Monsters would pour out of these gates if the gate isn't cleared in time.

This is the reason for the superheroes.

And in the midst of all this chaos, ren started living his new life. Him. An average human being.

'My status was basically shit…' Ren opened a snack he grabbed from the plastic bag and started to munch on it as he was heading to a rather dark alleyway nearby.

The status thingy was actually a result of the blessing of the goddess towards him.

It was due to a system called the Heroic system.

It was not like the other ones he had read about before.

It was not sentient, even though it had an administrator that reported things.

There were some features, like a store, where you can buy equipment and potions, and there was also a public chat room.

The chat room was empty and there were no members in it.

And as for the store, it required points to buy things and he did not have any, so he forgot about it for the time being.

Surprisingly, he quickly adapted to the stats and his actual real abilities being represented digitally in letters.

When he checked how his status was, he found out it was just crap.

He couldn't even do the simplest things heroes can do, and he was only slightly stronger than civilians.

Well, he couldn't be called as low as that, but in terms of heroes he was the lowest possible, and he won't be able to survive against a villain.

[Status]

[Rank: E]

[Strength: E]

[Agility: E]

[Magic: N/A]

[Trait: ???]

[Skills: N/A]

This was his status at the time.

It was utter garbage and he knew he was in trouble if he ever came into a desperate situation in this superpowers and monster's world.

Searching around, he did find that an E rank, was still easily able to let him match the various records of physical feats of the best athletes.

Of course, to be called an E rank or any other rank you just had to have one stat in that rank. The fact that he had three made him a bit special.

But, that was not enough to survive in this new world. He needed to become stronger.

And the goddess had said she could help him…

Just as he was starting to doubt the goddess, mainly for saying she'll awaken his talent when he could see his status was broken and he had no trait.

Something unexpected happened.

The same energy as before moved violently in his room just as he was done exploring his status.

It swirled around his form and penetrated through his pores into every cell of his body, making him feel as if he was swimming in a sea of warmth and bliss.

Once the phenomenon was over, his whole body felt refreshed and brimming with strength.

The first thing he did was not check his status, but rather as a normal person would do, he checked himself in the mirror.

He did not get any more handsome or something, rather his features were already good due to the goddess remaking his body.

She had made his body reach the best form possible in his previous world. Which he guessed is the lowest rank in this new world.

But, even though his features didn't change, his muscles looked more tighter and stronger than before. He felt like he had doubled, no, tripled in strength.

Only then did he check his status.

And then he got another shock.

'Sigh'

Ren stretched his muscles after he threw the bag of chips in his hand into the bin nearby.

He then promptly entered the dark alleyway and pulled on a face mask that covered up to his nose and wore it before lowering his hood over his head.

The small plastic bag filled with snacks and some other things was swiftly twisted around his arm for a tighter grip.

"Well then, let's go home," He grinned.

His eyes moved to the corner of his vision where the status window was opened. The same one he had seen that day.

[Status]

[Rank: C]

[Strength: C]

[Agility: C]

[Magic: D]

[Traits: -Embrace of Bonds (EX)

-Weapon mastery (B)]

[Skills: N/A]

It didn't appear to change drastically more than before, but, it did. In fact, from his research, C rank was the official rank one needs to have to be considered a hero and fight in gates.

Plus, his traits showed up. And even though the simple Heroic system he had didn't provide a description, it was because he instinctively knew what they can do upon awakening.

A bitter smile crept on his face as he remembered the rather insane abilities of his first trait… the dignified image of the goddess in his mind was starting to shake… he didn't want to think about that anymore, he'll cross that bridge when he reaches it.

As for his strength, he casually tested it at the house.

His fridge, washing machine, and every heavy thing in his house were easily lifted with no challenge as long as he got the right position to carry it. It was apt to name people like him as superhumans.

He shook his head from this and focused on what was on hand.

Lightly kicking off the ground, his body jumped to the wall, and then he kicked again jumping to the opposing wall and kept repeating this until he reaches the top, leaving small indents in the wall where he kicked.

It only took him two or three seconds before he did so, and then he started running on the rooftops while jumping and skipping over obstacles.

Even when he jumped from a building to another one that was a big distance away and lower in altitude, it didn't matter to him.

He just rolled on the ground and got up easily.

When he accelerated too much and almost hit a wall or a steel beam, he used his hands and pushed himself off it and propelled his body upward to the roof, before kicking the ground and running again.

Moves that would injure a normal person, didn't matter for him as he casually outdid them.

In this way, the regular way home which would take him an hour to an hour and a half, took him barely 15 minutes.
