To the Capital (II)

Eventually we arrived at the city, which wasn't as big as ours. The south entrance where we are now is intact and uninhabited.

"There are no guards in the frontier?"

"I can't see any civilians. It's suspicious"

"Keep your eyes open"

The military were speaking while our vehicle lowered the speed. I looked at the houses, which had many structural damage. It was like something had impacted on them, maybe an object of large dimensions... some of those beings made it? I can't help but to consider that option, we were invaded by one who caused havoc and especially a lot of deaths.

In that instant I had a strange sensation, a familiar feeling travelled all my body like a chill changing the expression on my face.

"Something wrong hero?" asked the captain.

"Nothing probably, it just..."

I couldn't finish my sentence because the moment we had all been fearing was in front of us a few metes away, a huge creature. It had the same colour skin that the other 2, though it didn't have any fur. Its shape was bizarre, like a giraffe stepping on an elephant. It has a long neck and extremities that seemed tentacles which used to devastate all on his way as he continued walking on the street.

We stopped without being noticed.

"It's one of them... so it wasn't a lie, they really exist" said the private.

"It can't be. It's true that they are resistant to bullets?" asked the sargent to the captain.

"We can't say for sure, nevertheless we can't just ignore it" answered without hesitating.

"But captain..."

"Don't be a coward! Why did you have entered this institution on the first place!? To protect the people! This is the time to show it!"

Despite the emotive speech the legs of the other 2 won't stop trembling. Well, it seems it's time to take action and show off a little.

"Wait here. If something happens turn back immediately" I said opening the door and getting off the vehicle.

"Hey, what do you think you are doing!?"

"Probing that I can be a hero" I answered starting to walk forward.

"Wait!"

I ignored all the rest and only concentrate on the important, this huge enemy in front of me.

Seeing the back of that tremendous being makes my hair stand on end with excitement. Once again I must show what I'm capable of, If I'm someone who can make a difference in this new world. Okay, let's go.

I focused on this feelings that become more and more familiar every time I use them, and without any problems I summon my glove and sword. The creature appears to react. It stops, turn his head and keeps looking at me. Inside his eyes a faint red glow emanate from his pupils. Finally it turns around acknowledging my presence.

We are about 10 meters away, staring at each other. Now that I think about it reminds me to a diplodocus, those dinosaurs with long necks. Besides its 4 legs it has 2 long arms that resemble tentacles and makes me remember that this isn't a simple animal, but something more powerful and unknown. A scenario taken from fantasy.

In the surroundings there were nothing more than abandoned buildings, debris, destroyed cars, signs on the floor and some cracks on the cement. I can still see the military vehicle behind me, they must be anticipating our fight.

"Take a good look, this is how you fight against this monsters!" I yelled running towards my enemy.
