But they couldn't. The thread turned golden and a light of the same color like a barrier coated it.

Memories began to fill my mind, specifically from my childhood. Dad, Mom, and my old friend.... Is it these ties that they have not been able to cut? For what reason?

Taking a deep breath he shouted after a few seconds.

An ephemeral light bathed his Objects for a few seconds, when it disappeared both had joined together revealing a new form reminiscent of a large scissors.

That must be why... now the peculiar silhouette they had before makes sense, as well as the name they had revealed. Although I'm still in doubt as to what this change is all about.

Without giving me time to understand what was going on, red made a move from where he was standing. I found it strange that he did it without being remotely close to hitting me, but I didn't manage to react in time.

An air-like slash appeared in front of me and knocked me back. I had just grabbed the sheath with my left hand and it cushioned the blow, if I hadn't blocked it involuntarily I would have probably been killed at that instant.

"Damn, this is not going well"

"This is no time for you to be careless! I won't kill you all at once, I want to see you suffer until the very last moment. Ground Cutter!"

There's a new attack coming from him. I instinctively block with my sword, though to my surprise this skill wasn't directed at me.

The ground beneath my feet collapsed and I felt myself falling. I reached out my arm to grab hold of the edge, quickly with my other hand I used my katana to propel myself back up.

I looked where I was to find a hole about 5 meters deep. Not enough to have killed me, but enough to wound me, lock me in and leave me at their mercy. I barely managed to save myself.

What are those strange powers he have now? Where did they come from? Did they go from being strange blades to being able to mystically cut the air and the ground?

Is that the hidden potential she was talking about? I don't see many physical changes in its silhouette, however I can feel something new flowing inside that weapon, something I haven't felt before.

Remembering how he managed to combine his weapons into one is what caught my attention the most, is that what she's referring to? Is it that this ability consists of joining 2 Objects into one to increase their strength?

Perhaps that's why they are a pair controlling each of the parts, so they can concentrate their will in one, I really don't know.

If what she says is true, then.... do I possess a way to do the same? I can't even manifest my glove to fight with my left hand and have my katana in my right hand like in the beginning of my adventure.

Is there anything else I can use? Only one thing comes to my mind....

Throughout this fight I've seen that my Object's sheath has more defensive capabilities than I thought. It makes some sense that the sheath that holds "the sword with the potential to cut through everything" would have great durability.

Is there any way I can use both parts of my katana efficiently?

As I was thinking it occurred to me to check the sheath and I noticed some more marked and detailed tracings than I remembered, as if they were some kind of writing.

Then I looked at the handle I held in my other hand. Was it always this thin? It's like I was able to place the sheath over there, backwards from how it should normally be. It would look rather strange and not so useful...

I tried the test of putting it through the handle without necessarily feeling more powerful, at least compared to those scissors.
