Prologue

A light shines in the sky.

Brighter than the stars at its side.

Even more than the full moon in this starry night.

A radiance that can match even with the sun.

I'm watching it from my window with great difficulty.

With my left hand I cover my face from the shine that makes me blind, while I try to get a grasp from what is the source of that strange light.

It's so shiny that I can't watch it directly.

"What causes it?" I asked myself constantly while I left my house going to the street trying to see it's origin.

It seems to came from some kind of aurora borealis.

In this night sky? In this part of the planet? That doesn't make any sense, but seeing it now in front of my eyes I don't have any choice but to believe it.

From that apparition emanates a more powerful beam of light. It appears to penetrate through me.

It left me blind for a moment, paralyzed, standing with my mind in blank for a bit.

When I regained consciousness there were people desperate running across the streets from one place to the other, screaming in fear while some houses where crumbling.

"What happened?" I asked to an old lady that went past by.

"What did you mean by that!? The earthquake has destroyed my house and shattered down! I don't know where my daughter is, I gotta find her!"

The old lady moved away while yelling her daughter's name.

Far away I saw as many people were crying euphoric, trying to save their beloved ones from the rubble of their destroyed homes. A house in flames made a great smoke trail that keeps on going onto the sky, a bunch of screams could be heard from inside asking for help. In the outside there where some trying to put out the flames.

The rest were as amazed as myself in the middle of the street without knowing what to do. I could hear as they were asking themselves out loud.

"Why this have to happen? I haven't finished paying my house or my new tv... dammit!"

"What have we done to deserve it? Maybe it's a sign from god who send us this disaster?"

"It ended? It won't shake anymore, right? Another stronger earthquake won't arrive, right?"

The chaos expanded everywhere. And between them all I was just standing there asking myself...

"Earthquake? When?"

I turned around and watched my home. It didn't seem to have any kind of damage, neither the houses of my neighbours.

At the end of the place I heard a commotion, so I went to check it out and saw what happened. There was a giant sinkhole, likely a product of the earthquake. It must had been very impressive to leave such a great hole. It seems to have eaten up some houses and cars.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone left inside that tragedy, I hope it didn't occur though.

But, when did it happen? How I wasn't conscious when it occurred? How much time has passed since? What I was doing before...?
