Chapter 29

A few grueling days later, Muren forcibly mandated his second son to join the training underground.

Airen was naturally opposed to the idea, which caused a clashing argument between the couple. They were so insistent of their intentions that they ended up yelling at each other.

Throughout their married life, it was the first time they have argued so much about a serious topic.

Even so, keeping in mind their responsibility as parents, they made sure that they were away from the kids while arguing.

In the end, the father's will had won and Toren was told to participate in the training.

Rather than a negative reaction that Airen feared, both Coen and Toren actually seemed thrilled.

Later in the afternoon, they began their extraneous and rigorous training down to the organization and they were pounded with the values of a rightful soldier.

Muren emphasized patriotism and loyalty which made his wife silently furious over the side shadows for actually caving in to the prophecy that his mother had mentioned. She could barely do anything about his seething anger and what seemed like fear and insecurity.

Thankfully, Toren was able to keep up with his brother and his father's harsh training.

Since he was a bright and talented boy, it was an effortless fit for him to execute the skills that were technically taught for about weeks and months which he could make perfect within minutes.

The children kept their playful and mischievous nature of attitude despite undergoing a brutal ordeal.

Both of them felt at ease with each other's company and did not seem to be bothered about the confusing prophecy that they had first handedly heard.

Since that day, Muren had slowly developed an irking hostility against his second son.

None of them knew what had happened to cause his change of mind when he once firmly believed that Madam Lumen's prophecy was a mere blabber of a hoax.

He was first indirect with his disinclination against Toren, but it soon surfaced out like a triggering bomb a few weeks after. Muren began physically harming Toren to a restricted point where it caused little wounds and scratches from nails that dug through the child's skin.

There were red rashes from a heavy slap on his cheek, violet bruises out of punches from training, and injuries he decided to just be kept hidden.

His mother would only get worried and overreact, he thought.

Despite experiencing heavier ordeals than his brother Coen, the meek second son kept his mouth shut.

He would not complain or cause any trouble for anyone.

He decided it is only best to endure these kinds of pain because he was taught that 'men do not cry and soldiers do not wince.'

Noticing his hidden plights, Airen finally took things to matter and talked privately with her husband.

She was fuming in an uncontainable anger and worry for her child and their family.
