The Price of Vengeance (III)

It turns out that Lavos was part of an ancient tribe of people capable of creating special bonds with the flora and fauna, mainly with the now forgotten animals that sought refuge away from the constant expansion of humanity, and that we for lack of contact relegate to mere tales or legends.

They call themselves beast tamers. They possess an ancient knowledge passed down from generation to generation that allows them to summon certain creatures and make a contract between both beings, which translates into the ability to call them when required to help them in need. This is only possible after years of dedication and training in the ancient arts and knowledge, which consist especially in mind control through breathing techniques, connection with nature through meditation and reading the records transmitted in sacred manuscripts.

This tribe in spite of being peaceful lived isolated from the outside world among the highest mountains hidden in the greatest anonymity, in this way they would avoid a possible situation where those hungry for power would have the opportunity to obtain it and use it for evil.

Lavos was one of them, since he was a child he was raised in this environment in which he spent his whole life studying in harmony with his family and friends.

But one day an old member of the clan that was supposed to be dead appeared with a creature without equal. It is said that even among these members only a few are blessed with the gift of making contact with creatures that are considered mythological, this person was one of them. With his great strength he massacred the rest of the inhabitants of the village and stole the ancient manuscripts, burning all the rest that were of no use to him. His name was Dars.

Lavos was the only survivor of that tragedy. After several years of wandering everywhere in search of the whereabouts of his enemy and executing his revenge, he understood several things. That imposing being he possessed was probably an elemental spirit, a representation of one of the elements that govern this planet.

It's not known exactly how many there are, however it is said that they have existed since the birth of the world, that they contain unparalleled power and knowledge about this life beyond what mortals can aspire to have. The ability to control one of these surpasses in every way the limits of any tamer, so this is considered a superior state. This new title is called Channeler, a human capable of bonding with an entity beyond the physical.

In order to face him and get his revenge, Lavos would also have to obtain a contract with one of these spirits, for which he would need more powerful creatures to obey him and subdue that being in case he resists, in order to dominate him. To achieve this goal, he decided to resort to the forbidden summoning rituals that require a great sacrifice to complete the pact.

The events of the day of the Apocalypse took him by surprise. All those aggressive and unknown beasts that came out of nowhere and populated the surroundings were no match for his servants. As much as they outnumbered them, with his good intellect he managed to overcome their clashes easily.

As he passed through the villages he heard rumors of a man unlike the rest, capable of bending the rest of the mortals with his incredible tyrannical powers. Someone with so much strength and evil in his heart would be a perfect scapegoat for his experiments, and incidentally getting rid of an evil for society is a great addition.
