Chapter 27: Another one.

Kennen woke up abruptly as if he had just woken up from a nightmare, except he wasn't even dreaming.

"Not again…" He muttered as he sluggishly got up from the bed.

His whole body felt like it was being weighed down by a ton or as if he caught the cold. This was the feeling he felt every time he was woken up unnaturally or took a nap he shouldn't.

As for the horn, it probably announced another invasion just like the last time it sounded and it just happened that a week passed since then.

It looked like it would be a weekly occurrence now.

Why do they keep assaulting this hotel?

Was it because of this location specifically or was it because there were a bunch of people here?

They would know when they visit the embassy tomorrow.

Or was it today since midnight had passed.

As for the invasion, Kennen wasn't worried or stressed about it even if the last time it happened two people died at the end.

Kennen and his friends went through a rank up and pig orcs just weren't a problem for them anymore.

So this should just be crystal deliveries.

Oxyotl was sleeping in the same room as him and on the ground in an air mattress along with the wolves cubs.

The horn also woke them up as the little puppies whined in annoyance at being woken up.

Oxyotl growled to calm the puppies down before giving an inquisitive look to Kennen.

Kennen stretched his body and jumped a bit to jumpstart his tired body.

"Be ready, we're getting invaded by monsters."

Oxyotl nodded in understanding and went to get his trident.

Kennen looked out of the window but there was nothing yet so he went to the corridors to meet his friends.

"Damn, we're getting invaded again?" Rafael said in annoyance.

"It looks like it will be a weekly event." Kennen said.

"Should we move out then?" Enzo wondered.

"Who cares, let's just pummel them right at the entrance and be done with it." Evan said.

"Let's wait for Amelia and Brandi, then we'll go to the entrance." Kennen said.

His friends nodded and went back to their room to prepare themselves.

Kennen also had to take out the ultra flashlight that could illuminate a whole road. It was something he picked up in case they would have to fight during the night.

By the time everyone was ready, Amelia and Brandi came down to their floor but they weren't alone.

Michael and Julio were also there along with some other people staying at the hotel.

"You guys will take care of this, right?" Julio asked them.

"Of course we'll take care of this. Are we going supposed to rely on cowards like you guys?" Evan sneered at them.

"We'll already be dead long ago." Rafael snickered.

"You promised that you would keep this place safe. We even paid you." Julio retorted back.

"Hahaha!"

Evan laughed loudly as if he had the funniest thing ever.

Even Kennen couldn't help but chuckle at how they spinned the tale so they came out in a better light.

"You're giving us crystals because you're a b*tch! It's that simple!" Evan laughed at his face.

"Don't put up a brave front and just run straight to the roof." Enzo added,

Kennen couldn't hold it as he just laughed mockingly right at them after seeing Julio having a wronged expression and Michael fuming but being held back by his girlfriend while the other spectators had mixed expressions on their faces.

It kind of made him feel like they were bullies.

"Come on guys, leave them alone." Frank stopped them before toward Michael, "But seriously, you guys should stay in your room and get out of our way."

Julio went back to his amiable expression and said to the rest of the people, "Let's go people, we should let the pro handle this."

With that, they went up the stairs while Kennen and his friends went down.

"Trash."

"Coward."

Amelia and Brandi muttered when Michael passed by them.

Kennen thought he would explode right there and then but was once again soothed by his girlfriend.

So Kennen and his friends left them alone and just went downstairs to the reception area.

Kennen waited there for the invasion and was ready to light up the whole room with his flashlight when the fight started.

"They are here." Enzo warned them as he stood on watch in one of the windows, "But there's a little problem…"

"They are all armored."

Kennen approached the window and sure enough, all the pig orcs that came were armored.

"Would that be a problem?" Brandi asked worriedly.

"I mean, they are a bit tougher for sure but they are basically the same as normal pig orcs." Kennen replied.

"Yeah… block, dodge and then hit the head. All the same." Evan replied as if the news didn't change anything.

"Yeah, we all ranked up, those armored pigs aren't what they used to be anymore." Even Rafael was feeling confident.

Kennen also felt that they could take on the armored pig orcs even if there were 20 of them as they could easily find a way to kill them unlike before when they couldn't even strike at their weak point.

Moments like that also showed their decision to grind was a great decision since that allowed them to be ahead of the curve and be stronger than their opposition.

"There are a few midgets too." Enzo reported.

Kennen saw a dozen mini cyclops along with the armored orcs. They kind of looked out of place when they were with the armored pig orcs.

"Why are the midgets with them too? To bolster their numbers?" Evan asked.

"It's forty of them now… Can we really do it?"

"Should we play it safe?"

Brandi and Amelia were starting to get worried.

"Nah, we'll be fine as long as we keep the pigs between us and the midgets." Evan was still confident.

"What do you think?" Frank asked Kennen.

Kennen thought about it.

Evan could hold his own just fine.

Brandi had her new skill Parry and Amelia watching over her so she would be fine too.

Frank would have to dodge, which meant the front line broke through unless he killed every single pig orc only after one dodge, but Rafael would be there to hold some back so the line would hold.

Enzo would also be there to trim up the number with his ability to kill a monster per shot thanks to his Power Shot and Curve Shot, which would also help them from getting overwhelmed.

"I think we can do it. Oxyotl can also go to the backline and handle all the cyclops by himself." Kennen said.

He then looked at Oxyotl to see if the lizardman could really handle all those cyclops and got a nod back.

Those mini cyclops couldn't block attacks they couldn't see coming and Oxyotl could turn invisible, the only downside was Oxyotl had to quickly end them as invisibility consumed a lot of Kennen's stamina.

"Alright. Let's do it." Frank nodded.

Everyone took their positions and were ready.

Oxyotl was near the windows, ready to sneak off and slaughter the mini cyclops when the armored pig orcs charged in.

It didn't take long as thirty or so armored orcs assembled and charged into the hotel with a loud roar, except they couldn't knock the cars away and had to get on top of the car before getting into the hotel with the little space remaining.

What greeted the armored orc as they squeezed through the entrance was a stab to the head.

The backline didn't even have to do anything as the armored orcs would be surprised by head stab the moment they landed into the hotel.

So they were just chilling in the first minute but the armored orcs started to protect themselves as they came after seeing their brethren fall and their pace also picked up.

And yet everything was under control, Brandi was alternating between parrying and Amelia freezing the monsters with her mental attack before she thrusted her sword into their brain.

Evan could handle everything by himself as he could block the attacks and thrust the javelin to the armored orc's head.

Frank was too fast for them and could easily get into their space and skewered the armored orc's head.

Enzo shot his arrows like he had an aimbot as the arrows would surely end up being embedded into the skulls of the armored orcs.

Meanwhile, Rafael would hold off any extra armored orc that they couldn't deal with so everything was going well for them.

Kennen couldn't see how Oxyotl was doing since the cars were blocking the view and it was dark but he could see his stamina draining with the invisibility use so he guessed that Oxyotl was doing just fine.

His goblins were helping as much as they could but their javelins couldn't help unless it hit an unarmored area so they had to get close and try to help whoever needed help.

The fight went on for 20 minutes just like that.

Him and his friends were never in danger during the entirety of the fights as the armored orcs continued to get into the hotel even if they dropped like flies.

Kennen just held onto the light and pointed it at the ceiling as he witnessed Evan finishing the last remaining armored orc who was binded by Rafael with a stab under the chin.

He went out just to see the last mini cyclop being lifted into the air as if a ghost was holding onto it and then Oxyotl revealed himself and flung the cyclop he was holding up with his trident away.

"That's the last of them." Kennen said.

"Ah… After all the work, time to get paid." Evan said as he panted in tiredness.

"I think we should go check out the embassy and see how they are doing over there." Frank suggested.

Kennen nodded in agreement.

This would give them some hints on whether the monsters attacked only this hotel or all settlements with humans.

"But some of us should stay here and guard the hotel."

Then they decided it would be Kennen, Frank, Rafael and Enzo who would make the trip while the other would stay to guard the hotel and loot all the crystals.

This invasion was much easier for them than the first time even though the invading force was a lot stronger.

Blocking the entrance with cars was a huge help as well as ranking up.

It was safe to say that there would be another invasion the next week and it would become even tougher so they must continue the grind.
