Chapter 59

Toren returned to the forest.

He marked the tree branches and slowly went back towards the butler's direction.

When the two met again, Toren immediately told him that things are still not settling down. The angry townspeople have stayed in front of the headquarters and are planning to camp over there.

Attempting to return for refuge there would be absurd.

They have nowhere else to go.

"What must we do now?" The butler anxiously asked, knowing they cannot camp over the remote forest any longer, else they would die from hunger.

"Do you remember the location of Madam Lumen's grave?" He suddenly asked.

"Yes," The butler immediately nodded. "Why? Do you need to go there right now? I can lead you to her grave from here."

Toren slowly shook his head, straightening up his stand. "No, but I need you to go there. A necklace of beads is located at the surface of her grave, as far as I remember. You must grab it and bring it to me at the location where the secret organization's underground hideout was found as quickly as you can. Do you understand?"

The butler naturally asked why and what all these things are for, but Toren just insistently convinced him to do it, trust him, and make haste at the chore.

The butler was left with no choice but to comply with his strange instructions when Toren quickly ran ahead.

At the surface of the forest at the southeast part, Toren halted and closed his eyes.

He tried meditating despite the swirling occurrences that had been going on right now.

When things go out of hand at times like these, he could only rely on himself and his own creations.

As soon as he heard a familiar sound of hiss, he opened his eyes and glanced below to meet the sharp eyes of the snake he made.

It was exactly how he left it.

The greenish stripes layered by black and gray hues wrapped around its skin, making it fascinatingly mysterious and dangerous at the same time.

"I need your help," Toren whispered, trying to get through the dangerous creature. "What must I do? Things are getting out of hand and I am not sure if I must do this."

"Toren, you already knew the answer all along," The snake hissed. "Is that not the reason why you sent your servant to get your grandmother's necklace? Your soul needs to be beholden."

"My premonitions were correct? Must they be fulfilled?"

Instead of answering, the snake slithered around the apple beside him and slowly swallowed the whole thing.

A small bulge gradually descended through the snake's body and completely devoured the fruit.

Toren held his breath and blinked rapidly, gazing at the scenario.

The snake began going through the grasses as if running across a jigsaw labyrinth.

And away, it went silently and mysteriously.

When he had no one else to rely on, he had his instincts. Toren closed his fist tightly and bravely mustered up that was everything in him to come out of the forest's surface.

He began running back towards the underground hideout of the secret organization and saw Coen who had finished burning all the canvas sheets.

He is now frozen at his place, sitting silently with a calm, flowing anger residing in him.
