Chapter 23

Next day, the family went to the public park on their rest day after Coen's training at the underground. Whilst Muren and Airen sat on the meadows with the romantic air flowing around them, both their sons played among the other children.

They would be seen chasing each other, hopping around, laughing together, and even circling, doing unexplainable things that felt like a groundbreaking discovery for them.

"The weather today is very nice," Airen looked up at the bright, dazzling sunlight showered underneath the thick clouds filtering them.

Muren brushed his fingers through her smooth black long hair.

"It would be nicer if we could spend our days like this without the presence of war and oppression, would it not?"

"Of course. And look at the children. They would be more delighted to see the world beyond our village."

Muren agreed.

To them, talking to each other felt like travelling through time and through each of their once separated worlds.

They have marveled at the idea of moving through space since they were born only to reach one another and go back once again. They would retrospect and reminisce about their past experiences with their families and previous lovers – those who had only passed by incorrectly.

He would tell about the latest fad in their village when he was only little and it was mostly about farming and throwing a dime onto the well for a wish.

She would ask about the crops and the seeds and the wishes that actually came true, then she would tell something about herself.

Back in her days, she learnt about beauty and accessories.

The frills and the silver shine from pendants and colorful powders that can make a young lady's face bloom like a flower.

All her life, she had grown within the attention of people as if she was a beautiful temptation for a sin. They all admired her and coveted her.

He thought that it must have been hard to live like that and she said it was, but quite thankful that because of such a face, she attracted the man of her life and gave birth to a child.

She would look at both her sons with equal love, never making the other feel inferiorly noticed just because one was adopted.

She was truly an amazing wife and Muren could not help himself but fall deeper and deeper in love with her.

Meanwhile, Coen and Toren had been building what seemed like a sandcastle for a few minutes already. One of the children earlier was describing the castle she had seen from a picture book and it made them all burn up with curiosity.

They bombarded her with questions about the royal residents, the size of the establishment, and how it was built. Caught up with the excitement, they decided to build one and see for themselves.

The castle that they were trying to handcraft was made of asphalt ashes which they damped with the waters from well.

There were a lot more children playing with them too as they crafted a masterpiece.

They have let Toren shape the castle by his God-given talented hands.

Some were in charge of collecting the waters with a pail, some were just observing and anticipating the outcome, while some were helping in giving out suggestions on how Toren should mold it.

He carefully shaped the doors and walls and pillars. They were all holding their breaths as if some kind of a galaxy being slowly crafted by their will.

They are all enjoying it, though.

After some few finishing touches, they have finally accomplished the castle and simultaneously shouted with joy.
