One-eyed Black Dragon 1
I jumped out of the throne room that was filled with panicked elves. It would surely take some convincing from Riveria for them to trust my magic, I hope she would be able to do that...
I instinctually used a gust of wind magic to counterattack the incendiary heat of the forest fire and the heavy black smoke from the burning green trees that hit me right in the face. The captivating mystical forest is no longer. All that remained is ash and smoke. The thing made sure of it. But that was all it had done, it seemed to almost be waiting for my arrival. A dog on a leash.
"We will have a date after I kill this thing," I recalled what I said to Riveria only a few moments ago.
To be honest, I didn't believe that. How could I?

The only remaining of the three great quests. The monster that defeated a party of level8s along with a level9 as the leader and thus being the main reason for the Zeus and Hera's Familias annihilation and exile from Orario.
I gazed up at its figure in the sky. Its black scales were spotless. Going by how there seemed to be no lasting injuries or scars besides the one removed eye decorated with a cross shape, I guess the Zeus and Hera party must have been annihilated without any fuss.
*Roar*
I was face to face with that same one-eyed black dragon. It was a massive creature as its wingspan shadow completely covered the forest's perimeter as it somehow magically floated in the sky. Those slanted deep orange eyes were looking at me; a predator eying its prey. I don't think anything else went through its mind.
I could not even understand why it came here in the first place... It seemed to be too convenient to be a simple coincidence. Just as I got out of Orario...
The one-eyed dragon was not as intelligent as I thought it would be, to be fair. Likewise, I thought it would some sort of mastermind before that beastly look. I shook my head, that was good at least, it was just a slightly smart beast. I could outsmart it.
There was an urge for me to just try teleporting out of here. I mean, the elves should be safe, so there would be no shame at all in me retreating with my tail hiding behind my legs. But I don't think that would work at all, my instincts told me so. That was why I even did this whole thing. I had a feeling the black dragon would interrupt my space magic. That belief would turn out to be true.
Besides, someone needed to deal with this thing one day. I won't have peace of mind until this thing dissappears.

I inhaled a sharp intake of air. The increase was much larger than I thought it would be. But I had to adapt. I looked sharply at the large black scaled monster in front of me. It was still hopeless. But things had to be done. I had to give it to Albert Wallenstein— Aiz's father, for going against this thing, no matter successful or not.
Deciding to put all other thoughts behind me, I summoned a special weapon. One that meant a lot to me. One that would surely be the reason I may even have a chance of coming through.
[Fortis -Divine.]
That was the name Hephie and I came up after. I clutched the handle of Fortis and kissed the flat side of its shiny silver blade. It glowed in response, it almost felt as if my Hephie was with me in this. That gave me peace of mind to tread on.
I looked one more time at the beast's eyes, and it seemed to be quite shaken the moment I took out my sword. The damaged eye's surrounding muscles twitched when it saw that. Some memories were brought back.
Heh, good on it.
*Shake*
I had to cover my ears due to the earth-shaking roar it output, and my body seemed to stiffen. No other monster had that… Resiting with all my might the urge to simply pass out right here and there, I managed to stay conscious. If only barely.
The thing wouldn't let me recover gracefully because a massive torching fire breath was directed my way from its large abyss and teeth decorated jaw. It was akin to the heat of a thousand suns torching me in the face… I could only escape, but I wasn't fully successful, it seems. The spread was massive due to the aerial superiority it had 'flying' in the sky.
"*Ugh*" I groaned as I looked at my half-burned arm, just the heat was able to do that... It even went through my armour.

Those were some very scary flames. I don't think I can afford to get hit again. Luckily, the damage was superficial, and it was starting to heal already. I could see my flesh mending already at a visible rate.
*Thud*
In my moment of negligence, I was sent across the forest, breaking multiple trees along the way. This thing wouldn't let me even come close to it.
*Cough* *Cough* I grimaced, this is why dragons are a nightmare to deal with… The fuckers can just stay inborn and spam their breath attacks from a safe distance. I could use wind magic to 'fly' as well and fight it in the air, but I needed every bit of MP to feed into healing. I was barely hanging on for my life here.
I wiped the stream of blood on my forehead, it wouldn't let me see otherwise. The collateral damage was starting to further spread into the forest. I couldn't even imagine not having a regeneration skill. I would have died many times over this short period.
*Swish*
I attempted many times to make it land by puncturing its wings, but it didn't work at all. Those thick black scales were basically indestructible. I even felt some sort of force field inhibiting me from dealing damage with magic.
This was not going to end well...
