Objective.

To say I wasn't put off by that show of brutality would be a frugal lie. One look at the carefree look of the cage carrying minions told me all I needed to know— it was a regular occurrence. Just another Tuesday...

"Buahahah"

I was put out of my musings when a ring of unsettling, growing laughter slowly introduced its way to my ears.

"Nice going, boss. Buahaha"

[Gran- Lv4]

HP: 2300

MP: 150

This supposed Gran was a large bald man, he had a black tattoo that ran from the middle of his skull to his left temple. The massive two-handed sword that he carried around before was now on the ground. The only reason it was relieved from the capture of his thick hands was due to his hands being too busy holding his stomach as he bent down in laughter —the blood-curdling scream tunes rhythmed along with the low laughter and knee-slapping sounds.

"Uuugh!!" The lizard Xenos, Manu, seemed to have lost yet another wrist; sadly.

Such screams appeared to be music to Dix's unhinged ears.

Likewise, Gran appeared to find the scene hilarious. Going as far as clapping in delight for his 'boss'.

"Tsk. You always ruin the fun, you stupid brute," said Dix as he wiped the blood that rested on the short sword on his cloth pants, totally uncaring about hygiene.

"I can't hear his screams with you clapping!!" he shouted.

"Sorry, boss…" the brute rubbed his bald head and mutter lowly. He looked truly apologetic to his 'boss.' for his 'mistake.'.

Dix, the said boss, just shooed him away with a flick of a wrist.

It seems he already finished his bout of 'entertainment'. The already bloody floor turned even bloodier after the casual show of torture.

Poor Manu was no longer recognisable. Dix grinned when he took in his form if you could call it that— it was more of a huddled together piece of meat.

The shaking of the close-by caged Xenos seemed to arouse his ego even further. The poor, captured half-monsters no longer had any hopes of escaping; I couldn't blame them for it.

Dix licked his lips as he turned around; he itched for the Lamia's reaction— the main prize. Her name didn't even register in his ears.

Alas, she wasn't among the living anymore.

Amira could have handled her own pain, but seeing her loved one in such a delirious state served as the last straw that broke the camel's back.

It was simply too much.

"Damn it... Now I can't have fun." grimaced Dix looking at the no longer breathing form of the Lamia. Saliva and foam dripped from her mouth due to the accumulated stress.

They were the classic symptoms of termination by overstimulation.

'That sure was bloody, wasn't it?' I muttered, quite casually, looking at the scene.

Sadly, I was in my work state of mind. I couldn't get mad even if I wished to. I have an objective, and that objective needs to be completed. Protecting Hephie and my close ones is my priority, and to do that I need to know what is going on. There was no telling what these bastards had in store for the world, and I wasn't about to wait for them to unravel it.

A stranger or two getting tortured was irrelevant to the current me. It was a simple and logical choice that came to me as naturally as breathing.

It went without saying that I was aware of the bipolarity of my situation. I was a normal college student only barely a bit over a month ago. Such explicit gore scenes should have sent me packing, yet here I was...

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on who you ask, that was the reality of my condition.

The only saving grace was that whether I entered that particular state of mind is entirely up to me.

As luck would have it, it seems the fucked up couple was done with their little charade... The minions started putting the caged Xenos on their 'display shelves.'. Multiple cages were stacked on top of each other to save space.

Besides finding out any clues to the truth about this world, that also happened to be something that tickled my curiosity.

I just recently found out how slavery is very much present in Orario, especially in the pleasure quarters. I have been on the lookout for a rather special person there. Yet, it appears that she is yet to arrive. My wonder was rather intense about her supposed blessing.

I am very much excited to figure out how it would interact with my very special level ups. Would it actually give a full level up, or would it naturally count as a normal level up?

*Rattle*

I was cut out of my musings when the last cage was put in its place.

"That's it, boss."

What appeared to be the leader of the goons reported to Dix. He had very unassuming features; all the goons had, in fact.

A black and grey outfit was what they wore.

"Do you see this?" Dix gestured to his goggles. He knocked on them twice with his still bloodied index finger. "They still work..." he said.

'I can see how I would grow annoyed eventually with him...' I grimaced.

His sarcastic remarks were surely entertaining for a while, though.

The same maniacal grin was slowly introducing its way to his visage as he looked at the caged Xenos that turned especially more frightened by it. However, it stopped in the middle.

"No… That's enough for now," Dix hissed loudly, shaking his head in the process. "W-we s-still need the merchandise clean."

He repeatedly hit the side of his head as he repeated that mantra. He kept doing it until the goggles came off, but that didn't stop him from continuing. His shining red eye loudly announced its presence with its glow.

'We need the Valis.'

'We need to complete it.'

'It MUST be completed.'

He seemed to mutter lowly.

Seeing his inner struggle, I was reminded of the actual reason behind this entire fiasco: they needed the funds for the dungeon construction cost. I was apprehensive about who would actually be buying the Xenos… I had my guesses, but I couldn't bank on them. Likewise, I couldn't even get a whiff of a Xeno in the pleasure quarters: the main place where 'slaves' could be found. With so many gods with 'Righteous' divinities in Orario, they obviously couldn't actually go around calling them slaves. But that was the truth at the end of the day, and no one may deny that.

The only other guess would be nobles... Nobles never change, no matter the world. I had the displeasure of meeting up with one, and I can't say I would like to repeat that encounter. The only reason I didn't put a portal to the sun under his feet was that it could potentially bring Hephie some rather unforeseen trouble.

*Step* *Step*

It appears that Dix is moving somewhere else, and I had to follow him for more answers. I could have just put up a special TP mark and went off my way— not before killing every single last one of these nasty fucks. They were simply a waste of Oxygen...

Perhaps Gamer's mind noticing my volatile emotional state, I felt as if someone doused a bucket of ice-cold water over my growing flames.

My thinking grew stale yet again...

Right. That would only be wasting this chance that I was handed. The perfect chance to potentially nip the future problems straight from their roots.

Besides, I was not sure if teleportation would be possible with all the obsidian soldier's body stones on the walls… That was the perfect anti-magic material.

It appears that from now on, only Dix can enter. He needed to use his handprint for the door to open.

'Would it work….'

I debated whether just maiming and taking Dix's hand would allow me to do the same. But I ultimately decided against it. I don't think their ancestor wouldn't have thought of that possibility...
